- Watch as Montreal Canadiens' captain Nick Suzuki puts it away past Ilya Sorokin with one of the most ridiculous finishes of the year, out-skating Bolduc then sending the puck top corner with a one-handed backhand on one knee, shorthanded nonetheless.

this will go on the list of the most under rated goals of the season
And how do you think it’s underrated
@@samspade4050 lol what? The dude scored one handed, from he’s knees, while short handed
@@nebula6084 yes and yet somehow you called it underrated, why would anyone think it’s underrated. Get a dictionary pal
its amazing how I am not seeing this everywhere. Leaf fan here but holy moly that was an incredible goal and great hustle by Suzuki. Montreal is going to be fun to watch in the future.
He was holding the defenders stick. Should have been a penalty
That Suzuki goal will one of the best goals scored this 22/23 National Hockey League Season
I second this
Third it!
It was a penalty…. 😂😂😂
probably his career too
It sure will one of the best
What a great goal. Awesome to see effort + talent in the pros
Don't let the baby face fool you.. He's a big guy. Strong kid
Funny
That should win goal of the week.
That is one of the greatest goals I’ve ever seen
One-handed !! Wow what a goal !!
That's a Hat-Pick for sure.
What a goal
Suzuki is just amazing
What an effort
His best goal ever
To bad all of his line mates got injured then all the guys replacing his line mates got injured. I still believe that if this team stayed healthy he’d be a point per game and Caufield would have at least forty. Maybe next year.
Yup, if he progresses and gets lucky, maybe 40 points. But still see him as a 35 pt man a year.
@@chr970 I'm confused ... he literally has two straight seasons with 60+ points?
Facts
@@chr970 35pts? Drouin numbers
@@stipuleddemon yes, number 14 is good for 60 points a year...... I was referring to caufield, someone said he would get 40 points.....I said if he gets lucky and doesn’t get hurt, maybe 40 points.....but I think he will be a 35 pt person his career. GHG
Shorthand goal, one knee, back hand, reverse, top corner, full speed 🤯
And one hand on the stick
@lovelyrat33 yes that doesn't make any sense to me.
@@lovelyrat33 with a man on his back
crazy goal
Nick had himself an excellent season in 2023. He recorded a career high 25 goals, tied his best season with 40 assists, and collected 65 pts. Next season, there's going to be a lot of coverage and defense on Cole Caufield so Suzuki will find himself with plenty of scoring opportunities. He may even score 30+ goals.
Great goal. Stick that on the highlight reel.
That was INCREDIBLE!
No quit in the captain
Remind me of Byron vs Toronto game 1
good memory - was thinking the same
Beautiful
Slick Nick!
What a beaut
Sweet! GO HABS GO!!!
Wowie wowzer! Nice one Zuke!
Unreal Crosby-esque effort
I'm not saying that wasn't very impressive- the skating effort, the ability to place such a shot like that while reaching so far and using one hand - but it's x1000 easier to do a rising one handed shot when the puck is rolling on its side.
@@martinskowronek Lol I said it was a Crosby-like effort. Grow up.
Suzuki is a straight up ninja 🥷
And to think people doubt if Suzuki is a number one center and captain material.
A 200ft playmaking center without quality wingers!
Legend!
Such a great skater
Amazing!
Slick nick
That was nice
Greatness
What a hold, I mean goal...
One handed top corner.
Crosby-like.
Nice
For anyone who doesn't think this is a highlight reel goal, grab the butt-end of a hockey stick with one hand and try to shoot the puck up as Suzuki did with the blade curve away from the puck (basically a backhand shot). Then try to do it while holding off another player with your other hand. To say nothing of the fact Suzuki had to outrun the defender to the puck. This is most definitely a Steve Dangle Hat-Pick.
To be fair, he just kind of slapped at the puck weakly. Compare this to the one handed backhand that Sid scored where you can see his strength, this was more of a desperate hit. Maybe the change up fooled the goalie. Still, he scored so there’s that. ghg
Yes, grab the defending player's stick and hope you don't get called for it, if you are in a Canadiens' uniform against the Islanders or most teams, you will get away with it
Should be a penalty on Suzuki for holding Bolduc's stick with his FREE HAND. An absolute joke of a goal.
@@danielnam9026 To be fair, Bolduc put his stick across Suzuki, which is a penalty itself. But, as to the rest, do as I suggest, grab a hockey stick by the butt end (with one hand) and try to do anything with it. I think you'll find it a bit difficult.
One handed shots of any kind are insanely hard and filthy. Great goal, but he got a huge break on that hold...
🤯 WOW
Wowwwwww
First time I've seen a goal like that.
There is Crosby with one backhand too few years ago.
@@dextrosebizarre yeah very similar but crosby had position and posetion
As a leafs fan that was a beauty
@@spacecactus12 that’s a fact screw Boston 😤
I kinda maybe saw a stick hold. Coming from a Suzuki Habs fan
Siiiiiick
one handed too
Very impressive, this is McDavid’s style!
Wow
Is that like... top 5 goals of the season?
Second only to Byron's shorty in Game 1 playoff against the Leafs.
Thats a Hat Pick by Slick Nick
One of the only real nhl players on the Canadiens
Only real nhl’er who isn’t injured on the Canadians. I’m not even making a joke, him, Matherson and Edmundson are the only guys left from their original roster this season.
@@politicalbandwagon4989 funny enough Matheson wasn't even playing on opening night, so technically only Suzuki and Edmundson are left from then.
@@mikeamber2528 na, suzuki & Kovacevic are the only 2. perhaps the pizza man but he's not a lock for regular. edmundson was not on opening night.
@mike amber Edmundson wasnt even there on opening night x)
...looked like Lafleur...
As good as Ovy's on his back goal.
Did any1 notice holding the stick by Nick on that play? Should not have counted. Luckily it wasn't against the Laffs they would have called it back.
At first it looked like an amazing shot, but in replay, it clearly shows that Suzuki was holding the other guy’s stick. How is that not a penalty on him? The playoffs is about to start, may as well start questioning every call or non-call the refs make.
the defender was using his stick to hold nick back and was trying to interfere with him. go off though
That is a textbook holding penalty.
He didn't use his stick to hold him back. He leaned his body into him like you're suppose to and used his arms, but didn't do a good job of it at all. It made it look like it. When i cut in, i use your body weight for stability, and I'll swat a stick away. That was clearly a hold lol. I'm all for two guys doing stuff to each other and cancelling their shenanigans out. I wouldn't call anything on that, but I'd call this on you. There's a huge difference between holding someone with your body/arms compared to legit grabbing a twig. They all do it to each other against the boards.
Nice play got away with holding though.
Candidate for the goal of the year but to be fair, he grabbed the d-man's stick. Should have be a penalty on the play.
Suzuki was holding the defenders stick should have been a penalty
The amount of salty people that have never played hockey wanting a "holding call" on that are absolutely as clowney and can be
Nick « hayabuza » Suzuki
Literally held his stick. Take the L.
I guess everyone is gonna ignore the blatant uncalled holding penalty on Nick. Was a pretty nice chip....but Grabbing the stick of the defenseman so he is unable to use his stick to defend greatly affects the play.
Bolduc was benched for the rest of the game
I don't really care for either one of these teams, but shouldn't that have been a penalty instead for holding the islanders players stick?
I'm not trying to take away from the skill, it looked good, but would he still been able to pull that off if the islanders player had control of his own stick?
This goal somehow won’t even make top 50
na, you're wong its 55 come to 56 years
He might have tried to defend a little better if Suzuki didn’t grab his stick
Lol omg you must be a leafs fan
@@samspade4050 nah he's probably just stupid...although I see why you were thinking Leafs fan
@@samspade4050 you mean islander?😂
@@jonah.donohue did u feel a breeze on the top of ur head?
@@chriswilliams4575 right on the bald spot! 🌬️
All the while holding the Stick. Should have been a Penalty and Goal taken back.
great observation. given the habs dismal season - the refs probably let it go. but from nyi perspective they were looking to clinch so they were probably pissed. i wonder why no challenge. not an nyi fan (habs fans actually) but i want to see nyi take out the bruins so bad!!!!!
if they did that everytime someone holds a stick they would be cancelling half the goals every night.
Canadiens' Suzuki Blatantly Held Bolduc's Stick to Score a Shorthanded Goal*
Imagine if they called a penalty every time that happened.
@@politicalbandwagon4989 Imagine also if Bolduc was not trying to hold back Suzuki with his stick and not leaning to the left to do interference.
@@charles-etiennerouleau3010 I can’t even tell what your trying to say here.
@@politicalbandwagon4989 I mean, Bolduc would be the one deserving a penalty on that play..
@@politicalbandwagon4989 It's one of the calls they're supposed to call every time like putting your hand over the puck during the faceoff
man these goalies have really bad reflexes.
Bet he is a decent golfer
Should have been a holding penalty. He was holding Bolduc’s stick….😂😂😂😂
@Powell Games What rule is that in the rule book?
@Powell Games Closing your hand around an opponent’s stick is not a significant penalty? Ok seems like your ignoring clear facts. Only reason it wasn’t called was because the ref was behind the play and couldn’t see it.
@Hard Sardines I’m not salty we are in the playoffs 😂😂😂😂
In ice hockey, holding the stick is a penalty called when a player intentionally holds an opposing player's stick in his hands and between any part of his body (i.e. under arms or between legs) to restrict the opposing player's ability to play the puck. The referee will call a minor penalty for this infraction.
Suzuki was lucky the refs didn't call it a penalty. The goal shouldn't have counted. Holding the stick is a penalty, it's not even a debate.
should've been a penalty. He literally grabbed Bolduc's stick... lmfao?
One-handed cause Suzuki's free hand is holding onto Bolduc's stick.. that should be a penalty on Suzuki and the goal should be called back. Absolute garbage officiating.
Islanders score 4 and clinch playoffs and sportsnet can only bother uploading 2 of the Canadiens 13 goals this season.
What an absolute tool. That was a great goal by any measure Moe Ron
Shades of Blake Wheeler
What a goal
