Yeah if you can feel the IUD inside you, it wasn't placed properly and won't be effective at preventing pregnancy

My wife got pregnant with an IUD after a little more than 4 months of being pregnant, we are now almost at week 11, and we just heard the heartbeat yesterday. Definitely a surprise, we had to take a few pregnancy tests to believe it, we were planning on waiting 3 years to have kids, and with apparently a 99.7% efficiency rate, we couldn't believe that we were part of the .3%. So far everything is going well, but it is definitely a change in plans!

I just found out my Mirena strings are missing from my recent gynecology appointment. I usually check for them once a month, but last month I didn't. I figured since I've had it I for 3 years. It should be fine. Always check for the strings once a month. Now I'm in the same boat as these ladies went through and waiting for my ultrasound appointment.

Jackie Lopez my friend wasn’t told about what to do if you become pregnant and she has iud. She’s actually really concerned because she suspects pregnancy and doesn’t know how doctors deal with that. Now that I know more about it I’ll tell her next chance I get

    • @jackielopez1522

PrincessLuLu that’s weird they always give hand outs of what to expect I think it’s mandatory. I made an appointment and asked what might options where for contraception before I got mine than I did research and I was given the forms before I went in and afterwards. The papers had the pros and cons. I can only talk about the clinic I went to and my experience and what the mandatory guidelines are when you go to the doctors. She needs to get tested ASAP because if she is pregnant she can have the device removed and can have a normal pregnancy but there is a chance that she can loose the baby during the process. I would also advise her to find a different OBGYN.

If your doctor tells you that you just need the IUD only, they are wrong! No birth control is 100% except total tubal removal called a salpingectomy. You MUST ALWAYS use at least 2 methods together. You can find a doctor to perform this on younger women, but you may have to do some looking around.
