This tutorial is for Inkscape version 0.92 and is intended to teach beginners how to use the software. Inkscape is a great free alternative to Illustrator and Corel Draw.

For everyone watching, in the new Inkscape version 1.x, there's an experimental path effect called "Extrude", which basically does all the work for you when it comes to connecting those edges.
thank you for doing these tutorials! I just started using any editing program and your videos are easy to follow and make learning this program actually fun.
This is awesome!
I love to see people making awesome stuff with free tools. Thanks!
Nick, you are a wonderful tutor. Your instructions are clear and to the point. You are not showing off your mouse skills, and the pace is just right for a beginer like me. Much appreciated.
After many failures and problems with new version I managed to do this. Your guides are really great but these new inkscape versions... Stroke to path, break apart... It will haunt me in my dreams FOREVER...
UGHHHHH, same...
The Master Of Inkscape
You are amazing!....its because of you I have developed so much interest in designing logos! Thank you soo much!
Amazing tutorial, thank you!
Amazing Work. Thanks
Amazing help
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! TKX BRO
Hi Nick. Thanks for the great tutorial. Version .92 looks great from what I have read. Unfortunately there isn't an easy .dmg file available yet for Mac to download and I haven't quite figured out how to install it using MacPorts or homebrew . I enjoy your videos and always learn a lot.
thanks for the video! why do we finalize the perspective bit by turning the text into a path didn't we already do that at the beginning?
love your tutor) thaks
Thanks for the tutorial. Any idea to automate it with a single filter in the latest inkscape?
Just found this channel, subscribed.
Is there any sort of special formatting I'd have to do on a logo I made to get it printed on a shirt as crisp as possible? And if so do you have a video explaining it? I've started doing graphic design work and I'm making a T shirt design for a sneaker shop and I really want my work to come out as professional as possible.
Amazing
I think you forgot to bezier the top left part of the number 3 in the tutorial, although you didnt in the thumbnail picture :)
Also I think you forgot an extra layer that creates a border line effect around the whole text.
Thank you for your videos they helped me a lot in using/learning Inkscape, keep up the good work :)
Hi Nick, your Tutorials are the best. Way better than anything else. Could you make more Tutorials with Affinity Designer? For Example how to do all that path effects from the Path effect editor like in this video or in the one with the fish (Word "fish" in a shape of a fish). Thank you very much
nick how would i go about making objects switch colors when they overlap ?
When I press stroke to path after creating the stroke it reverts it to before i changed the perspective
geneial you design: )
can i use any Font or does it have to be this specific font?
Hey Nick how would I combine the image through text with this design so that "White Part of the Letters is actually an image?
Import the image you want to use. Overlap the image and the "white part" to your desired position. Select the image and the "white part" together with shift+click. Taskbar -> Object -> Mask -> Set
First time I tried I had no problems, now after I put the outline on the letters and select 'stroke to path' then 'path break apart' it turns my shape black... idk what is happening or how to prevent it.
Well, whenever I try to use Object to Path after I changed the perspective of my text, one specific letter always jumps back to default perspective, although all letters are unified... Inkscape still seems like a glitchy mess to me
i love tutorial of:
lol
how to multify kind of font mister?
On Version 91 one can use Extensions>Modify Path>Envelope for making the letters fit with the box. But one don't have a live preview.
Correct, this tutorial is for version 92. It can still be done in 91, just differently.
There is an issue with mine at the stroke to path -> break apart. The colored outline comes up completely. Can you address this or go into more detail around the 9:27 mark. Thanks!
How can you do this with fonts with "normal" curved characters?
When going through the "Stroke to path" then "break apart" steps, nothing on my screen changes. I had this same issue with one of your other videos. What is the work around here?
if you have a new version of inkscape 1.0, then you need to go through the "stroke to path" and "ungroup" instead "break apart".
Same here, did you got a solution?
@@MrIDanko it didn't worked
When you showed the original logo, it had an extra white border. How do you create that?
Thanks!
Anch duplicate the whole thing, ungroup everything, path: join path, move the new object to the back and give it a fat outline
John Treeman thank you! :)
Which software you created video intro?
how can you tell if this font is free for commerical use or not? the website says nothing
For this tutorial is necessary the version 0.92 ....? Because in my version 0.91 when i open the Path Effect i don't see the option Perspective Envelope ................
Yes you need to have 0.92
Just done ..... with the new version 0.92 - Cool effect - Thank you .....
Awesome!
If you know how to make vector doves/birds, please make a tutorial. Also a tutorial for text that have a striped shadow will be cool. It is kind of hard to explain what I mean, but basically text with a shadow, but instead of the shadow being solid, it will have diagonal stripes. Hope you know what I mean.
God bless, sir. :)
which video editing software do you use?
Blender
Thanks! :D
HI NICK..i used the BEZIER pen to close the white between the two text...and then after SHIFT select the blue and the bezier area and PATH Union then nothing happen..did i miss any step or is there any other way??
I have the same question. Anyone find a solution?
Hi, can someone help me out. When i click on stroke to path then click the break apart, I dont see the effect. I have tried getting it done multiple times but failed
5:01 those arrows don't appear to me! Please Help. I'm using .92.4
How do you get more fonts?
nick you use inkscape viewer?
What's that?
I have version 92 and i don't seem to have the spacing between words and letters buttons. What am i missing?
Please Help!
I found it.. but i have to set my view to wide instead of custom....
hey I don't think you finished the title! how suspenseful!
Nah, it's all clickbait ;)
Oops, lol. Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed.
Why did you switch over to windows 10 from ubuntu?
Mainly so I can use Illustrator more often
I keep getting outlines on my shapes, it looks nothing like yours T_T
Why did you work in pixels and not inches?
Pixels is just what I'm used to, since I have a background in creating for digital use. When designing for print, inches is preferred.
think you
think you? XD
thank you
Why have you switched to windows 10? You do not see the options you use!
Yes, he built a new machine and he's using Win10 for now
i tried to follow step by step but my Inkscape refuses to do the same thing you are trying to teach.
why so many screen tearing inkscape?
I don't think there's actual screen tearing. It may just appear that way because I'm recording these videos at 15 fps in order to keep the file size practical.
An easier way is to extrude polygons between the two text layers and unite them to one path.
Or you just duplicate text and put it under main text and change color to darker
Nice!
Ps. Fix the title :v
Fixed. Thanks!
inkscape > illustrator
what the fuck!?!?!?! it doesn't work for me.
edit: nvm I was on the latest version not version 92
It's fast
Every Roblox youtuber uses that type of text
