Lol when I took my pilot bearing out of my supra, I just stuffed bread behind the pilot bearing till it pushed it out. weired method I've ever done but it cost me a slice of bread

Adam use Rhino Line on the under body it works really well and sticks really good its used on roll cages in off road cars that are exposed to the elements and it is heat resistant

Hey Adam. Glad to see you bought a pilot bushing tool. However I used strip of paper soaked in water. Cram them down the hole and use I believe a 10mm socket just smaller then the bushing and tap it with a hammer. Tap and stuff till it just pops out. But you got your tool so you'll be good from now on.

Spray the under part of your car with bed liner for trucks
Last time when I had issue with that pilot bearing tool I used bread and just kept stuffing it through the pilot bearing to pressurize it outwards and it actually worked! Coincidence cause I just recently swapped out my ka transmission also! 👏👏

I'm sure someone's said this already. Adam if you pump the brake pedal 2-3 times with the engine off and then hold the brake pedal down with pressure on it and start the engine you should feel the pedal going down a little bit more. This is the vacuum in the brake booster assisting you with braking as it should be.

just a little trick ive have for removing pilot bearings is wedging as much wet newspaper in the as you can and punch it in with a socket extension and it pops right out , yes i know it sounds crazy but it works
If the tool doesn't fit in the bearing you can punch the pin that holds the arm out and put the tool back together when you have both arms in the old pilot bearing.
You can get cans of the underbody spray. Long term that would be best dude. Easy to apply.
Adam, get some naval jelly for the surface rust. its acid in the form of gel so it will stick. you leave it on for 15-30min then clean it off and you should have bare metal

the tool you had for the bearing was perfect. you just use one hook/arm thing and pull. Ive done it plenty of times. the modification to the tool was unnecessary lol
Alberto, You can also use white bread to remove a pilot bearing if you don't have a puller.

You should try the wet newspaper trick next time you need to pull a blind bearing or bushing. Find a socket or other metal cylinder that fits nicely though the hole, then use it to pack wet newspaper in, keep jamming more in (tapping it in with a hammer) and eventually the bearing will be pushed out.

You don't actually have to return the rental tools at O'Reilly's or advance auto parts. They're considered sold when you get them but you're aloud to return them. They will even order you new ones if you don't want the used ones. I worked for both companies so I know for sure and live in Florida as well. Also after 90 days you own it regardless if not returned because of store policy on all returns.

You should put under body spray instead of the black paint, it'll last a lot longer with all the road debris and stuff. That way it won't rust when the paint chips off.

Adam use a product called por 15 for the frame rails i the future you can put it over any bare painted or rusty metal and it will prevent from the rust spreading

My bearing makes the same noise but it didn't start till replaced a broken transmission 6 months after installing an ACT 6 puck sprung clutch. I figured the bearing was going to go out soon but I didn't feel like pulling the transmission again so I was just going to keep driving the car till it broke but I guess its good to know it'll be fine.
Next time you're in a crunch and need to remove the pilot bearing you can use a piece of bread or filler material. I have a video about it on my channel for reference!

@ 9:13 You don't need a puller if you have grease and something you can hit that is roughly the same size as the inside diameter of the old bearing. Fill the hole full of grease, i have sockets i use that i also fill full of grease, then with a dead blow hammer, line it in the centre and give it a really good smack. As grease is non compressible, the force will hydraulic and start to push the bearing out, repeat until it pops out, easy as and you don't need expensive tools or have to wait, once it's out, it's not hard to clean off a bit of grease.
