Top Gun: Maverick is a 2022 American action drama film directed by Joseph Kosinski. It was written by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie, from a story conceived by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. It is the sequel to 1986's Top Gun. Tom Cruise stars as the test pilot Maverick, alongside Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film. The film premiered at CinemaCon on April 28, 2022, and is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on May 27, 2022, by Paramount Pictures. It was scheduled for release on July 12, 2019, but was postponed to "allow the production to work out all the complex flight sequences". The film was further delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts. Early reviews of the film have been positive with acclaim for its cinematography, aerial sequences, emotional weight and a worthy successor to the original film.
Preliminary production on the film officially started on May 30, 2018, in San Diego, California During late August a 15-person film crew from Paramount and Bruckheimer Films were aboard the Norfolk-based aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to shoot flight deck operations. In mid-February 2019, Cruise and the production crew were sighted on board USS Theodore Roosevelt at NAS North Island. In March, filming was completed at NAS Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington. On June 19, 2019, Miles Teller revealed in an interview that he had finished filming two days earlier. Principal photography was scheduled until April 15, 2019, in San Diego, California; Lemoore, California; China Lake, California; Lake Tahoe, California; Seattle, Washington; and Patuxent River, Maryland. The movie was filmed in IMAX format using IMAX-Certified Sony Venice 6K Full Screen cameras.
Synopsis :
After more than three decades as one of the U.S. Navy's top fighter pilots, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell continues to push his limits as a test pilot. He refuses to move up in rank because it would mean giving up flying. He is tasked with training a detachment of young Top Gun school graduates for a special mission no pilot would ever imagine. On this mission, Maverick meets Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of his late friend, navigator Nick "Goose" Bradshaw. Faced with an uncertain future, haunted by his ghosts, Maverick must confront his worst nightmares in a mission that will require the greatest of sacrifices.

She's so right, it was a community event. Growing up I watched Top Gun multiple times a day and could quote all the lines. This weekend we watched the original to refresh our memories and saw Maverick. Now my teenage daughter is obsessed with the movie, it just hits all the right notes and there's no way I'd feel satisfied watching this sequel on my couch. But I'm sure I will one day, over and over and over like I did when I was a kid.
I wish I got the free premier tickets 🎟 on Midway on May 4.i waited 3 hours online, no luck! Paramount booked the entire Midway museum for the premiere. As a former museum member, I got to see/listen to the live presentations by veterans on some of the equipments. The ending of Maverick when they had pull up those net to help landed the jet, made a lot of sense to me

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Primera vez que el cine realiza una secuela luego de 36 años. Inédito. Tan inédito como la posibilidad que la segunda parte de "TOP GUN" fuese mejor que la primera. Y lo es en muchos aspectos, sobretodo en una de las moralejas que van dirigidas al espectador: "las personas con talentos extraordinarios tienen una enorme dificultad para perdonarse a sí mismos por los errores cometidos a lo largo de su vida y de seguir adelante, sin lamentarse por el pasado"... En esta secuela vemos que Maverick 👨✈️ interpretado nuevamente por Tom Cruise, se ha negado a ascender a través de su prometedora carrera en la Marina y a tener una familia feliz, luego que nunca lograra sobreponerse a la muerte de su mejor amigo (Goose), de la cual él siempre se sintió culpable. Maverick llega al extremo de programar su propia muerte en una última misión suicida, sin sospechar que sería rescatado sorpresivamente por el hijo de su amigo muerto hace 36 años atrás (Rooster, interpretado por Miles Teller). Goose, desde el más allá "no le soltaría la mano" 🤝 y gracias a los misterios de la vida Maverick obtendría finalmente su merecida redención, siendo "rescatado" por sus seres queridos de muchas maneras inesperadas [...] La película "te sacude" sin duda, tanto por sus actuaciones como por el alto nivel de sus acrobacias aéreas, nunca antes vistas en el cine hasta ahora. Y recuerden: "frente a una enorme dificultad, lo importante no es el tipo de avión, si no que la destreza y coraje de su piloto"...Le doy 4 estrellas a "TOP GUN MAVERICK" 🙌

i was surprised how emotional it was and how much drama it had. I teared up at one time, my female friend teared up at a different time, so yeah, it was.
