Most of these artists are artists that I listen to all the time. Rkomi, Blanco, Noemi, Mahmood, Irama, etc. This Sanremo is gonna be huge. I'll be happy with whoever gets to represent Italy. l'Italia spaccherà dinnuovo!

Fun fact: In Italy, more than half of the public who follows Sanremo does not even know about the existence of the Eurovision contest. About 70% do not know that the winner goes to Eurovision. Sanremo has always been an independent festival and in Italy it is still considered widely more important than Eurovision.
My cousins in Italy know about it but don't follow it. Not like I do. So yea, you're right. Those numbers are pretty accurate, it doesn't have a huge following with the Italian public. Most don't really care. Only the Eurovision fandom does.

Elisa Toffoli has already won Sanremo at 20 with "Luce" and not only has an extraordinary voice but she is also an incredible singer-songwriter with a remarkable repertoire also in English (her song Dancing was quite popular in the USA a few years ago). She has released about 20 albums and is considered one of the queens of Italian music with Laura Pausini and Giorgia Todrani. They are the current unreachable trio of Italian female music. She has also worked on TV, has written songs for movies and is extremely popular and as a singer she has one of the most stable and successful careers in Italy and I never thought she would return to Sanremo. She is a singer who is almost always first in the charts for 20 years, I'm pretty sure her song will be a masterpiece, I'm really happy!
On top of all of that... she recently made a song with Mahmood and it's great :)
I'm excited for Emma, Irama and Mahmood. "La genesi del tuo colore" was my most streamed song last year. I would like to see Elodie in Sanremo 2022 aswell

@@wandapepper This isn't the first time a foreign singer partecipates to Sanremo...Luis Miguel even came second place in Sanremo 1985. Sanremo is the Italian SONG Festival, the SONG must be in italian, the artist has not to be italian.

Whoever wins the Sanremo Festival is the official candidate of Italy, no matter if young or old.
But it happened that someone decided not to participate (Roberto Vecchioni and Stadio, for example), and Italy chose someone else.

Yeah, they can partecipate how many times they want, as long as theyre invited by the host of Sanremo!
In this video you see old songs from the partecipants not the songs that will be presented in Sanremo. It's prohinited to present the sanremo songs before the beginning of the festival.

The music should be in italian or in a language spoken in Italy (neapolitan, sicilian, sardinian, arbhreshe, griku etc...), but the singer can be not Italian. Ermal Meta is also born in Albania
