After I’m finished grooming my rabbit I take the fur (which currently isn’t too much) and I go and place it in the grass outside. Birds take it and use it for their nests
I give it to my rats who use it as nesting material (especially if I have any pregnant does).
And squirrels, mice, whatever lives in your neighborhood!

So satisfying watching someone else get the same amount of fur from their bun. Also, little trick I use is a spray bottle for the loose hair. Not on my bunny of course, but to spray the fur on the table as I'm grooming my bunny, that way its not flying everywhere.

If you have a squirmy bunny, the Snug-A-Bun might help keep them still! It works for mine!! Also, the grooming gloves with rubber nubs work well because they just think they’re being petted.

Sterling sits soooo still and peacefully and just approves of you grooming him so well, wow! My two bunnies are so not comfortable on a table or other high objects when I put them there (I know that’s the reason why you should put them there while grooming, because they are too scared to jump off etc). Instead of just sitting there quietly, trusting me that I will protect them so they won’t fall and allowing me to treat them with a little spa and beauty care, they PANIC. They’re like ‘NO MOMMY GET ME OF THIS MOUNTAIN PLEASE HELP WHAT THE HELL R U DOING’, anxiously peeking over every edge, looking down at the floor, figuring out where the escape route is, then giving me constant nose bumps like ‘HEY YOU YES YOU GOT ME UP HERE SO YOU BETTER PUT ME BACK DOWN THERE HELLO HUMAN HELLO PLS LISTEN’.
So well, I figured that wasn’t gonna work. What I do now is while they are eating their pellets or grooming each other, I crawl on the floor with my collection of brushes and act like a fellow rabbit. 😂 It helps! They allow it when I do it like that and often my female rabbit even hops over to my side to lick and nibble and groom me too (SO CUTE). My advice: channel your inner rabbit and hop along on the groom train.
(Clipping their nails is something that I’m scared to do wrong though and I haven’t found a way to do so, if anyone has any advice, please help me out on that one ❤️)

@@dedebeebs Yup. For me, the ultimate challenge is clipping the nails. Every time he sees the nail clipper in my hand he thumps his feet on the ground and tries to hide. I only do it once a month too.

If the fur keeps coming then you need to keep brushing one hour, two hours, keep brushing. You’ll know when it’s time to stop. Once you open the coat, the fur keeps coming off and that is all fur the rabbits can ingest. I brush mine for at least two hours every six to eight weeks. Open the coat and then close it. Makes my life easier and my buns.

I hope you save or redistribute all that wonderful fur! I'm saving my kitty's fur, it's a lot softer that typical cat fur and he won't be around too much longer so it will make a very meaningful momento mori. 💓🐇💓🐈💓
He's such a cute bunny!!! My black bunny named after the Fire Princess Azula in The Last Airbender it's extremely fitting. Pure evil. We've had her for dinner time but man does she hate getting her nails clipped and hair brushed. Everything else she doesn't mind.
That fur can be added to a longer staple wool or angora and spun into yarn

Most of the fur will stay stuck to the towel plus she probably vacuumed after and disinfected. If she wasn't filming then she probably wouldnt do it there but there is better lighting for the camera

If you do not use a light, gentle pressure-and if you yank on her hair-it can hurt your rabbit and they will bite to defend themselves. Remember that a rabbit’s skin is extremely thin and fragile. It can actually tear quite easily! That’s why you must be very gentle with a brush, and use a brush that does not rake the skin, which is super painful and damaging.

My lionhead mix rabbit I got for Christmas only she’s once since I got him that was January of February when he shed but never shed again is that normal my other rabbit is five and she sued every few month but my other doesn’t
