Reacting to NHL Playing Through The Pain tomorrow 💯
When hot wings video?
Check out this compilation of all 894 goals Wayne Gretzky scored. It's almost a half-hour long
czcams.com/video/iRD5Fn8ecsg/video.html
@@gordieparenteau6555 I’ll check some of it out off camera bro, I’m honestly not that interested in making a half hour long vid on this, respectfully tho
@@yojustmatt i dont think he mentioned its a half hour long so youd watch the entire thing on or off camera i think hes just pointing out how insane it is to have 30 minutes worth of goal highlights… truly the goat. and to think if he never scored a single goal hed still be the all time leader in career points off assists alone
@@DannyConcepts Ahh gotcha gotcha 💯
Not sure you caught that but even if he never scored a goal, he would still be #1 overall in points just with assists. Also, he is the only player in NHL history to have his number retired across the entire league.
*sports history I believe
That is impressive regardless, but the fact he is the all time leader in goals makes that 1000 times more impressive.
@@eggoswithsyrup4232 Jackie Robinson did too I think
Totally. All time leader in goals, assists and points. But even if he had never scored *a* goal, his assists would still make him the all time leader in points. This is the most impressive statistic in all of sports history.
He has nearly 50% more points than #2 on the all time points list. Astonishing.
Jackie Robinson’s #42 is retired in all of MLB
Here in Edmonton we have a road named after him (and Mark Messier). There are so many stories of how smart he was (which is expected for a guy currently holding 62 records). There was one famous story of a goalie playing against Gretzky, and whenever Gretzky came down the ice he would look into the glass behind the goalie. The goalie was really confused, he assumed there was a really hot babe behind him the stands. When he got a break he looked behind him into the glass. He didn't see any especially good-looking babe, but he saw himself in the reflection. He realized Gretzky was using the reflections in the glass to see the players behind him.
Also note there is one player, Alexander Ovechkin, who is on his way to beat Gretzky's all-time goals in a few years, and nobody is more excited for that than Gretzky.
Unless I'm mistaken, Gretz held 62 records when he retired. But, since then some of those records have fallen, so he actually holds fewer now. Not to take anything away from the greatest ever.
Thats the biggest flex of all time. He has more assists than any other player has TOTAL POINTS EVER.....
Wayne Gretzky and his brother hold the record for most points by a pair of brother's, Wayne with 2857 and his brother Brent with 4.
Sucks that Brent is lesser known but obviously he wasn't as good as his brother 😅
@@QuackAttack Brent was probably a good hockey player though to make the NHL.
@@egg6130 fair point
@@QuackAttackBradbury thrashers baby
Wayne Gretzky is the most dominant Hockey player ever
His 2,857 points is nearly 1,000 more than second place
If you liked Gretzky, you have to react to Mario Lemieux, he might’ve been able to break some of Gretzky’s records if it weren’t for back issues and cancer. I love both players though.
I agree, Mario had such an insane career even despite his setbacks. He's a legend in my book no matter what
If you enjoyed that react to Mario Lemieux. He was the only player to rival gretzky in terms of point production, and he even had more goals per game. His career was relatively short because of recurrent back problems, multiple injuries and cancer.
Mario also only played 170 games past the age of 31 and 570 games less than Gretzky overall. His GPG would go down naturally over time, as we saw when he retired the first time with 613 goals in 745 games (.822 GPG) versus the games he played from 2000-2001 through final retirement that dropped it to .754 GPG.
People tend to forget that Gretzky had a better GPG than Lemieux at every significant goal milestone (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and of course 700 and 800 which Mario never got to).
Gretzky also had his own injuries which are pushed in the background because he accomplished so much and it’s hard to compare anything to cancer with a straight face. That being said, if he retired after his Oilers career, people would lose their minds projecting out his stats, awards, what ifs like they do for Orr and Lemieux.
Still the best two players I’ve seen and also my two favorites.
for players nowadays getting 50 goals is a superstar season and he almost doubled that in 1982 it’s actually crazy
Gretzky isn't the Michael Jordan of Hockey. Dude had 8 straight MVPs, more assists than anyone else has points in NHL history, brought Hockey to the Southern States... Michael Jordan isn't even close to Gretzky's dominance and impact. To say Jordan is the Gretzky of Basketball would be a long stretch.
Lol can't believe anyone thinks 99 is the GOAT 87 is the GOAT actually so have fun with that people 🤣
@@penguinfan8716 Crosby is maybe 25% of Gretzky
@@Itz_nick07 eh Crosby is just better in general do you even realize how easy it was to score back than?
@@penguinfan8716 If that's the case, why wasn't EVERYONE scoring as many as Gretzky? Give The Great One a composite stick, prevent people from interfering with him, and remove the offside for passing over the center line, and Gretzky would make EVERYONE look like they were playing in mud. Oh - and take away the good factor, and the legal checks to the head (I'm looking at YOU, Scott Stevens), and he's scoring the same amount today.
man was the fastest player to 1,000 points...TWICE!
Nobody will ever be better than him. People can try. But they will fail.
He is greatest athlete that ever lived. 101% class ... all the way!!
Also now that you’ve seen that and realize how crazy it is how much he scored the fact that Ovechkin is on his way to beating his goal record in this era when the goaltenders are even better is insane
Now you need to see Mario Lemieux... The only player who could have beat Gretzky records if he could have been more healthy.
I think in 1992 when Lemieux was in his prime he missed 24 games during the regular season ( because of cancer ) at the end of the season he cameback and won the scoring title with 12 points more than Lafontaine with like I said 24 GAMES LESS. That year he had a ridiculous total of 160 POINTS in only 60 games while battling a cancer.
Gretzky broke so many records, the NHL channel was able to do a Top 25 Wayne Gretzky RECORDS, complete with "honorable mentions."
You gotta watch some of his passing highlights. The greatest passer of all-time.
Yes, he played chess when others played checkers. And yes, the Michael Jordan of hockey. You nailed it.
Just to put his dominance during his prime years in perspective in his 1st NHL season 1979 he tied for points leader with 137(players#10 to 3 had 94-125 points), 1981 he had 212 points(players#10 to 2 had 103-135 points), 1980 he had 164 points(players#10 to 2 had 106-147 points), 1982 he had 196 points(players#10 to 2 had 104-124 points), 1983 he had 205 points(players#10 to 2 had 105-126 points), 1984 he had 208 points(players#10 to 2 had 102-135 points), 1985 he had 215 points(players#10 to 2 had 105-141 points), 1986 he had 183 points(players#10 to 2 had 95-108 points).
Some of his accomplishments include scoring 50 goals in 39 games on route to 92, notching 163 assists in a season, 4 times with over 200 points (nobody else has done it once with Lemieux coming close once with 199), hit 100 points by game 35 one year, has the record of 47 points in a playoffs including 17 goals, scored seven assists in a road game against the Quebec Nordiques as a rookie which was broken down into several individual records as they often are, had 137 points as a first year NHL player tying Marcel Dionne for the scoring lead but was denied the Calder trophy as rookie of the year because he played pro in the WHA the year before and denied the scoring title because Dionne had more goals. I'm going by memory so I apologize if my facts are a bit off.
Only player in any league who has had his jersey retired league wide!
He and Larry Bird shared a Time magazine cover. The uncontested GOAT.
Not only was Gretzky untouchable, his records are also. The man was on another level.
As a Canadian and from Edmonton I love Wayne Gretzky one of the best Hockey players ever to play in the NHL
I grew up with Wayne in Brantford, he got 400 goals when he was 10 years old, he was always the smallest player
The dude is a freak athlete that goal he scored as a LA king where he basically slapshot the airborne puck 1 meter off the ice top corner . 0.001% reflexes and body control. Insane cardio too part of his dominance was he would be the last dude on the ice to get tired.
gretzky is like a mixture of jordan’s scoring magics passing and then wilts records
I fell out of love with hockey after playing my whole life and being burnt out but watching your content is reminding me while I loved it growing up. 🙏🏼
His records Will never be broken.. ever. You always have new football, baseball. And b ball players who come in and break old records... but no one will eeeevvbeeerrr break Wayne's scoring title. Even the other greatest scorers of all time would have to play 40 years to put up the numbers he did in 15 years.
he wrote a book called 99 stories of the game, I would def recommend it
Check out Maurice "Rocket" Richard, the player for whom the NHL's scoring title is named.
And his little brother Henri "Pocket Rocket" Richard 😏
I am old enough to have been in the Coliseum for most of those records.
Now you know how important he is to Hockey you have to see how he did it with a highlight video :)
Bro talked through the best part of the video. Even if he never scored a goal he would still lead all
Time in points.
There is a lot of amazing stories and statistics during his life.
I think he scored 372 goals as an 11 year old. Something like 6 goals a game. He was 6 playing with kids that were 10 and 11. Funny enough they gave him the most improved player of the year. From when he was 5 to 6 years old lol.
Very nice guy too. Amazingly smart player. He was really the first to play backwards to go forward. Sort of like in checkers. Not only playing behind the net back out to the front but making passes and plays backwards to streaking players. Watching his 80s Oilers was like watching the Showtime Lakers of the 80s. Gretzky is why im an Oiler fan. Mcdavid is why im still one. 2 of the best who ever played
Loving you're content. Lifetime hockey player and you're vids make my day and always put me in a outstanding mood!!!😊😊😊 Keep up the great work my guy!
Thank you honestly, glad these vids help better your day, much love 💯🔥
Don't forget the goalies Gianluigi Buffon for Football (Soccer), Dominik Hasek for Ice hockey etc :)
Gretzky a Canadian hockey player was hanging with Jordan, Barkley and company back in the day. Barkley and the G man are still friends today.
Matt the goat you should react to my teams goalie. His name's connor helybuck and he's elite. Makes cross ice, glove, pad saves and he's won goalie of the year before.
There is one player creeping up Gretzky’s goal record and that is The Great 8 Alexander Ovechkin he is now just 56 away from tying Gretzky
Thank you!!!!!
if he never scored a goal his assist number (pts) ranks #1...that is incredible!
You should react to Wayne Gretzky highlights, there’s a 12 min video with 2M views that’s really good
Wayne broke 71 records to which 60 of them have never been broken since 1999, when he retired. One of the reasons he was traded was he married an American woman and was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. another Canadian hockey player by the name of Mike Fisher, who played for the Ottawa Senators, married Carrie Underwood (singer) and was traded to the Nashville Predators.
He still has 58 records. He had 61 when he retired, so only 3 have been broken.
Fun fact about Wayne and his brother Brent were both in nhl and they also hold record for most nhl points by brothers in nhl.... and Wayne's brother Brent only had 4 total points in his career, Wayne just had so many points no other brothers have come close to matching their total
Funny 😁 👍🏻
Will stand forever
Can you do a reaction to mario lemieux 100 greatest players
just some fun perspective, Wayne leads the NHL in all-time goals. If he never scored a single goal, he'd still be the all time point leader by about 150 points.
Hart is basically the MVP Award in NHL. 8 Consecutive
What can we say. To put this in perspective this is the Jordan of the NHL.
Gretzky is better at hockey than jordan was at basketball
@@hellomotoCoop sure but just as great for the image of the league
During his playing career it was believed by many players that Gretzky had Extra Sensory Perception
Most humble guy ever
A friend's mother was having tests at McMaster University Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario when Wayne's dad was taken there for a stroke. They chatted in the waiting room and told Wayne their mom would have major surgery on a particular day in a couple of weeks. As a surprise to them when she had her surgery he showed up with pizza and wings on that day while they awaited the outcome of her surgery.
I predict by the start of the next NHL season.... JustMatt gonna be a hockeyhead!
he is the goat of all time
Only one left is most skilled player Mario Lemieux lol
50 goals in 39 games is insane. That might be his hardest record to break.
Not as hard as 163 assists or 11 consecutive 100+ assist seasons. No one else has more than one.
@@michaelgriffiths8068 Well Wayne himself said that 50 goals in 39 games was the record that will be toughest to break.
@@istvanfoy-roberts868 - Wayne says a lot of things. According to him, half the players since 1995 are better than him.
@@michaelgriffiths8068 Like most hockey players, he is a humble man.
Scoring 100 points in a season is like someone averaging 30+ points per game in an NBA season. Most years only one or two players break the 100 point barrier, and only by a few points, with the last few seasons being the exception. 100 points in a season is a rare thing, so to hit over 200 points in 4 seasons is absolutely insane. He broke 100 points 16 times, with most of them being above 150+. He also had 11 seasons where he had over 100 assists in a season, I don't think 100 assists in a season will ever happen again.
Gretzky was truly great. Most of his point records won't ever be broken...but I have to say, I think you got the analogy wrong: Gretzky was Kareem, Lemieux was Jordan. Mario could do everything. He likely would have challenged at least most of Gretzky's goal scoring records. Can't say he'd definitely break them but he'd be right there. Such a shame his career was plagued with back injuries/cancer.
Gordie Howe played for Detroit red wings and was the best player before Wayne Gretzky became the goat
You should reaction to Sergei Fedorov of Detroit Red wings
He also was the oldest player to play in the NHL at age 52, as well as the leader in # of games played, a record which was beaten I believe last year by... Patrick Marleau, right?
Gordie Howe STILL has the record at 52 years old playing in NHL
Patrick marlue is ONLY 42 according to google and second oldest player was Chris chelios who won a Stanley Cup with Detroit red wings and retired
I think Joe Thornton is oldest active player still in NHL maybe that's who you meant
fedorov is my favorite player of all time
@@kylestoevsand4523 yes I agree 💯. I grew up during his time as a Young and he was like Gretzky there was nothing he couldn't do
He scored 56 goals in a year
He scored 5 goals in a single game
He scored game winners in OT or shootouts
He was the best 2 way player of hockey history meaning he can play defense and offense
He was by far the best player in NHL in his era
Won 2 selcki awards
Won hart trophy
Won multiple Stanley Cups
Won MVP
He was built different
He came from soloviat Union
My favorite line was
Fedorov, Steve yzerman, Brenden shanahan nikolous Lindstrom All goats 🐐🐐🐐
@@QuackAttack Did you see Jagr wants to come back to the NHL at 50 yrs old?
The Great One
I’m going to be honest here. His point record is the most safe record in pro sports. This man holds or shares 61 world records js.
But I’m from Edmonton and we have a new killer. His name is Connor Mcdavid, you should check this guys videos out. He’s on another level. Trust me
Gretzky was the most dominant athlete of any sport. No other athlete dominated their sport like Gretzky dominated hockey.
99 the Goat of all time in all of sports ... in the hardest sport to master
I've watched ALL of Gretzky's games from 1979 onwards and for the hockey fans who have never seen him play, you are missing out on what he did on the ice. His perception of the game was well beyond his years. If you've ever read his earliest autobiography, he had a comment in there that went he watched the games on Hockey Night in Canada his dad, Walter Gretzky, told him to NOT watch where the puck is and watch where the puck is going to end up. So that's why he was miles ahead of the game than anyone else. There are always stories that Gretz wasn't a fast skater but I can tell you for a fact that when Gretz had breakaways (some even from the center line) he was NEVER caught by another player. Go and see a video for 30 minutes on his goals and nobody catches him. I've been blessed in my era to watch the GOAT in both hockey and basketball. Thanks
To me Gretzky is the greatest team sports athlete of all time because h's so insanely far above every one of his peers. No one is even a close-ish second to his dominance.
Yes Lemieux could have, maybe. But history is written.
U should react to marc andre fleury best save as alway great video 👍🏻.
Gotta hit up #66 - Mario Lemieux. One of the best ever- goes onto own the Pittsburgh Pens- cancer survivor in his prime playing years- started an amazing fight Cancer foundation. A legend of the game… prob 2nd only to #99
Ovechkin may be getting close to the goal record, but there’s still a hall of fame career between him and Gretzky. That’s how far and away the great one is from everyone else.
I just love you man! Best youtuber ever! Coming from 🇨🇦 and a Jets fan! Can you react to Kyle Connor highlights? All the love from me bro,
There are only 2 people in all of North American sports that has their number retired league wide. 99 Wayne Gretzky and 42(Jackie Robinson)
congrats on 20k my boy

@@yojustmatt keep doing u, but in the future you should definitely check out some lacrosse!
Gretzky is very much wanting his all time goals to be passed by Alex Ovechkin
also alex ovechkin is 3rd all time in goals with 780, gretzky has 894 and ovechkin at 36 is not getting worse with 4 years left on contract probably will do it
Gretz might be the most dominant sports player of all time.
The points he put up in the 80’s was the equivalent of Jordan putting up 45-50 points per game in the 90’s
He's really only the Jordan of Hockey in the sense that he's the goat, but his statistical profile is more like if you took all of Wilt Chamberlains single game and single season records and combined them with all of Lebron and Kareems career records. Just arguably the most dominant player in the history of team sports
Nobody will EVER be better than Gretzky, even with generational talents like Crosby, Ovechkin, McDavid coming into the league over the last 20 years nobody has ever been able to come close to what Gretzky accomplished, and nobody is going to break his all time points record in this day and age of the game it's just not happening.
Michael Jordan is the Wayne Gretzky of Basketball
No pro athlete ever dominated a sport statistically as much as Wayne has dominated hockey. He has no equal in any other sport.
he's the GoAT that's for sure...... Although Ovi will beat his goals, no one has come close to his points.
You should react to Leon Draisaitl. Easily top 3 player in the league right now
I really hate to be the one to say this because absolutely nobody else will.... One thing we all need to remember is Gretzky Played in an Era where the Goalies were TOTAL TRASHBAGS He played in a leauge where Defence is what kept the goalies relevant A SHIT TON MORE BACK THAN than in todays leauge yes they do say A Goalie is only as good as the Defensive Pairing in Front of him but that was way more Significant back in those days.... Todays Goalies i totally think would give Gretzky Fits and his game would totally have to adapt. Just spitting the facts yall. But Respect to him for Dominating THAT ERA Of The Best Sport EVER PLAYED!!!!
Well, Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy and Dominik Hasek all played then. I understand what you mean, though. Overall, the goalies had different playstyles that made it easier to score. The game was also much rougher back then, though.
as I said to someone else, if it was so easy to score, why is he the only one that scored 200 points? Why hasn't anyone else scored 50 in 50 since he did 50 in 39? Yes, the goaltending has improved, but players back then could basically cripple each other with headshots, drag each other with hooks and holds, and faced players who's only job was to fight guys on the opposing teams. It was different - but 99 still outperformed EVERYONE else in his era.
Gretzky is the greatest but I still think Lemieux is the “best”. He just had too many health issues to challenge Gretzky’s records and longevity
Steve Yzerman ;]
Dude had cancer and cane back just as good that is just insane
Could you please react to Jaromír Jágr?
Wende Clark Tribute . All Heart.
One point to your title: we don’t call Wayne Gretzky “the GOAT”-this term is reserved for athletes of Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, or Sugar Ray Robinson’s stature. It implies comparison. Wayne Gretzky is called “The Great One.” 👍
I still consider Mario Lemieux to be the best who ever played the game but I have no problem aknowledgin' Gretzky as the G.O.A.T for all his accomplishments.
Yes, 50 goals in 39 games. Now keep in mind that today's top goal scorers struggle to score 50 goals in a season (82 games). Tho scoring has gone up recently - but still.
Gretzky has more assists than anyone else has points. Dude coulda not scored a single goal and still have the all time point record lol
