How To Sculpt A Face From Polymer Clay / DIY

  • How I sculpted the face for my poseable Gnome art doll from Super Sculpey polymer clay. Using Sculpey Ultralight on the armature. When baking thicker pieces of polymer clay like on the face I bake for roughly an hour to make sure it's cured all the way through. Use an oven thermometer to check the temperature stays steady. #fairytribe

    How long do u bake for and what degrees?
    You used a white sculpy and then the skin tone one, is this a different brand/ different material?
    Can I paint on the clay or put in oven first, harden and then paint?
    Also can the aluminum wire / foil go into oven?
    Thanks soo so much your work is beautiful!

    • @emzoddworks
      @emzoddworks  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi, so you need to follow the pack instructions but normally 130c for 60mins for larger pieces. The white one here is ultralight, not for sculpting with just for filling out the armature. The pink clay is super sculpey beige, foil and wire and clay go in the oven then you paint :)

    This is so crazy, I guess I never knew where to look all these years. I have been struggling with this being my interest for a decade easily. I am 53 now, and a 6ft 3 270lb guy who has for that time been trying to figure out why I wanted to make dolls... think about that! Then I stumble across a, lady named Emma doing the exact type of crafting I had stuck in my head yet never exposed to it before. I have been sculpting at times, then wired armature's then messing with Smooth On products in a vicious circle for like I said easily ten years. Never able to quite put the Trio together. So I have felt like a failure because I would keep spending money off and on in material, then it would sit because I would glaze over like a yummy Donut, but not in a good way obviously. I been married for 25 years to someone with ZERO interest in anything like this.
    Sure liked looking at it, but to desire to make them ..hell no! Pff.. Should of found a circle that I belonged in like this. Me thinks things would have been a tad different....

    I really like your sculpture but there's one thing that kind of creep me out your sculptures eyes they're so dark and black why did you make them black? Nevertheless you did a great job keep up the good work.

      lol a few people think the eyes look creepy, I just like them like that and they can be looking anywhere which is perfect for a poseable creature. :)
