After 18 months of ownership, I'm turning the page on the 87.

  • I did most of the work on the 87 before I started making videos. I'm going to be shifting gears to get some of the major work on the 84 started so keep your eyes peeled for those.
I will link the Wolf Steel panels if anyone is doing body work and wants to see what I used. I liked the product. They aren't perfect and you'll likely need to do some fabrication/fitment on your own but from my research they are the best option unless you want to go fiberglass.

Things to note: the rocker panels are listed under pick up but are identical to the 4runner so you can use them interchangeably.
The front fender arch can be used on the opposite side rear. You just flip it around and it's the same shape.
I Sprayed Wool Wax on my undercarriage and moveable parts, and inside my frame rails. I painted marine grease onto my frame for rust prevention. www.woolwaxusa.com/WoolWax%E2...
It's a great product because it's all natural and non-petroleum so it can be used on rubber, boots and bushings.

My 80 2wd pickup is the same brown as your 84 runner. I call her keisha 😂

PARTY DOWN BROWN, BABY! LOL . But seriously. Brown is the best color for these. I named my 87 Willie Nelson. Just a super nice, mild mannered old man who puts up with all my shit and keeps rolling along .

I don't have faith that dash paint job is going to survive the test of time. Plastic just hates paint. I think i burned my retnas just getting a glance at it as well. I feel that red would be a tough one.

It's horrible. But it's probably been there for years. They actually did a really great job with the application. I question the decision making though. I'd love to bring it back to beige but they put in oem red carpet., seats and all the plastic trim so it'd be really hard to find all that stuff and get it back to original. I was thinking of rubbing some brown dye on it to bring it down to maroon maybe but either way I hate red. So maroon ain't much better.

@@natalied989 I agree with the brown, but if the rest of that interior is staying the current colors, I would just go black. Coverage would prolly be way better.

Same 4runner! Mines an 87 sr5 turbo, but been converted NA awhile ago.

@lonerider5315 I have. And I dont like them :( Just a matter of taste but a little too "Night Rider" for me lol. They are cool though. I'm just more of an analog girl at heart.

You should keep this one and sell the white. Solid axles are cool for bro-clout and weekend warriors, IFS better for daily (I have both). Plus you have the best factory color combo available (minus the dash:)

If I do sell one it would probably be the while one. I'm not a big fan of the straight axle. It's heavy and slow but I do like the simplicity of the 22r. I absolutely hate the efi system on the 87. But I love the vehicle itself.
