    And keep in mind the guts it takes to sing this in front of a Metal crowd! now I know metal lovers are the most open minded music lovers out there but still,... 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

      Metal and classical music have a lot in common. If metal lovers would listen to classical music (and a lot that I know, do) they would hear the same emotions, like anger and joy. If classic lovers would give metal (especially symphonic metal) a change, the same.

    Beautiful music. Pergolesi's music is amazing. You should listen to the whole Stabat Mater.
    Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736).
    Not opera by the way. A 'series of poems put to music'.
    A great pity he died so young.

    Reading some notes off the DVD, the Orchestra were surprised by how much classical involvement they had in this concert, where they played instrumentals with Epica and the request to sing this song with them. Even in the last song, the Phantom Agony, the Orchestra plays on long after the band leave the stage.

    The Stabat Mater is one of the most famous medieval Latin poems on the Mother of God in her sorrow for the crucified Christ. It is named after the poem's opening words, Stabat mater dolorosa (English: 'The mother stood sorrowful')
    Lyrics:
    Stabat Mater Dolorosa
    At the Cross her station keeping,
    Stood the mournful Mother weeping,
    Close to Jesus to the last:
    Through her heart, his sorrow sharing,
    All his bitter anguish bearing,
    now at length the sword has pass'd.
    Oh, how sad and sore distress'd
    Was that Mother highly blest
    Of the sole-begotten One!
    Christ above in torment hangs;
    She beneath beholds the pangs
    Of her dying glorious Son.
    Is there one who would not weep,
    Whelm'd in miseries so deep,
    Christ's dear Mother to behold?
    Can the human heart refrain
    From partaking in her pain,
    In that Mother's pain untold?
    Bruis'd, derided, curs'd, defil'd,
    She beheld her tender Child
    All with bloody scourges rent;
    For the sins of his own nation,
    Saw Him hang in desolation,
    Till His Spirit forth He sent.
    O thou Mother! fount of love!
    Touch my spirit from above,
    Make my heart with thine accord:
    Make me feel as thou hast felt;
    Make my soul to glow and melt
    With the love of Christ my Lord.
    Holy Mother! pierce me through;
    In my heart each wound renew
    Of my Saviour crucified:
    Let me share with thee His pain,
    Who for all my sins was slain,
    Who for me in torments died.
    Let me mingle tears with thee,
    Mourning Him who mourn'd for me,
    All the days that I may live:
    By the Cross with thee to stay;
    There with thee to weep and pray;
    Is all I ask of thee to give.
    Virgin of all virgins blest!,
    Listen to my fond request:
    Let me share thy grief divine;
    Let me, to my latest breath,
    In my body bear the death
    Of that dying Son of thine.
    Wounded with his every wound,
    Steep my soul till it hath swoon'd,
    In His very blood away;
    Be to me, O Virgin, nigh,
    Lest in flames I burn and die,
    In his awful Judgment day.
    Christ, when Thou shalt call me hence,
    Be Thy Mother my defence,
    Be Thy Cross my victory;
    While my body here decays,
    May my soul thy goodness praise,
    Safe in Paradise with Thee.

    A monk, they don't know if he was French or Italian, wrote this poem in the 13th century. In those times it was very normal not to sign your work which cost a lot of confusion.
    In 1736 it was put on music by Pergolesi.
    It was meant to be as a replacement for the "old fashioned" version of Scarlatti, who put it on music in 1724.

    Pergolesi wrote this in a hurry at a young age, just before he died (he knew he was dying). It is about Mary seeing Jesus her son being crucified.

    This is not opera, this is religious baroque music. Talks about the mother, Mary, standing beneath her son on the cross, mourning. In classical singing you have four different main styles: opera, oratorio (religious mostly based on bible texts), lied (song, usually with piano, sometimes with orchestra) and concert (with orchestra, mostly vocal parts in symphonies). Each style asks for a different way of singing, because of performance tradition, time period, tuning and accompaniment.

    NIGHTWISH AND MEGADETH?? 🔥
    MARCO SINGING HEAVY SOLO? 🤘🏻
    My suggestion is another cover of them, which we HARDLY see on CZcams.🇳🇱
    And if you like a HEAVY Nightwish sound,
    this will be a very nice one! 🔥🤘🏻😎
    Marco is singing solo on this one.
    Check out their cover of Megadeth, symphony of destruction.
    AND A HEAVY SIREN FLOOR & MARCO?
    The second also hardly on CZcams, is a heavy Siren, The Siren performed live of course by Floor Jansen, and also again a very good singing Marco🔥❤️🤘🏻
    Enjoy it, and I with you!

    If you think about it, both of them were inspired by Tarja Turunen to train in classical singing.
