  • Mercy was Duffy's breakthrough hit in 2008, and a right banger! I arranged the song in my very first live stream earlier this year, and with the help of Helga Ragnarsdóttir I was able to make a recording, so you can hear what the arrangement sounds like!
Check out the stream where I arranged the song here: • Video

Man... I don't know how I missed this one... It's lovely. It's got that vibe, you just wanna snap or tap along. This is beautiful friend.
    Wait, who was rapping?... Wow

Thanks; I think it turned out quite well! 🙂 That's Helga doing the rap; much like me she'd forgotten that the song has a rap in the bridge, but she did a really good job with it!

Wow, great job you guys!! It'll help me and my duet partner to create something of ours with this song. It'd be nice to know if you've studied music to make this arrangement ☺️, cause I'd like to be able to do the same work and I'm looking for what studies to do. Thank you!

Hi! Thank you very much 🙂 I do have a degree in music, which definitely helped me make the arrangement, though I wouldn't say that a degree is essential for doing arrangements like this one (though it of course helps!). The real useful studies is having done lots and lots of arrangements over the years, many of which didn't turn out so good 😅 But if you pick up some music theory and understand the instruments (voices) you're writing for, you can get a long way! Trying out different ways of making the arrangement to see which one works best for you is also important, and that may take a while if you're just starting out. Just remember that you don't HAVE to do things using notation, for example, if this doesn't work for you 😉
