Pirates of the Caribbean : Tales of the Code - Wedlocked

- A funny short-film, prequel to The Curse of the Black Pearl, which help explain some of the secrets behind Pirates of the Carribean...
Starring Vanessa Branch as Giselle, Lauren Maher as Scarlett and John Vickery as the Auctioneer.
This short film was written by Terry Rossio & Ted Elliott and directed by James Ward Byrkit, shortly after At World's End. Jim Byrkit worked on each film of the first Pirates trilogy, as a consultant of the making of CotBP and as the storyboard concept artist of DMC and AWE. He also assisted in the creating of the Mao Kun Map (Sao Feng's map) and of the Pirata Codex (the pirate codebook).
The POTC Wiki has done an interview with him, if you're interested, just follow the link : pirates.wikia.com/wiki/User_bl...
If english isn't your first language, here's a link to a POTC Wiki page with subtitles : pirates.wikia.com/wiki/User_bl...!

"Nigel you love that goat. You LOVE that goat."
“And a goat!”
Things revealed: why exactly Scarlett and Giselle are mad at Jack; how the dingy at the beginning of Curse of the Black Pearl started filling with water; how Cotton lost his tongue. All in eight minutes.
Wonderful show.
And why jack told Giselle "It is pronounced "Egregious"
Couldn't have said it it better myself
So was it Cotton's parrot that cost him his tongue?
Why jack is only in one scene
Is the code supposed kept by jack’s father?
My mother was a great fan of Johnny Depp, and also a huge fan of Pirates of the Caribbean. I think she never saw this, she would love. She passed away in 2019 'cause of cancer... But we saw every movie together. Miss her so much...

"Captain Teague will have his head"
he was found decapitated by a guitar two days later.
Really
And one day later cotton lost his tongue
So if Captain Teague were to have the head responsible for shooting The Code Book, then I wonder what Mum did to have her head shrunken. Had she spoken of The Code before anyone else did?
The head was found in some stew made from goats... Goats-Head-Stew, geddit, huh huh huh...
Wow, Cotton actually spoke. Now I finally know how he lost his tongue, too. XD
and for good reason too, even Cotton was loyal to the Code
pls tell me how cause it doent evan show his tongue gong
Wish more of these were made! Imagine one that shows Captain Teague in his Pirate Lord days, or one with Pintel and Ragetti escaping Fort Charles or abandoning Barbossa when Blackbeard attacked. Or better yet...Elizabeth's adventures as King of the Brethren Court!
... or finally showing how all the chest-hair and-turtles ordeal works :)
@@xanderbg1 he didnt escape that way, remember he says some rum runners cam to their secret island that just so happened to be the one he was marooned on. He was only there for 3 days.

the future of the POTC films has really suffered in my mind by the death of cottons actor. he was a silent but valued crew mate. it is pretty fulfilling here that we get a bit more of his story and get to see him speak.
I discovered about his passing just a couple weeks from when I'm typing this down and I can't really imagine another Pirates without him (and Johnny).
@@kronfischer you don't need to imagine there have already been 2 potc movies without him but yes it is very sad that he passed away

Rest in peace Mr. David Bailie.
Does anyone else wish this was on Disney +? This was hilarious and features my favorite character from the “Pirates” ride, The Auctioneer. Why has it taken me this long to discover this gem? Such a shame it was on the Limited Edition 4 movie Collection Blu-ray Bundle Set, as this deserves to be seen by more fans of the “Pirates” franchise. 👍👍
Because of the topic of selling women I don't think it will ever get put on there. That's why they changed the ride too.
"We formed a cooperation" :p
Haha so random
"corporation" you low IQ doofus
he has dreamy eyes and speaks fancy words with lots of syllables
shortest description of jacks character ever made
Mr. Cotton and Mr. Cotton's parrot! So that's why his tongue was cut off
He probably told Captain Teague about what happened and that's why that guy who shot the code cut off his tongue and then later that dude that shot the code is later found on Teague's guitar
so thats how he lost 'is tongue
LOVE the Captain Teague reference! :D
MsDaydream3r where is the captain Teague reference?

It's pretty hard to get. Only the treasure chest box set contains it on a special blu ray disc. Or the UK 2011 4 film collection set has it.
I came here to say this
thanks to youtube i guess.
It's definitely on the UK 4 movie blu ray set. I just picked it up and there it is!👍

Can't believe I've just heard of this! Thank you Wikipedia! I'm gonna have a Pirates marathon, not seen the two newer ones all the way and they are some great fun movies.

SO THAT'S WHY ALL OF THAT HAPPENED!!!!! I feel like this just answered the questions of the universe.
When I heard that this is a prequel to Curse of The Black Pearl
I thought it would show how Barbossa mutinied upon Jack
But this works too I guess
Its all bullshit. Jack Sparrow BECAME a pirate because he freed a shipload of slaves that belonged to Lord Beckett. Hence during their exchange "You cost me, Jack" and "People aren't cargo, mate" He would never sell anyone. Great clip thou, fantastic job.
+KT Simpson I think it was more like a joke... For Sparrow I mean
+KT Simpson Calm down
He was gonna steal 'em back anyway. He just got a little sidetracked.
Georgia Jansen It was supposed to be a con, but Jack got sidetracked and forgot to free the ladies.
KT Simpson
Those aren't people. Those are salty wenches
Mum's the word!
Honestly I didn't know about this short film till I read the Wikipedia! 😲
Actually, this nearly all fits, but then it basically gets ruined by that scene in PotC Curse of the Black Pearl where those two girls didn't even know each other as one of them says "Who was she?"
Maybe that was just a test to see if he'd tell the truth?
Also there was an outtake in which jack is shown to be against slavery. "People ain't cargo, mate"
She said it more in a ironical way. like she spoke Jacks thoughts out load to him
+OceanEmbers well technically he didn't sold em, he traded them
...you know Jack, he was just screwing around lol and wanted to get them out of his burden, besides....who cares, it barely matters...calm down. He may have thought theyd get out of that situation or check on them in a long while which wouldve made him kinda stupid and inconsiderate, not a slave trader lol
How have I never even HEARD of this! Great start to 2021
R.I.P. Master Cotton
RIP mr cotton you will he dearly missed
What?! How have I never seen this??? Absolutely golden.
Is no-one else going to talk about how this is basically a homage to the ride as it has a scene just like this?
This was more entertaining than the entire 5th movie
Gotta give it to Disney for making this happen and the actor playing the actioner is spot on
I knew I wanted to know the backstories of Giselle and Scarlett lol
Why am I watching this after finishing the whole PCOT series
Why, to give you a reason to watch it all again so you can do it properly of course.
RIP David Baillie
I can't belive I'm barely finding out about this
I absolutely LOVE Vanessa Branch. I remember just spilling my whole life story to her (which now that I think about is kind of embarrassing) while she was doing a theater thing for my school. I was the main, and it was so fun to work with her.
Thumbs up if you think Scarlett and Giselle should have their own miniseries.

Joshamee Gibbs went on to settle down in a small hamlet on Long Island, New York called Setauket and changed his name to Richard Woodhull.
Thanks for the upload. The wench auction is based on a scene from the PotC ride. Here's what wikipedia says:
The short was directed by James Ward Byrkit, and was only included as a special feature in the US 15-disc 3D Blu-ray/2D Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Copy box set that includes films 1-4; and in the similar UK five-disc set.
Wenches Scarlett (Lauren Maher) and Giselle (Vanessa Branch) fix each other up for their wedding, in which they would each marry their groom. Upon realizing that both their grooms were the same man-Jack Sparrow-the two wenches find themselves in an auction led by the Auctioneer. The short film serves as a prequel to The Curse of the Black Pearl, explaining just why Jack Sparrow's boat, the Jolly Mon, was seen sinking at the beginning of the whole story, and explaining why wenches Scarlett and Giselle were so upset with him, and it also implies how Cotton lost his tongue. The plot took inspiration from the "Auction scene" from the original Disney park attraction.
Byrkit conceived the idea for the project while on sets Rick Heinrichs designed for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007). As the pirate cove sets from the feature films-where the short film takes place-were set to be demolished, the short project was prepped in a matter of days and shot over three days. Byrkit based the short film on the Pirate Code Book as it was a device that could tie into other stories later.
This has to be the only film Disney has ever made that managed to fit jokes about beastiality, premarital pregnancy, and venereal disease into an eight-minute running time.
Don’t forget sexism and slavery.
And the way Giselle pronounced "egregious" :)
It's entirely possible Cotton did talk about it, and that pirate captain(?) cut out his tongue. I'm pretty sure Cotton even showed his cut-off tongue in Curse of the Black Pearl.
so....Mr. Cotton had his parrott even before he had his tongue cut out

I wish Disney would make a show within the same universe as PoC. They did a decent job with the Mandalorian. They have a lot of source material for a young jack sparrow show with those books too.

*Facepalms at Jack* Oh, Jack...why?
khfan4life365 I get the impression that, during the short course of their interactions with Jack, Scarlett and Giselle were each given (or perhaps left behind, as a sort of payment) small gifts by Jack (perhaps from a recent successful treasure hunt) which included a ring. They each took this to mean that Jack was proposing to them, and excitedly told the auctioneer dude to organize a wedding of sorts between them and Jack. (Maybe a bit of a far-fetched assumption, but given their general lack of intellect, I wouldn't put it past them. Also: notice how both of their rings are the same or very similar, showing his lack of interest in personalizing the gifts - which he would have likely put more effort into if they were meant as a faux proposal. This further supports my theory that he just left a small bag of treasure behind for each as a "thank you," which happened to contain two similar rings, as though found from the same stash of treasure.) Jack, of course, has no idea that any of this auction/wedding was arranged, and thus doesn't know to show up and stop it. This also explains his confusion at Scarlett's slap ("Not sure I deserved that."), because he spent time with her first (before Giselle; she was his "first choice") and left her a generous payment of treasure in gratitude. But he's a bit more hesitant at his standing with Giselle ("...I may have deserved that."), because though he was still generous with her "thank you" gift, she was his _second_ choice, and in the same brothel; word gets 'round quickly in a small town like Tortuga - especially when living under the same roof - and he likely assumed she knew of his prior relations with Scarlett and got jealous. (I feel like Jack's general rule of thumb would be to try and not sleep around with more than one woman in a particular area, to try and minimize the chaos and jealousy that would otherwise ensue between his past lovers.) Anywho, just my two cents, as it were. Savvy? 😉
(Scarlet comes)
Jack - "Scarlet!"
Scarlet - (smack)
Jack - "I don't think I deserved that."
(Giselle comes)
Jack - "Giselle."
Giselle - "Who is she?"
Jack - "What?"
Giselle - (smack)
Jack - "Now that one I might've deserved."
