yes this place is indeed very tasty and consistent. brisket and pulled pork are top notch. never had the ribs. if you are close by you must go.
I agree. The food is good. However, as an African American, I was not too thrilled about supporting my local establishment because the art displayed reminds me that I am not truly welcome in this town. Historic pictures of "whites only" style dining and "black cooks" being monitored by whites is not the way to welcome or embrace progress/ patron diversity. Hillsborough is s tranquil town, but the levels of subtle racism (not just towards blacks, but most minorities) is both overwhelming and disgusting. You rarely see minorities hanging out in downtown Hillsborough and obviously not by choice; we are made to feel unwelcome. This town is changing, but the people who run it don't want to embrace the diversity and wish to hold on to its "historic charm"...cool, but racism needs to be history and not a continued practice in modern day! I refuse to support this establishment until the images of blatant inferiority and privilege are replaced by more appropriate ones, perhaps pigs.
the depot was a great idea but hillsborough, like most of the state, is lame. you need to go up north on vacation and learn some things.
