As a broke Lazy Retro Boy, I just wanted to say that my Royal Enfield runs great and my beard and my flannel keep me toasty on those early season Midwest rides. Also I wish I could afford a Triumph but I’ll settle for putting miles on my interceptor.
I had three Triumphs and now have an Interceptor. You aren't missing anything (except bad EFI mapping).
I don’t understand the hate for them. I have a continental gt. It was cheap, it’s quick as long as you understand that it isn’t a sport bike. I still get excited every time I see it.
Good bike.
@@derp195 it's a gorgeous bike.
@@derp195 Royal Enfields are the most fun slow bikes you can drive
I find my 650 perfectly adequate. My 500 is more fun. And guess what... I've ordered a Janus. Yammie Noob somehow manages to be shrill and boring at the same time.
Most "retro motorcycle riders" have done the sport bike thing, sometimes for decades, and learned a little secret that you too will arrive at some day Yam. It's 99% as fun to ride a slow bike fast (or even slow) as it is to rip around on a liter bike at 10/10. So sooner or later you too will slow down, buy a mellow standard, and enjoy the ride 🙂
Amen to that
My dad is a panigale guy and complains about being able to go 200 mph. Also his hip. Also how hot the thing runs even at 60mph it's trying to fry you. I listened and bought an older bike with 60hp and an upright seating position. ( 92 yamaha xj600s) He didn't and bought a v4s after owning every panigale missile possible. 1099 1199 1299. He doesn't learn but that's what I'm for to learn from his mistakes. I enjoy my ride. He enjoys running from the cops maybe sorta he toatally doesn't run... He fucking flys away.
I'm 28 and he's 52 as a fyi.
@@Anarchy522XD My dad was a CBR1000RR guy and also found it sporting to run from the cops on the regular. I know the feeling!
Similar to what miata owners say "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than it is to drive a fast car slow"
Yam is literally always saying how less power is more fun 😂
I remember seeing a Triumph Scrambler 900 like 12 years ago, instantly drawn to Triumph, and thinking "when I can afford one, I'm getting one!" Long Game Lazy Rider I am, on my 2019 Street Scrambler, racking the miles with smiles and not worried bout what others think 🤙
Just when you think we'll get an ending where we don't get yelled at.... Thanks papa yam
definitely the worst ending next to the one where he overlaps his voice. I never click off the video faster than in those minutes lol
@@TheEpicDuck23 lol sadly I'm amused with the overlapped voice. It's a great harmonics to it
I find this one the funniest, pops up in complete silence with an all serious face 😄
As someone who is brand new to riding and is looking at the RE INT650 as my first bike, complete with a retro helmet as I listen to some classic UK punk rock. I appreciated this video very much. I will make sure to watch this again as I sit outside on a patio drinking my $9 black coffee so I can admire my bike as I watch.
xD
I think an old UJM bike is the way to go for starting out. Teaches you to work on engines which saves you money down the road, and the old tech keeps you from pushing yourself before you are ready. My first experience riding a motorcycle, it had no front brakes and only a rear drum, and the engine only ran on 1 cylinder below 2500 rpm.
😳
Did you tinker it successfully?
I once had to essentially redo all my wiring in a gas station parking lot in the middle of a hood at 3:00 in the morning, using only a razor blade and some electrical tape. Because it was a 77 gs750 and i had rewired it from scratch, I was able to accomplish that. I realize that new bikes don't have many issues, but when they do, its way more involved. I could carry a 10mm wrench, a screwdriver, and a couple Allen keys and fix my bike 90% of the time it broke down (which was a dozen times over 2 years, mostly due to upgrading/replacing parts, and making little errors when installing them).
As a beginner UJM guy, this is painfully accurate. Love the roast though
Holy hell, the "My busa... and I need it now" bit just went down in my book as one of the true greats of a whole generation. lol
As somebody who started on the kzp1000 police cruiser, I can say I almost fell down this rabbit hole and I'm glad I didn't. I did end up putting Daytona bars on it though.
Lazy Retro Boy here with a completely stock 2020 Sportster 48. I wanted something that felt like a mix of my Ninja 400 and my Shadow 750. Nailed it. My favorite bike I've ever ridden, though definitely not the best on a technical level.
I'm a UJM beginner :)
Started on a Yamaha SR400 an I turned it into some sort of street tracker. Such a great ride, but learning how to ride on a Kickstart bike was indeed Dark Souls level pain.
Without a kick start is it really a motorcycle?
1981 suzuki Gn400 ujm beginner here.. dark souls indeed. Love the kickstart only aspect 😂
My first bike was a $700 1987 Yamaha radian that was abused so bad that it was better suited as a mad max display than a real motorcycle. I wanted to cafe it, but the effort and work would've been worth a brand-new motorcycle. Currently modding a continental GT650 as my third bike and it's been a hoot.
Lmao. Royal Enfield cheap a$$ bike 🤣🤣.
No wonder u got it.
@@deathtomorons9388 Yeah the parts it's equipped with are on the cheaper side but if you actually spend time wrenching and upgrading it then it turns into an actual ride. Not that you would know from the sound of it. You probably take your bikes to the dealer everytime you need an oil change done.
I was expecting I'd be left out with my bosozoku build, but you mentioned it under choppers, and even mentioned holographic paint 🤣🤣🤣😅
Ah yes, a list video of that starts with number 7 and ends with number 7. Well done Yam.
Oh hey! I'm a beginner UJM! Got into it because, well, the option came up.
I did it because I want to learn mechanical stuff on a simpler bike, I love the look, I love the sound, and I love the cruiser feel with mid controls.
When things got out of hand with the carburetors I took it to a mechanic. Mechanic suggested a newer bike. I looked, but none of the new bikes I've seen have all 3
1. the seating position
2. the sound
3. great touring capability.
Number 3 is actually a huge part, because old Honda CBs had the option to basically turn it into a full dress tourer.
So good! I really like the new style and also at the outro I laughed my ass off!
Nice work keeping the funny updated
When the editor put up the picture of the Janus with the rider leaning over it, all I could think was "is that Richard Hammond?"
I started as lazy retro rider. But soon got a broken down 78 suzuki gs750. Was forced to learn to clean and tune the carbs (I removed the carbs over 50 times to get them perfect). Got it running perfectly at oem idle and rebuilt the wiring harnes to oem spec. I then cafed it soon after this. Removed the electric start because I am now a retro purist. The work pays off in the end, I now have a bike that turns heads, sounds great, and I did it with my own enginuity and hard work
I can’t believe how well the accurate cafe racer builder was I’ve owned my 1978 Yamaha XS-750 for about two years now and have probably only ridden it 7 times. Build is still ongoing and I’m becoming able to ride it more frequently now. But I do in fact have a two stroke motorized bicycle which I ride to school every day lol.
79 750 triple here. Didn't ride it once until year 3, so all good!
Lazy Retro Boy here, enjoying my new Bonnie T120. Plenty of power, nice styling, good modern tech and a 2 year warranty.
omg... im a UJM beginner.
lmao the darksouls reference totally makes sense. the amount of amazon prime, oem stores and carb rebuild videos ive used is crazy.
i just cant help but keep upgrading stuff on my '81 suzuki gs850 i got for 400 bucks because the battery wasnt connected.
honestly i think it was worth the hours of crying into the wiring harness though
Yup... yammie has been making these videos for years and he finally caught me. I am the lazy retro rider. I've had a Bonneville Bobber and an r ninet, daily commute in a big city on a motorcycle, and usually wear pretty expensive gear.
Lazy retro old guy here, rocking a stock 2022 Royal Enfield INT650 Mark 2 with the chrome tank. Riding it, not wrenching it, and loving it.
It's My busa, and I need it NOW!
Yo… Recently started following your channel and it’s been awesome!
haha this is great! I would definitely fall into the "retro lazy boy" category. Complete with looking into buying each bike listed! I used to have an old 79' Yamaha XS400. Loved the bike but didn't have time to keep it up. So I'm very happy with my 2021 RE GT650.
I had both a couple of cb350s (good platform to build off of) and a cb754. I liked the kickstarter on the 350s and the jewel shaped idiot lights. I like to get another 350 for nostalgic value.
Started on an 84 Honda CB700SC nighthawk S. Loved the shit out of it.
I ride a 2019 kawasaki 943cc cafe bike .you missed me on your list I bought all the look and all the luxury. After owning a ducati scrambler cafe 800cc for my beginner bike. I represent to 80s kid now 40 who wants to go fast but look respectable. I love these videos.
I'm a sportster rider and I started to laugh. Some people make fun of it but I'm just like hey it's a motorcycle and I'm out enjoying life on two wheels. I got a 1979 iron head and a 2019 48. Love the videos and keep the videos coming.
Being a non HD guy, the Sportster is the only one I think is worth a damn and their best looking modern bike lol, safe riding!
i started off as a lazy retro boy. i bought a chrome 2012 royal enfield bullet deluxe - currently its going thru a scrambler build. and yes... my jeans are skinny but they are the havoc by speed and strength
You have money for a flannel with protectors?
Honestly same, next set of tire on my Bonneville will be dirt oriented for some mild gravel/back road shenanigans. I'm definitely lazy, and my bike is definitely retro.
8:13 this is a KMZ dnepr, and i’m having a full restoration on one like this. Restoring it down to the frame, sandblasting it and assembling it again. This will be my first bike as a 16 y/o
Good luck with the build
@@xtcrider8270 thanks! I’m currently waiting for it to be warmer so i can sandblast the frame and spray primer on
I got old. Back in 1973, my first bike was a Norton 850 commando, then an unknown number of bikes. Today I ride a Suzuki cruiser.
I’m working to become a Lazy Retro Rider. My beard is coming in great and my $300 heritage work shirts are on my Christmas wishlist. Thanks for helping me identify myself!
So close, we need hybrid catagories… old and lazy would be me…love my new gen T120 and have zero need or desire to spend weekends wrenching when I can be riding albeit slowly and preferably NOT in the rain! 😎
My first street bike was a 1974 CBK750 the only bike I've ever owned with zero vibrations.
I definitely fell into the trap of buying a clapped out CB750 that was in pieces for my first bike. And then I became a sportster boy.......papa yam dunked me twice.
Woo! Ticked 2 on this list; first bike was a 79 cx500, and I'm a current sporty rider.
Fun as always. This coming from a 69-year-old rider with a V-rod and a 65-pan head bobber on a ridged frame. That I'm in the process of installing a Duce frontend on so I can stop. I'm tired of little old ladies trying to kill me. The rear disk was not enough. And yes, I ride with my head lite on.
So proud that you put a pic of the "Risitas" in your videos. 🤣🤣🤣
Beginner UJM here. Spent more time fixing than riding my ‘81 kz440. Eventually got it running decently as my daily rider. But would buy from this century if I could do it again.
I'm a beginner UJM too. Absolutely love my 82 kz550. I was lucky enough to find one in really great condition, and it rarely gives me any problems, as long as I keep up with the basic maintenance
I actually saw a guy today who parked his brand new bonneville by a coffee shop with the whole Barbour jacket thing
amazing video
I wonder if Keanu watches this channel. How cool would that be
I love this list. I learned on a cb 750 and its all I rode for a decade. Got married had kids and sold my bikes. Then slmost 2 decades pass. I decided to buy a new bike. A 2022 Street Glide. Imagine my surprise going from 70's and 80's tech to a spaceship. That Harley was the easiest thing I've ever rode. I didn't know how good technology could be.
1993😂cb750😂
I love retro bikes and classics, I’ve owned my share over the years, and I have to say this is spot on. Now to go find the vid with Yammie in flannel and a fake hipster beard.
Great video! :)
I fall into the Lazy Retro Rider camp. Im 55 years old, have a 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS (retro sport) and a new 2022 Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. I love the looks and charm of bikes from the 70s and 80s with modern technology. Both of my bikes do everything and much more for my casual riding style...still, I wouldn't mind having a new Katana in the stable!
A wise man once said: It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than it is to ride a fast bike slow.
Got a 74 CB750 as my first bike 3 years ago. Got two other modern bikes since then and it’s still my favorite haha
I was the 16yr old who's Dad and friends had Bandits Hornets and Fazers but I was too young to ride anything bigger than my 50cc scooter!
18yrs later I got round to passing my test and buying my 20yr old gen1 Bandit 1200 as a first big bike. Always dreamt of one.
Some of us have our own stories to tell and will never fall into these youtube clickbait stereotype lists.
A few bikes on and I would have done nothing any differently.
Ride what you like and enjoy it all the while you can 😎
Hey I live in the same town they make those Janus motorcycles in! Neat
absolutely the most spot-on motorcycle rider video ever, anywhere
I'm sorta a UJM beginner mixed with a lazy retro rider. I started with a modern naked 300NK and quickly traded it in for a marked down 2022 Kawi W800 that I got for a steal. In 3 days, I've already put over 200 miles on it, and that's in the WI winter. I'm looking forward to this spring/summer to ride even more.
about to be #3 myself...going to pick up a bonneville in a few days lol
YES - as a Royal Enfield rider, fairly accurate. Except in my area, lotta the people riding em I've noticed are either 1. younger folks (like me) getting into riding that like the style 2. older riders that started on cafe style and went to Harley's or something, but are now going back, but don't want to go commit Triumph again just yet.
(can't knock the 3 year warranty a new one comes with - need to replace my speedo sensor, a common problem apparently on new ones)
As a Indian Chief Vintage rider, I felt left out 😥 It is strange to have a nostalgia for a bike that I wasn't alive when the original was made
Ha ha I fit into the 2nd category. Love my Thruxton 900. I take it out if it’s a dry Sunny Day. Don’t mind the cold. Done my time in the cold and wet to work and back 25 miles each way.
That outro was... great!
I'm glad I upgraded from being a UJM Beginner to a motorcycle from this centuty lmao
Candy and cucumber? No wonder I can't get any. I thought 40 weight, cigar, and beer was where it's at! Thanks for the tip!
finally a new 7 riders vid
Well, guess I fall in with the Sportsters. My first and only bike so far is a Suzuki S50. 😬
I do wanna get an early 80 Goldwing and see if I can cafe it, but keep the side saddle bags. I think that would be nice.
That'd be sicl. If you do decide to do that I'd love to help/ stay updated.
Loved the ending
AHhahahah, nailed it perfectly! I own a dark souls bike if im being honest...an XJ750 midnight maxim. 4 carbs that someone in the chain of previous owners drilled out the lead plug covering the factory micro air screw in each one. Can't tune the carbs sets without a Yamaha yiks tool and a gas analyzer. Means the bike is great under throttle but change a gear too slow or stop at a red light and the bike dies unless the throttle is ever so gently maintained...love this vid
Aw man I didn’t think he’d attack me in the end💀 I love my sporty cheap enough and rides well.
I starting on a 82 Honda 450 nighthawk. Bought 3 to build 1.
Hahahah the last 15 seconds gave me a good chuckle
That ending was great :D
I started on a 1979 Suzuki gs425 and I loved it
Lazy guy here, got a Triumph because it would take too long for the Enfield I wanted to arrive (wish I'd decided to wait though- too much tech on the bike). If you have tips on replacing the clocks with analog ones, I'm all ears.
Always wanted a 1985 RZ350 so that would be my choice for a retro cafe racer. Even a Sportster with a 1275 Hammer kit is laughable, couldn’t keep up with my Super Tenere much less anything with a 4 cylinder.
Haha~ Im a total noob and i got a cb750c for its scrap value~ i spent last winter fixing it all up and ive been riding it the past 3 weeks! So far so good!
I am a weird mix a too many of those. I have an 81 Suzuki gs750 I restored myself, I own an RE Interceptor 650, and I kinda miss my sportster. I'll never build a cafe bike, but I do enjoy the inline 4 bikes from the late 70s and early 80s.
I guess the closest to me is the ujm rider, I inherited an old ossa scrambler from my grandfather as a teenager and have fought with it ever since.
Damn. The busa add is legendary
Im prbly gonna be a #3 one soon
Gonna get a royal enfield classic 350. For a nice lookijg city bike
I'm the beginner, just bought a honda MB5 in insanely good condition. It may only have 50ccs, but for me that two stroke feels like a rocket.
I didn't even realize all this when buying my 17' Harley 48. I just kinda walked in, saw it and bought it. I barely even knew what a Harley was lol. It was more or less the bike was calling my name xD
Okay I have work tomorrow so last video to watch. Hi papa yam😁
great content but I swear I only gave a like because of that ending hahahaha I always forget about liking videos
As a 17 year old kid I put Clubmans on my '68 Triumph 500. It looked cool and sounded pretty cool too with the megaphone mufflers but the bike couldn't take the torture a young guy could lay on it. Was it cooler than a Honda 305 Superhawk or Suzuki X6 Hustler? Of course it was, .. but it wasn't near the bike in any way.
You forgot the Modern classic and in full sports gear rider that's me........got a Honda CB-350 rs (the new one) with a KYT helmet, full gauntlet gloves and other sporty gear.,..
Priceless
I'm trying to figure out where I fit in. I turned a moto Guzzi California Stone 1100 into an old man's cafe racer.
Sportster dude hahaha that's me! Also my son. But he has a stage 4 Screaming Eagle
Lol I still love those cafes, I had a poor man's in the form of a CJ360 and now I'm a lazy, waiting for my GT to be delivered
The post-episode channel bump was my kind of humor.
I'm probably a combination of the 2nd and third one.
I want a bike like the instagram greats in the cafe racer community
But I have a Yamaha RS110f with clip ons
I still have not spent a dime on making it look more like a cafe racer so basically number 2
My professional cycling career leaves me with almost no time to tinker with my bike so much so that the only thing I know to adjust on my carburetor is the idle.
So far the only thing I've spent money on this bike since I got it after my sister died riding it is
-an oil change
-new brake pads
-new brake cables(yes I'm on drum brakes f&r)
-new inner tubes
-Clip ons
-side mirrors
I have not chopped the rear end to weld on a u shaped tube to make it look more like a cafe racer yet, then I don't have the cafe racer themed seat as well. At this point the only good thing on my bike is the engine, drivetrain, and suspension and the entire motorcycle is worth about 1/15th of what my bicycle is worth. I also barely ride it because I don't really have money for gas and it isn't registered.
Im a lazy retro rider, but my 82 kz750 ltd is runnin well and i plan on keepin her for as long as i can. No mods.
My dad is a sporster rider haha. It does have the 1200 kit at least but my 750 that is 30 years older than it can just about beat it.
Looks like I was a UJM beginner XD, Found a 1980 CB750custom that was running for less than $1,000. Tore it down with my dad, repainted it and then proceeded to throw over 20,000 miles of my own onto it. Just got myself a 94 Shadow 1100 and staying on the road :)
Love the Bo-Soz-Ok-U reference
As a ugm beginner I bought my kz 750 from the old rider who completed rebuild it and all’s I have had to do to it is change the oil and it came with a filter and extra parts. Also it was only 1200 dollars
I made sure to strait pipe it tho it was two quite
I love this
There is an amazing cafe racer built from an old Goldwing running around videoland.
Don't mind me, I'll just mutter about "character" and "soul" as I hop on my '75 cb750f SUPER SPORT YO....it's got a broomstick handlebar complete with bar end mirrors, rattle can paint job, heat wrapped straight pipe that I made myself, center stand chopped off, replacement side covers because the originals turned to dust, and o yeah, original factory airbox instead of pods, because I need it to actually run.
It’s my busa and I need it now. Opera version when
My dad still has the bike that got me into motorcycling. His bone stock, carmine red 1979 XS650 special purchased brand new. He's not that anal about the record keeping though.
Got my cycle license, and I wanna Busa now!
No. 3 for me, I am indeed a lazy retro boy. I love my T120 Bonneville. It goes anywhere and looks great, like me. ☕️
The JG Wentworth reference was hilarious 😂
