It’s great to see your hard work and dedication pay off. You should be very proud of yourself. Congratulations!
Thank you so much! I definitely feel very proud of it (and excited for the rest of the story!) 😀
First time for me to see how a real comic book made and published, how much hard work involved to create this master piece. Thank you for posting this video, this video is not only useful for artists but also for people who love comics ,amd people who steping in to comic learning . Thank you but expecting this book to available in amazon too . Thank you
Great job pushing through and finding ways to make time to complete your comic. I just came across your videos and they've definitely made me want to get back into drawing after stopping when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing your journey!
This is absolutely amazing dude! Great job, the art is AWESOME
You’re the BEST! Thank you so much to link the size of comic books. It helps a lot! Your comic book looks sick bro
Dude this is so cool! I just started learning procreate and after seeing this I’m starting to think I could maybe work up the first issue of my comic. Gonna have to get your comic now!
Wow finally a artist that actually feels very motivated and actually tells you how or what you need to make your own comic book!
Thank you I'm planning on my own time to make my own comic book on my own pace and company ( like shonen jump) to make my own comics and this video is very helpful than most people and even I saved up to $1.2k to buy my supplies like iPad and more markers and pens and paint for my career I don't know or think it will be successful but I know I'm not going to give up thank you for your time on this video 😊
You got this! Good luck with your project! :D
@@ItsEnvinae thank you so much ma'am the same for you I pray for your success
Incredible work man, inspires me to make my own book
You can do it! 😁
Wow!!! Awesome video! This is super solid info, thanks!
Thank You for sharing your wonderful story... I am so much inspired...😇
this video is so good! i'm just beginning to start my own comic journey!! so i'm gonna be binging these videos
Yo this is so cool!! So happy for you 🎉
Keep going! Insane work!
This rules! I was actually researching how to work in Clip art studio because I'm currently working on a comic but seeing that I could do it in procreate, I think I'll save learning Clip Art Studio for later. Thank you!
Congratulations friend for all this process and dream! 💪⚔️🤙🤙😊
Duuude!! You don't know how I needed that video in my life! I was contemplating the idea of drawing comics cause it's my passion too!! Thanks for your Chanel! Was hesitating for iPad and procreate and now I'm convinced !
So excited for you! Let me know if you need any advice. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words! 🙏🏼😁
I love this comic book and eagerly await the next one.
It means so much for me to hear you say that! The next one's already in the oven! 😀
DUDE! crazy stuff mate. inspirational😊
Bro, I LOVE THIS, became an instant fan of YOU bro. Beautiful work.
Thank you sharing your process it is very intriguing and inspiring… thank you! Good luck with your series and self publishing journey! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
Very inspiring bro! Thanks for the fruitful sharing. Love it!
It’s really exciting to see you made a whole book in Procreate!! You’re making me want to figure out how to chase my own dreams of writing and illustrating my own stories 😁💜💜
It's not impossible! I believe in you! ⭐️😁
Thanks for sharing your journey! This is valuable information and can assist me in my current comic creation.
Wonderful! Wishing you all the best on your comics journey! 👊🏼😁
Very inspirational. Thanks.
I’m from nyc too I’m an electrician, I been trying to make my book for years but I’m just getting the right mindset, but I must say I feel like I lock in the best when I’m on a long train ride😂😂
Great stuff, love the vibe, and thank you for interesting info!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼😁
That looks great!
Dude you are such an inspiration 🎉
Salute to you sir Andrew 🫡 Thank you for inspiring me to make my own comic book!
Wish you success God Bless!🤞🏻🤞🏻
Eager to check this out!
I want to make and produce my own comic. And also write novels as well. I didn’t realize it was such a huge undertaking. I had no idea you could do it all in procreate!
I love your comic book you inspired me so much thanks
I'm so glad, Diego! Wishing you all the best in your art! 😀
Man your work is awesome and I seen you have finally done professional work. I think you will be able to work full time soon as a professional, you are as good as anyone I have seen. Great job.
I appreciate that! Thank you for watching and fingers crossed for the future! 🤞😁
i love it
I guess I'm late to the party. It's my first time seeing your channel, but I gotta say your comic looks amazing!
Man you are so cool, glad that I stumbled on your channel!
Welcome aboard! Thanks for being here! 😁
Gonna sound silly but reading your comic I got so excited when you had an a little archie comic feature! I love archie and it's something that never features or gets recognised! Keep doing what you're doing!
Thanks Cody! I absolutely love Archie comics; I read a metric ton of them growing up and all those characters are seared into my brain! 😁
Absolutely brilliant my friend! I am a tattoo artist/artist who is trying to create my own graphic novel too. It’s a hell of a lot of work and the info you gave in this video alone is so helpful and inspiring! I can’t wait to binge watch all your other videos! Definitely gonna order a copy of your book too! Looks amazing! Would you mind if I contacted you further just to pick your brain a little? Totally ok if not, I m ow how many crazies are out there! Haha
I must admit - i often thought of the transition from paper/pencil to digital art as a real cop-out and a cheat. Being a comic artist of sorts for the most of the last 46 years i would snub at the new guys using this media........ after seeing the work guys like you put in my perspective has evolved and i applaud you. Great work young man! I use an ipad for work now and only today have i gotten an apple pencil and decided to try out this digital art realm,,, looking for the best drawing apps suited for comic art. Would you still suggest procreate?
good job i was thinking of making a comic
great job!
Thanks! 🙏🏼
Good tips
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you! 😁
DUDE! thats so awesome love that you share your process I too am trying to self publish so your info is great keep it up. just one thing for some reason you audio on this video was a little off was hard to hear at times. thanks so much for all your do!
Sorry about that! I tried a new microphone for this video and the settings were a bit off. Gonna fix it next time! Good luck with your work! 😁
Awesome story brother 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 😀
Hi! I get a digital copy of The first issue, very nice, I can't wait for second.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm hard at work on the second! 😁
Love to cross over characters - SUPERB ACTION UNIVERSE HEROIC!
I'm going to try getting a copy
I hope you're able to get one! Let me know if you have any trouble! 😁
Thank you for drawing your comic and not using AI !!! Humanity needs more artists !!!
Couldn't agree more! Oh man don't get me started on AI...😂
What if one is a great comic writer, but no talent in drawing. Do his stories not deserve to get told. Artists are expensive and for an independent guy the profit margin is very low
@@Arnsteel634 as far as I see it using AI art is 100% lazy and no matter how good the story it doesn't matter it will still probably look like complete garbage in 99% of real artists views.
If a writer wants art for pennies he deserves to get pennies.
@@hyozanhades09 As a classic trained artist myself, I find that position to be slightly arrogant and very elitist at the same time. What if the writer can't afford to commission an artist to realize his/her vision? What if the writer is underage and can't even have an income to be able to sponsor anyone or anything? People that can't draw have used all sorts of tools to tell their stories since the dawn of time: sprites, photos, stick figures, etc. The way I see it, AI is just another tool in the toolbox (ethical issues notwithstanding) and people that want to use should be able to use it and not be shunned for their choice.
@@hyozanhades09cringe. A story is a story. If the art is compelling, who cares if AI created it? Plenty of artists throughout history have become very successful and respected by doing much "less"
Which iPads work for this?
Amazing looking book - congratulations! And thank you for the insight as to how you produced it - sooo useful!
Felt for you getting knocked back from NY CC this year - but… you’ll have an absolute knock out stall next year!
Thanks Doug! It's been a rocky year but I think I learned a lot! Next year will be even better! 😁
Congrats man.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Thank you for this video! But I can't find the kyle's inkbox brush, where I can found it?
Please make more print copies please! I'll order several!
Thanks for the great video!
More on the way! I'm gonna do a second printing of issue 1 hopefully soon. Thank you for the comment! 🙏🏼
Great video! Appreciate it and your comic looks great! With Kyle’s brushes now exclusive to Adobe CC, are there any alternatives you’d recommend? Like your style and was aiming for a similar brush set if there’s anything out there
Thank you! I recommend Max Ulichney's brushes (google up his MaxPacks -- the Watercolor set is probably the best in its class right now and his Comics set is great) as well as the Debaser Set from True Grit Texture Supply (if you like a chunky distressed ink line like I do!) 😁
What mic do you use sounds incredible 😍
this is very helpful tutorial! thank you for this information. only thing i can recomend is using good microphone, quality of the video will be even better
Agreed! Yeah I really borked my audio with this one! Will do better in the next one! And thank you for the kind feedback, appreciate it.😀
Thanks for your tips! which dpi size did you use for your comic on procreate?
Damn! This is so inspiring. Nagbabalak din ako gumawa ng comics ko when i got my ipad pro. Kaso parang nawala na yung passion ko to draw dahil busy na sa work. Anyway congrats!
Mahirap talagang mag-komiks habang may trabaho, pero kakayanin kung kaya! Don't think about passion or motivation, just start it and give it a little time everyday...you might surprise yourself! 😁
Man, I wish I was THAT good
I say this exact same thing when I look at other artists, haha! Just be yourself! No one can make comics like you can! 😁
Very interesting tutorials, and full of inspirations and humor.
Thank you so much! 😊
Hi, your tutorial helped me a lot and im actually making my own comic right now! I imported the comic live, trim, bleed template you linked in the description and it works great, but I have one question.
For the cover of my comic, do I have to stay within the live box? Or can I go into the trim and bleed?
You can go there but make sure the most important bits (logo, credits, etc.) stay within the live area. Honestly I’ve gotten away with scooching it a bit further out but not too much! You wanna be safe and anyway the extra space helps the design breath.
🚨PLEASE🚨 Tell me a vid on how to make that brushhhh please.
I didn't know Manila had a comic book shop 😮
This looks great man. Have you thought about running a crowd fund campaign and selling directly to the customer? I love comic shops, but the direct market is sort of limited
I have, but there's a lot of details I'm not sure how to handle as a one-man operation (like regional shipping). I just want to do it right. I'm planning to consult with someone who knows more about these, specially when it's time to do a collected edition! 😁
I have been following your journey. Would love to buy the digital copy of your comic book as I am based in India and shipping is expensive. All the best!
P.S. Thank you for inspiring me to finish my first book on an iPad 🙂
That's so wonderful to hear! There's no thrill quite like finishing your first book! Congratulations! 😁
how to download brushes
I’m a little confused by the dimensions being recommended because those are finished page dimensions. I see that you’re working within those final dimensions in ProCreate. Is that the way comic artists work now when done digitally now? It may be ok digitally but the way it used to be was that artists worked at bigger sizes. For instance EC Comics were drawn at double the size and on 18” x 22” then scanned and shrunk down. Some artists worked at 50% larger. And of course some still do. My Strathmoore printed template bristol board pages are 11” x 17” Of course that is hand drawn on paper, but I mention it because some people might not realize that important distinction. It may be alright if it’s going to be reinked digitally, but hand drawn/inked art work that is done at the same dimensions as the final comic size is not going to make for as clean an end result. I did read the blog and although it begins with saying those are final dimensions for the printer, he also seems to be recommending those sizes as if to work in that size. He says he gives his artists those dimensions to work in. He must mean digitally.
What do you think?
Hi! I work traditionally as well, and you're right that working bigger is the way (11x17 for me, although if you look at Quitely's "Batman & Robin" run, he drew them in pencil at letter size, so there are multiple approaches.) As I understand it: the most important facet of pre-press is getting your pages to print-ready resolution, which is minimum 300 dpi (dots per inch) of final dimensions. I draw my digital pages at 600 dpi, which is way more than the printer needs for that size. So it's effectively like working traditional 11 x 17" bristol, where I go big and get in all the details, then shrink it down for a crispy hi-res image. You still need to make sure you scan your artwork at a good dpi, then prep it for print the same way you would an all-digital page.
Amazing! Were you inspired by Opus???
This is a good video you should remake it with your current audio! Love your content btw you make want to follow my dreams!
I might do it when I release the next issue! 😁
Congrats on the fine work! Audio seems weird but I was still able to listen to it though it bothered my ears since it sounded too loud and muffled. Still,..thanks for sharing!
Sorry about that! I had microphone issues. I'll do better next time! 😅
What was your ppi
🔥 🔥🔥
🙏🏽😁
Dude this is sick, what iPad did you have to draw it?? And what stylus?
iPad Pro 12.9 M1 and Apple Pencil 2! Thanks man! 🙏🏽😁
Comics and graphic novels I think of making.
Ciro. A kid friendly graphic novel about a young kitten getting separated from his mom and making a family of friends in a summer camp.
Mech riders.
Taking place in a dusty industrial future where many vehicles such as cars, trucks and planes have been given the ability to change into robot like shapes like transformers. Now young vehicle and robot loving teen boy Axel makes a big bond with a red vehicle robot he named red rod.
Dragon Worship.
Following the adventures of Ash, a dragon loving human boy, Glimmer who is a white and blue dragon, and their friends group of dragon riding people. Embarking travels around the world to discover new environments and new dragons.
Players of power.
A far placed follow up to the 2015 sony Columbia pictures film; Pixels. Taking place in the late 2080s or 90s following the adventures of a 13 (later 14) year old boy named Tom and his gang of video game fans as they use futuristic versions of Nintendo’s power gloves and zappers to combat a virus that brings video games to life and attack.
Software Soren.
Focusing on a smart school boy who’s given technopathic powers after an accident in his grandfather’s lab. Now able to form An advanced exo suit inspired by iron man, mega man and maybe Kamen rider.
I noticed kyle websters brushes are now only on adobe / photoshop. Do you have an updated recommendation for procreate brushes that you'd use for inking / linework?
Recent good news: Kyle Webster just quit Adobe and has switched over to making brushes for Procreate! So I expect we'll have some good stuff coming from him this year (and I'll probably make a video about it when he does.) In the meantime I like Clayton Henry's Procreate inking brush (he's a DC artist like me) and the Comics Maxpack by Max Ulichney.
@Comicbooker awesome info man, I'll check those brushes out! You got me wanting to make my first digital comic (always been juat traditional artist lol) love your work man, keep it up!
Pls how can I have 1comic
hi, if you're done drawing comics in procreate, in what format are you saving it?
is it JPEG?
For print, TIFF! For web, JPEG! 😁
😊👍
Would you be willing to offer you page template for other comicers to buy/download so they can draw in confidence knowing where the bleed lines are?
Hi Brandon! The templates are freely available online! All credit goes to Aditya Bidikar who made them. Here's the article where he explains it (scroll down towards the bottom for the download link):
buttondown.email/adityab/archive/strange-animals-2021-8-the-comics-creators/
@@Comicbooker thanks very much man! Great video btw!
Where did you download the smooth brush
It's a Kyle T. Webster brush but it's a little confusing to get now that he's Adobe exclusive. Check here and follow the trail: www.kylebrush.com/
Love the video but I hope you fix your audio.
!Great video! (we need to get you a better mic tho)
Thank you! (And I knowww haha omg audio issues are my nemesis 😂)
How has the book been selling?
Pretty good! I sold half of my first print run during the first month of release, and it's been a steady trickle since then. I only have about 10 copies left though so I may go into a second printing soon!
Hi
Very cool story and amazing artwork! I sent you an email!
Can procreate be downloaded on pc
Sadly, no. But Clip Studio can, and it's excellent for making comics too! Arguably the better program for it, TBH. 😅
@@Comicbooker I downloaded paki, or was it taki? Idk one of them tho. It has not failed me yet
@@Comicbookerisn’t clip very expensive
Good content. The sound quality needs work though
Thank you! I'll do better with the sound next time! 😅

LOL I know, I'm so sorry haha! I'll do better next time! 😅
It looks like Kyle 'sold out' and is now a pawn for Adobe (boo, hiss). Oh well, maybe when they collapse under their own weight he'll support procreate again? :D
Cool your doing all this, but honestly the comic and the art itself look very bland. Like all the other mainstream comics on the shelves.
