  • (7 May 1959) Her Majesty the Queen, chatting with Princess Margaret, was at Victoria Station just before the special train from Gatwick came in. Then, the Queen welcomed His Imperial Majesty the Shah of Iran and Princess Margaret, Princess Alexandra, the Prime Minister, Mr Butler, Lord Privy Seal and the Foreign Secretary were presented. After this and other presentations, the ceremonies at the station were complete, except for the inspection of the Guard of Honour, mounted by the Grenadier Guards. It was a fine Spring day for the State drive to the Palace, and all the way crowds were out to enjoy the magnificence and the pageantry. Attended by a Sovereign's Escort of Household Cavalry, the royal carriage was accompanied by the cheering for the Queen, the Shah and Prince Philip.

It was such a wonderful visit. I was just a little girl back then but I vividly recollect those days when the Shah of Persia was in Britain. Long live the Queen!

Before these idiots came to occupy Iran 42 years ago, we had a King in Iran! FYI, Queen Elizabeth (for those who watched The Crown... :D ) would not even shake hands with the British Prime Minister (not even Winston Churchill himself) or anyone beneath her! Here in this clip she comes forward and shakes hands with Shah of Persia (min. 0:33 ) as they liked to call Iran! It goes to show that there was a level of respect and culture in exchange! The meeting of two powerful civilizations from the East and the West! Which sadly ended for the Iranian people and the country of Iran as a whole when one side decided to end the relationship, betray the other side and install a new government that benefits them most with the help of superpower cousins!

If he had only played a symbolic role like the Queen of England, instead of a tyrant, we never would've been in this shit hole for the past 43 years.
