A Faithful Recreation - 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' takes "The Tyne Tees Pullman" south - 06/04/2024

5 weeks after its last stint on the ECML, A4 no 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' would once again work along it's home turf, this time hauling the return working of a Steam Dreams excursion from Newcastle to London Kings Cross on Saturday 6th April 2024
Proudly adorning a "Tyne Tees Pullman" headboard as a faithful recreation of the named express which took the same route back in steam days the A4 is first seen gliding over Bawtry Viaduct at sunset as the train prepares to be looped into Ranskill Loop for water, following a splash and dash stop we made it with minutes to spare at Frinkley Lane, nr Grantham as 60007 streaks through the Lincolnshire countryside as it catches the last glimps of daylight during a sudden headwind that almost tries to obscure the sound the A4
Rounding off todays chase we finally catch Gresley at Arlesey in the depths of darkness, although the train was booked to use the fast line but late running ended up being routed onto the slow line that didn't stop the A4 from putting on an incredible show as it storms through the station at over 70mph!
