    Hi Melissa. I just love the texture of this lotion and how it feels on my face. However when i read the ingredients, third ingredient is isopropyl palmitate which is known to be comedogenic. So i stopped using it to avoid any breakouts. What do you think?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I'm quite skeptical about the comedogenic scale. It might serve as an indicator if you actually experience breakouts from a specific product, helping you pinpoint the cause. However, I believe that most skin issues are linked to not washing the skin properly in the first place. Mixing dead skin cells, dirt, cleanser residue, etc., with the lotion or cream you apply can lead to clogged pores, particularly if the product creates an overly occlusive barrier. This is especially true for oily skin types, which are not suited for these formulations. Even with non-comedogenic ingredients, you can encounter this issue.
      How long have you been using it, and did you actually experience any breakouts?

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thanks for your reply. I recently started breaking out first time ever in life after stopping breastfeeding, so I was just avoiding any comedonic ingredient in skincare.

      Just use a moisturizer if your skin gets dry, or use an oil-free/gel or gel-cream moisturizer instead! :)

      Yeah, most often we don't know the exact amount, making it difficult to judge if you really need an additional serum. However, you could try it. Alternatively, simply add 1 drop to the moisturizer, mix it to give it a little boost, and then apply that mixture. :)

    HI Melissa, can I use female skin care products on male skin. I want to go with clinique range and don't particularly want their mens range as the female products look a lot better. Thanks!

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It's primarily marketing, focusing on the fragrances they alter. Many products have a distinctly feminine fragrance, especially from these companies, but the ingredients are often similar or even identical. This means you can use the products you prefer.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Před 4 měsíci

      Correct, it's meant to mimic the skin's oils and barrier to help protect it from the environment and should help to retain its moisture better.

      Give your skin a break for a week or two, then try using it again to see if the issue stops or recurs. If it comes back, it's best to stop using it completely.

      @@dococ__1905 That's impossible because there are so many combinations to consider, and there is no clear guideline for skincare companies.
