    I just got one of these saws. Before using it I followed your instructions for blade adjustment and installed one of your plates. Both were easy & the plate is worth every penny. First cut was as true as I can tell with a machinist's square.

      That's great to hear. For now I have stopped selling the plates. The price of steel would mean I'd have to increase the price at least 50%. I'm not sure they would sell and I'd hate to invest the money and be stuck with 20 plates.

      It amazes me they screwed up so many saws. I'm thinking they make the saws in huge batches and they screwed up one batch. My saw works perfectly now. Is your saw fairly new? Mine is a bit over a year old. I'll send the plate out tomorrow.

      @@WinkysWorkshop Mine is about a year old as well. After upgraded the blade before I even turned it on and extensive adjustment, I couldn't be happier with its squareness.

    I like the modification to the cutting length rod lock screw - Don't know why they didn't do it in the factory !

    Is the elevation plate souly to raise the base for better cut through depth? I will go back and watch all previous vidios on the topic. Thanks.

    • @WinkysWorkshop
      @WinkysWorkshop  Před 3 lety +1

      You have likely answered your own question by now but just in case. Some of these saw were not made correctly and to make the blade fully cut through the stock requires that the blade guides deflect the blade. My saw (new) was set up from the factory with the blade deflected nearly 3/8". In reality the bearings riding on the back of the blade should not even touch the blade unless the saw is cutting. This plate is an easy fix for the saws with this problem (which is not all saws).

      It's only some saws effected so make sure before you order a plate.

    mine wont cut thru because the hinged blade cover is bent ...because someone lifted the saw up to move it without it being locked with the pin and it flipped and bent that and destroyed my motor belt cover ......

  • @steveo1006

    What is the issue that this plate corrects for?

    • @WinkysWorkshop
      @WinkysWorkshop  Před rokem

      A depth of cut issue. The maker of the saw had a setup jig wrong on a lot of these import saws. The only way to make the saw cut all the way through the stock was to adjust the blade guides so that they deflected the blade downward. This creates blade tracking issues, wavy cuts and short blade life. Mostly this defect limits how fast the saw will cut. Too much downward pressure made the was miss track and fall off. These videos explain the problem (part 2 specifically) czcams.com/video/SzjqDqpWRCA/video.html

      I'll provide a link when the belts are available. Probably one week from now. I'm not sure how many I will sell but I want to be ready and have a few belt guides in stock. Plus I need to work out some of the costs on the belt. There are two variables for this belt, length and width. Both effect price but they are hard to post on the web store.

      I should take down this video, it was mean to be a temporary video. I do intend to put more plates in stock but currently can not find the steel I need to make the plate. I was getting the steel at a surplus price. It wasn't cheap but still about 30% less than full cost. With the laser cutting the price would get ridiculous if I paid full price. Bookmark the link and keep checking back. The steel yard tells me they expect to get more but have no idea when.
