Here's how I solved it. After the third time of cracking and replacing, I trashed my ceramic and bought a American made Goldens' Cast Iron 20.5" kamado and yes they have a mini version. Not a single problem with 3/8 inch cast iron. Excellent heat retention for low and slow. Food tastes great, etc. I will never own ceramic again.

Hey friend, I had a question. Are both those materials non-toxic?

Why worry? You don't put your food on it. It coverred up by the cement i.e. not exposed the fire and fibre glass can take upto 1500 Celcius

Hi great video, why did you use fiberglass?, some videos just use refractory cement.

Agreed. I would not want to inhale vapors from any kind of glue no matter its max temp. If sniffing glue is still bad then cooking with glue = yikes! Hope he's alive and well & I hope he heated the grill to burn off the excess glue then cooked another time.

Fibre glass is to provide more strength to the mending (thin layer) to protect the mending from cracking due to thermal contraction or expansion. The hi temp cement from the tube is not thick enough not like the oven original wall

@@ghosttiger6188 it is not glue..it is hitemp cement

I would have chiselled the crack thicker to take more cement

It's a kamado from China, and the quality is bad.

The green egg, and all others have a higher than expected crack rate. Green will replace if under warranty, probably early on you get 100% and less over time.
