Hey everyone! My next video will be Van Halen related, where I talk about a string bending technique that Eddie would occasionally employ, and everyone always does it wrong (actually, I don't think most people even realize what Ed was doing). See you soon!
Can't wait!! Long live Eddie Van Halen! The greatest guitarist there ever was!
Now this is interesting 🤔
I’ve been playing almost 40 years and that’s a great lesson. Thank you for taking the time to share that with everyone!!
Thank you! No excessive talking just the content we want, keep up the great work!
Dude you are the GOLD STANDARD of these type of transcription videos! Thank you!
Thank you Mark! Rock on! :)
You're the man, PDX!! Unfortunately it took EVH passing to get me back into guitar. Just want to say thank you for teaching me some of his solos. The way you break it down in your videos is extremely helpful!! You are the man, keep it up!!
Hey Kyle, thanks for the nice comment bro. I'm glad you enjoy the videos, and I try to do them in the way I like learning too. Rock on! :)
Whole lotta lesson 🤘🏼Best lesson on the tube im not foolin. You've been schooling. I've been learning. ZoSo would approve
This is another stellar performance of why you so freaking awesome!
Hey Kelly thank you again! :)
Kool you broke out the LP for this Led Zeppelin lesson, sweet axe. Awesome as always. ROCK ON BRO! 👊 🎸
Thanks bro, as always! :)
easily the most useful video ever
Great lesson video, thanks for posting this video ! The tabs definitely helped me! 👍
Hi Dave !
Very cool cover/lesson of this iconic Jimmy Page solo ! Fortunately I got to hear him play it live when they were on tour for Led Zep II . His timing was slightly different , but the notes were the same. IT WAS LOUD !!!! I think you are right about the scratch/partially missed note. They probably heard the solo for the first time in the recording studio and realized it sounded too good to not use it! Ironically little hiccups like that keep those that follow guessing to do the "perfect" cover!!!!
Rock on, Bob
Hey Bob! Thanks for the great comment! Seeing Led Zep live must have been quite the experience, and of course I'm extremely jealous. Jimmy may have been a little sloppy at times, but he sure played with a lot of feel and passion. :)
Great time! I find your videos very accurate thanks for this 😀 this is next on my list.
You deserve way more followers
best tutorial for this song on CZcams, thnx
Outstanding lesson please keep posting them for these high accuracy lessons are very much needed, appreciated and loved.
Thank you! I knew the other lessons I found on youtube were missing something from this! Jimmy Page's best licks, IMO.
Great job and the presentation with your tabs helped a lot ,thank you..
Jetzt weiß ich, das ich es immer falsch gespielt habe 🙄
aber ab heute sieht die welt besser aus. Danke für diese super aufschlussreiche Lektion. Klasse 👍👍👍👍
Gern geschehen!
I love your attention to detail, thanks for another great lesson!
You are welcome! :)
Classic solo. Awesome job, Dave!! Hope you're having a great start to the new year!!! Rock on!
Thank you Bill! Happy New Year to you too bro! :)
Great ! ...had to refresh some parts of this NICE solo from Mr. Page
This was very helpful, been playing this wrong for years lol
People get the 2nd phrase wrong (1st position pullouts E pentatonic run). Thanks for doing it justice!
Hey Aaron, thank you! I'm glad you appreciate that :)
This is by far the best video I’ve seen for that solo. Thank you!
Time to destroy my finger tips with 13 gauges!
LOL good luck bro! :)
Whyyyy??!! 😂
Excelente maestro estoy aprendiendo mucho con usted 😊
Thank you for clarifying everything so accurately.
Dude love your videos. Can you do more easier solos like this one?
THANK YOU!
Thanks Howdy! Yes, I will continue to include easier ones like this, in the mix :)
You're great dude...
Thanks! :)
PERFECT
Thanks RL! :)
Best version online - love your work
This was very helpful, thank you, subbed
I like your style, easy to understand. i've learn it fast. Thanks
great lesson
Subbed for this attention to detail 👍
Great tute, subscribed.
Good stuff! You rock! Cheers, Al 🤘😁🤘
Thank you Al! :)
Very nicely played great tone.
Thank you! :)
Hey PDX, love your videos and the way you break up the solos, very informative. I do the main riff stretching the A string 5th fret slightly out of tune with the open D (does anyone else do that?) At the end of the solo, I hear the last note as a stretch from the 22nd fret, D to E. (unless it's a harmonic pinch?) I hear it plain as day, so maybe it's just me? Your videos help me out a lot, thanks for posting.
Another great lesson - thank you sooooo much!!
EXCELLENT!!!
Awesome !!! I'm gonna learn this solo if it's the last thing I ever do !
Guthrie Govan transcribed this for Guitar Techniques. Guess what 2 notes he missed....however good you are you have to listen Thanks Man
LOL I will check it out - Guthrie is awesome! :)
A man after my own heart…attention to detail! Really nice job, well paced, excellent audio levels.
Here is my question…what does Jimmy do to get that very first note of the solo to sound so ‘crunchy’? I hear like either a slide into the first note or almost like a heavy pick scrape. That very first note has some beef/punch/attack to it that I can’t seem to recreate. Thanks for a great video.
Great video upload!
Good lesson, thanks.
Thanks Fuzz!!! :)
Amazing video! Thanks a lot for making it!
Beautiful ! Thank you 😊
I have to work on the second section that is lower on the neck. My timing kind of goes to a jumble. The rest of it is coming easier for me.
Nice job.
obviously you are a massive van halen fan, and i loved your solo to the song "when its love ", but i cant for the life of me find any lessons on the whole song and especially the intro played on guitar and not keyboards. i reckon you should be the 1st on utube to do a full lesson - how about it? PLEASE, pretty please with sugar on top lol
Hey bro, at this point in time, I am only doing guitar solo videos. Sorry to disappoint, but I just want to be honest. :)
Good one!
thank you!
thank you very much sir...
Thanks bro! :)
Thank you bro!
You are welcome bro! :)
God bless man
Thanks mate
Thank you
Nice! I have that same shirt..
Love ur les paul great lesson man.
One question is the neck on that a
Baseball bat ?
I’ve never gotten into Led Zeppelin, though I haven’t been playing for too long. Awesome solo...Dave I’m BEGGING YOU 😩 Please consider Van Halen Not Enough Solo! 🙏🏽
Hey bro, I've still been thinking about that one too. Got a lot on the plate right now, but we shall see :)
@@PDXguitarfreak That’s all I wanted to hear 😄
Hey bro, I am still considering doing Not Enough... gotta bunch of projects in the way... we shall see :)
@@PDXguitarfreak no worries man! Take your time 👍🏽 I can’t imagine how much work it takes to do what you do. I’ll always be supporting you!
Communication breakdown, please!
Another super classic! I'll consider that one too... the list is long at the moment :)
Excellent interpretation PDX. I was about to ask you what gauge strings you were using on your LP. 9s.....thanks. Keep Rockin' on!
Yep, I almost always use 9s. Thanks GH! :)
Good music ❤🎼🎵🎶🎸🎻🪕
Are there any apps that you use to learn the solos (slow down or make the solo more auditable)
Can you do a lesson for Danzig-mother
Please do madhouse guitar solo by anthrax please!
No
Your right!! 😂 😂 Nice lesson per the usu...
Thanks Andy, as usual too! :)
@@PDXguitarfreak lol!
Try 7 Guage with stainless steel frets.
2.5 is easy! You'll be going 4.0 !
LOL I don't think I've ever tried (let alone seen) 7 gauge strings. But I can imagine bending the high e string past the low e string! :)
@@PDXguitarfreak BB King told Billy Gibbons , after Gibbons played BB's Guitar and asked BB "what Guage strings are on your guitar" BB said "7 gauge " BB continues " why are you working so hard Billy ?
@@mikehunty20 Great story! I knew Billy used super light strings, but never knew he picked it up from BB. :)
Most excellent!
2:00
Do you use 9s on your E flat guitars too?
Yeah, I do, although I've thought about upping those to 10s. :)
@@PDXguitarfreak I did too and honestly since changing I haven't looked back😉
@@andybrown1439 I know Slash does that too... or at least I know he did at one time :)
😁
I challenge you to 5150 solo, no one can (or has done) a competent lesson
Hey Dave, I have had quite a few requests for that. Awesome solo. The last time I went to learn it, there were a few phrases that I couldn't quite hear properly in the mix, and I'm of the mindset that I won't post a lesson unless I'm 99.9% confident I know all the notes. I'm not saying no... just need to revisit it at some point :)
@@PDXguitarfreak hey, I wanted to let you know, regardless whether you decide to (which I pray you do), I watch you in a daily basis in my attempts to learn the EVH solos you have put out. I am currently on Ice Cream man and On Fire. Please keep up the good work...you are pretty freaking awesome.
4:48 not me trying to learn this on 11-52s
Beat tutorial on the web easy
Hi, can I name Sped Spedding for also including the two missing notes, so well done to both of you. He does play the big bend and the last phrase bend different to you though. I can’t tell who is correct !
Hi Phil, I'm not familiar with him, but I will take it as a compliment :)
Dave, changing the cycle, one shitty tab at a time!!
