Yes people in Germany did call him a traitor because during the war hundreds of allied bombers killed thousands of civilians with all the bombings and Germany Luftwaffe pilots were blamed by the populous after the war for failing to protect them against the allies and Germany did exist after the war it was just occupied Germany then west and east Germany then Germany today
