  • In this video we talk about AdBlue the component that is used in diesel cars. We are going to answer the following questions:
    What is AdBlue?
    Why is AdBlue used in cars?
    Why only diesel cars and not gasoline ones uses AdBlue?
    How to refill Citroën C-Elysee AdBlue tank?
    How much AdBlue consumes a Diesel car?
    AdBlue is use in cars to eliminate NO and NO2 gases also called NOx gases.
    Nitric oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide. This gases are very toxic for the humans and the AdBlue helps to turn them into water and nitrogen that are not bad for us.

    Sorry tronco, but as much as the centralita can ajust the AFR on a petrol engine via information received from the inlet and exhaust sensors, the centralita on a Diesel engine does the same via its sensors. If it was a pegaso from 1950, I’d agree with you, but a modern Diesel engine can change its AFR the same as a petrol engine.
    What you said about the way it reduces the emissions is correct, and assists in lower emissions.
    I just refilled my adblue (2021 Hyundai Santa Fe) after getting a low level warning (+\- quarter tank) after 26,000 which was just over a year of ownership.
    A 10l can (with spout included) cost €17, and I still had some left over for next year.

    • @GuyInAMountain
      @GuyInAMountain  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah, and I also learned a lot about the maintenance problems during this time. Like, the PSA tanks have to be replaced after only a few thousand kilometers, and the sprayer stops working because of crystallization.

  • @TheWhiskeyMan-rk7qv
    @TheWhiskeyMan-rk7qv Před 3 lety +6

    It's absolutely ridiculous what manufactures are forced to do with cars now. Luckily my diesel car is from 2012 so I haven't got to fanny around with AdBlue.

    • @GuyInAMountain
      @GuyInAMountain  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I see what you mean. It's true that things like AdBlue and other anti-pollution systems can make cars more expensive to buy and maintain. But if we don't do something, our cities are going to get more polluted and more people are going to get sick. I don't know about you, but I'd rather breathe clean air.

    • @GuyInAMountain
      @GuyInAMountain  Před 3 lety

      I like the question 🙂 Thanks. I read: Adblue has eight to 16 times the strength of your own urine. Sensors in the probably will detect is not the right stuff and problem will be worse... plus other substances that may damage the system. You may can try to concentrate urea from 16 liters of urine and filter other components. Too much work...

    • @GuyInAMountain
      @GuyInAMountain  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi. No, it is not the end. In fact, it is an electronic blockage. The car can run without adblue but manufacturers are force to set this blockage. If you buy a bottle of adblue and fill it should be good.

    • @fredsmith4106
      @fredsmith4106 Před 5 měsíci

      Why?
      It doesn’t affect engine performance, and the cost over a year is negligible.
      A year of adblue just cost me less than €17.
