I watched a few interviews with Ren from 3ish years ago and it's just so wild that he's perfectly content with just busking and making music and he honest to god doesn't give two f*cks about becoming rich and famous. He's incredibly humble and he's in it simply for the love of music. I really don't know any other artist from any other genre of music that can match that kind of attitude, especially someone that's been doing this for over 20 years now! It's just truly amazing to me that he's been busking since he was 12, and he just celebrated his 33rd birthday! He also said there are several more singles from his album Sick Boi that he's dropping between now and the summer. He also said he still hasn't released his top 2 personal favorites from the album, which just blows my mind! I think when Sick Boi the album drops is when he's going to break out into the stratosphere.
This is only the beginning I can see a lot of Prince in this musical genius. So looking forward to what's next
I trust Ren was being honest with us and with himself in Hi Ren. He expressed the modest sentiments you mention. But his subconscious taunts him about wanting to be the next Jimmy Hendrix and when Ren denies it, he counters with "I'm inside you, you twat". He's pushed to admit he wants massive success and that he's aware he's a genius. He gave us a glimpse into his soul and laid himself bare to our judgement. Of course he wants huge success and to be heard and to leave his mark for immortality. I don't think he gives a damn about the money, but fame? Hell ya and who can blame him? He's amazing.

Ren was busking from a young age where he was discovered by someone from Sony and signed to them almost on the spot, but then illness struck and he was dropped so went back to busking to support himself. He did Solo Busking, and with his Band The Big Push, around Brighton for many Years and it got to the point where eventually Hundreds of people would turn up and roads had to be shut, there are many videos on CZcams of him and his friends busking, you picked one of the best ones here because they are not all filmed in this quality, for something different try, The Big Push - Watch Out (live busking), one of their original Songs, Ren was still busking up until late last year when he had to go to Canada for his Treatment, as always great reaction from the two of you. Oh and toss out the Stroganoff and show me the Mashup 🤣
Busking is putting out the hat on the street and performing . Especially in big cities and tourist towns.
Ren was first discovered busking in Bath I think during college. Signed by Sony but dropped when he got too sick to finish first album.

Another great reaction guys! Just when you think you have a handle on what Ren can do, he hits you with another side of his incredible talent. Busking is simply the act of playing music on the street. Ren and The Big Push are probably one of the best bands you will see still doing this. It is definitely worth checking out War Pigs, which followed this. Plus also Wade in the water/Nina Simone/Trouble so hard, An Englishman in New York and Paint it Black or an original Big Push song Watch Out. All worth a look even if you don't put them up as reactions.

Busking is when musicians go on the streets or any public place and perform. They do it for tips that people passing by, or who stay to watch, pay them. Musicians do it in many cities in the U.S. also.
It's not bush king it's busking which is used to describe a street performance.
The good old busking..lol I'm sure it's already been explained but we need more of this. I'm in Australia where we do get to see a fair amount of busking but nothing this big. Usually just one or two people playing an instrument and singing. Thanks for the video. Ren is a freak of talent
Busking not bushking😂 it's just someone who does entertainment in a public place. It can be anything, not just music. Usually it's music though, typicly it will be someone with a guitar playing in public with their guitar case open so people can put money in it. Sometimes you do come across some very talented people though.

I first started following The Big Push and Ren & Sam a few years ago, but then I wasnt seeing new stuff and forgot to stay on top of their music. One Facebook post at that time indicated they had published their busking location & time on the socials and were greeted by over 300 waiting audience members, standing on the street.
Imagine the surprise when I connected Ren, from "Hi Ren" back to the other groups. Hes outrageously talented.

A busker does busking lol it’s basically when an entertainer performs unofficially in a public space (the streets, train/subway stations etc and does it for voluntary contributions… so you will have seen buskers most likely but possibly call them something else? Great reaction video!

The pandemic made him rethink his attitude toward "I'm good enough to function." He is very vulnerable with the screwed up immune system. So band went separate ways for awhile anyway.

Ren has had a record contract but dropped due to continued health issues taking him out.. Also, The Big Push was about to go on tour before he went to Canada for these treatments.

Busking is literally just playing on the street for an audience. And yes, I would not be able to just walk by, my jaw would be on the ground and I would just be catatonic. LOL!

The artist in Ren will always crave the atmosphere of closeness to his audience and I honestly believe that no matter how "big" he, or The Big Push, get, he will still do some amount of busking, if only to keep close to his roots.

Busking, pronounced like bus-king is just literally entertaining out in public for money, and it’s called that here in the US as well. I live near Seattle and there’s tons of buskers(street performers), in the city you actually need a busking permit to do it

As everybody and their cat already told busking is street performance. That's where his roots are and probably what had a big influence on him becoming a real performer instead of a musician.
There's a fun little piece of video where Sam Tompkins details his first meeting Ren while he was busking, how Ren approached him and suggested him playing guitar for him which resulted in their very first performance together, an experience that profoundly changed how he approached music and performing. It was filmed by his friends
