My first week in Japan, I took the Shinkansen to Osaka. Since then, I lost count on how many times I have walked through Tokyo Station, so seeing this just brings these memories to life.
Did you get lost inside the first time you went to Tokyo station? When I went there for the first time, I was only 10 years old. My mother and I were walking around along with my little brother from Marunouchi side and found ourselves at Yaesu side but we got so tired to go back to Marunouchi side. So we took a taxi and asked the driver "Can you take us to the other side of Tokyo station?" 😄
Thanks for uploading this. Been three years since I last visited and I can't help but want to come back as soon as possible. Everything feels just as I remember it.
The gate I went through was a south Marunouchi gate. There is one more very similar at the north gate. Many Japanese old architectures are asymmetric but Tokyo Station is exceptional. That may be one of the reasons people often get lost inside. 😄
Mr Video Street View Japan, your videos are so informative and well executed, that create the illusion of walking along your side, hontoni arigato gozaimasu.
@@VSV_Japan we will walk along you where ever you may go, but if not to much to ask, but you can do some inner bus ride in Tokyo? and once again, hontoni arigato gozaimasu.
@@WhereHeroesDies Someone asked me about a bus ride too. I also thought about it as well. The biggest problem is that I hardly ride a bus and don't know which route is good. So I thought about renting a car and shoot a video from inside. But I wonder if people rather want to see the atmosphere inside the bus? I would appreciate your advice.
Video Street View Japan let’s find out what other viewers thought, but as you pointed out, is to see the atmosphere inside the buses, and the different neighborhood they run through, no need to rent a car, isn’t the same feeling, I live in Panama City, but will look on internet for those routes. I was at Tokyo station in 2015 but did not have time to explore (business).I will next year... It's so big, nice, clean ..I do remember how clean it was than other places in the world... another reason I love Japan 💖🇯🇵🌸👍
Thanks for your input. I thought about that many times but if I can't get a good seat probably you can't see a good view. Maybe I rent a car and driving around Tokyo would give you a better view... Hmmm I'm still thinking...
Great to see Tokyo Station again - even if via CZcams! :-) Thank you! Is the Hi-Chew store still there? They had so many varieties on sale (including the rare regional and special editions :-)
I searched it on the Internet and found that the Hi-Chew store is not inside Tokyo station. But there is an underground shopping area directly connect to Tokyo station and luckily it was caught in this video czcams.com/video/yNlO81NqGh8/video.html Check around 30:46 I hope it's the one you are mentioning. 😄
@@VSV_Japan Thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply; really appreciated :-) I found it at 30:46 and also just found this link: www.morinaga.co.jp/okashiya/index_en.html Thanks again and look forward to your next video :-)
During my first trip to Japan, I didn’t get to explore Tokyo Station cos just ride the train from Narita Airport to transfer to the next stop..and same goes when departure time. Hopefully if I travel to Japan again, I will refer to your video for guidance and would love to explore the Tokyo Station itself. Thank You 😊
OMG! You're right! I walked more than 44,000 steps the day before uploading this video and must have been really tired to check the error! Thanks for letting me know but I keep it intact. 😄
Aside from the regular train ticket to go into the station, there is a special ticket just to enter the station for ¥140. Of course you can't ride a train with this ticket but this is for people who send off friends and families at the train platform. You can use this "entry ticket" to go not only to the local train platforms but also to the Shinkansen platforms. It's effective for 2 hours.
Great video! Was wondering do you need to pay to purchase a ticket to get to the inner station shopping street such as Gransta? And does the ticket allows to go in and out of the exits as many times as you want for a certain time period?
Unfortunately you need to buy a ticket to go into Tokyo station. But they offer a special ticket that only lets you into the station for ¥140. This ticket is only valid for the entry purpose and you can't ride a train. Also it's only valid for 2 hours and once you go out of the station, that will be it. If you wish to go in again, you need to buy the ticket again. I wish they offered a refund for the entry ticket if you buy something inside but they don't. It's a shame... Anyway thank you very much for watching! 😄
I love walking around train stations in Japan! The shops and restaurants are so interesting to look at. Do you have a video where you walk around Tokyo station shops?
I have a video shot at Daimaru Department Store at Tokyo Station. czcams.com/video/a4N0354IZ8c/video.html I also have a video shot underground of the Tokyo and Ginza areas and there were a few stores caught on camera. czcams.com/video/yNlO81NqGh8/video.html I hope you will like them both. 😄
One of viewers let me know about typo too but I decided to keep it because many people watched it and gave me comments already... I walked more than 44,000 steps the day before and must have been soooo tired! 😓
Yes, you need to buy an entrance ticket which is valid for both local train platform and Shinkansen platform. I used the ticket to shoot this video. Thanks for watching! 😄

Sorry but this is poorly edited. Lot of generic stuff like train platforms and corridors need to be cut. Really only interested in bits that are individual - retail etc
We are used to wearing a mask since way before COVID19. Especially in winter time, when people catch a cold we quickly wear a mask so other people won't be affected. I think it's part of our culture already.
