Andrew the mere fact that you and Joel are constantly talking about safety just reinforces the fact that something is up. You appear very defensive, like you are trying to stop the bleeding.
Thinking like a woman helps a lot, as does skipping the sex tourism. But you can still run out of luck there a lot faster than many many other large cities in the world. That's because the country is under developed with weak institutions like the police and courts. Add post Covid desperation and a long history of violence and you have a country that is a level 3 advisory with the US State Dept. Now you can call them biased or alarmist, but Argentina is level 1, Costa Rica only 2, so what are the differences?
Lastly there are women that have run out of luck there, such as the Polish girl that was grabbed from behind with her bf on a trail by a knifed thief. There's also some first hand purse snatching accounts up here in CZcams. Surveillance cameras have recorded armed robberies, two guys on a moto where women were among the victims. Who knows how many such events go unreported. But if I were you I'd just wait for things to die down some. You only make it tougher on your Move to Medellin course selling business constantly talking about it.
