I watched this movie on IMAX in Dubai. I can not even begin to describe how insanely mesmerized the entire audience was during this song.. nobody made even a single sound at all.. we were all totally spell bounded by Deepika's beauty.. by this stunning set.. by the gorgeous costumes.. by the music.. by the dance. Gosh I remember the goosebumps I had after this song ended

It was a specific set for this song. The set was called, Sheesh Mehal-“ Palace of Mirrors” and if it’s Bhansali movie there would be everything so detailed and best quality of everything.
@@201jim I dont think there is anybody still alive to tell Bhansali how to do it. Its not copy its inspiration. If not for Mughale Azam, the Idea could be taken from anywhere from text books. Sheesh Mahal concept was there even before Mudhale Azam movie.

One of the most beautiful song in Bollywood.
The set was specifically designed for the movie. Everything is real, no cgi was used. The set was basically a recreation of the "Sheesh Mahal" or "The palace of mirrors". The real palace still exists, but not in the same state.
There is a sheesh mehal in Pakistan too. Its a historical place in lahore.
Is thr story of this movie related to that palace? Or its a different one

1808 - Fire that destroyed all the important artifacts and documents in the palace.
1812 - Fire that destroyed two stories, a warehouse and Asmani Mahal.
1813 - Fire that destroyed the Royal Hall.
1828 - The fifth and biggest fire which is said to have lasted a week.
So in these fires major portion of Fort was destroyed....😟😟 including Sheesh Mahal...

What most people fail to see in this set is how the concept of parabolic arches were used to show reflections.
She doesn't get dizzy doing the rounds as it a dance form and people generally practice to get to that form where you don't get dizzy doing multiple rounds .

That entire set was created for the movie and ofcourse the centre mirror piece plays a major role in the movie. In the beginning of the movie, Priyanka would setup the mirror for Ranveer Singh saying that she would be the centre of attraction in the palace however it will turn up to be Deepika Padukone who would later capture that place (attraction/ in his heart).
The set was entirely handmade and is actually a replica of the "Sheesh Mahal" (palace of mirrors) located at Shanivarwara, the official residence of Peshwa Bajirao and family!!

It's a set but this song is based on Indian history period ( true story ) in accent time in India almost every fort has *Sheesh mehel* / *aaina mehel* ( palace of mirror ) which is made of a different arrangements of mirror pieces. This particular palace in this movie knows as *shanivaar vada* which basically means that every Saturday there should be celebration or you can say get together where artist performs. There was a time in Indian history when these beautiful mirror forts use for celebrations and almost every evening so many people perform over here in front of king and other empires. Indian history is very beautiful and rich.

The movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ focuses on side characteristics of a great historical figure in Indian history....Bajirao was known for his valour and charismatic leadership against the Muslims....fought 40 wars against Muslims and never lost any.......it was a great opportunity for the movie makers to showcase his life in an aspiring way....but the movie just focused on his love life......it’s like Hollywood makes a movie on Albert Einstein and just focuses on his love for Violin....that’s what this movie did to Bajirao....
Not Muslims but mughals. As many of his generals and soldiers who fought for maratha were also Muslims. Like the maratha general named Ibrahim khan gardi who got martyred by abadli after he refused to betray his homeland.

That place is real, called " Aaina Mahal",- palace of mirror, made at the time of Bajirao,kashibai... But obviously they renovated and recreated it for the song. mastani was his second wife.
In india lots of fort s are there, each of them are as beautiful as it is,( in their own ways). These are tourists spot now.
The uniqueness of aina mahal was , when king Bajirao used to enjoy dancing during hindu festivals/ occasions, his first wife queen kashi bai, could see him through the mirrors, the mirrors are made scientifically, each mirror reflect to one another, finally the reflection directly goes to kashi bai"s room mirror. She used to watch him, when she Missed him.
In this video kashibai (Priyanka Chopra) , Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) were watching mastani (deepika padukone) dancing , bajirao was in love with mastani, first wife kashi bai realised it,was feeling jealous and insecure.

Its real set but it's not based off any real historic buildings. The real aina mahal of the Shaniwarwada wouldn't have looked like this at all. It would have been much smaller and less grand.
@@onemoretime3204 Yeah, this set piece is based on Arsa Mahal which was in Shaniwar Wada but sad thing is that it burned down in 1828. Production team use the palace description from various books to recreate the set

This was a good movie but bad at the same time. I felt bad for Kashi, she didn't deserve what happened to her.
That's the reality of life though, man.
Even though all the main there characters did was love,their feelings didn't reach everyone and it lead to clashes leading to the inevitable end.

She even said that when she first stepped into the house, her goal was to keep Bajirao happy. So she put her Bajirao's happiness before her, and it's painful to see how he just left her.
