- It has been a while since I have uploaded anything. Here is a project I was doing about 5-6 months ago that has finally found it's way into the edit studio again.
Riding a 2007 DL650 V-Strom.
Camera - Drift Ghost HD
Its a go anywhere bike now. Looking sweet.
+Bikes & Drones It is just about, all that is really needed is a suspension upgrade but that costs about $2k :-( I think I can do it on the cheap for about $800 but I still need to look into it a bit more.
Bike looks awesome!!
As always a great video AndyPandy. Nicely set up Vstrom. I see you went after the mirror extensions too, great add on. Center of the Sun, that's bright! hahaha
+Adventure2wheels I couldn't pass up those extensions, as soon as I saw them on your bike and figured out what they were I paused it and ordered them right there and then :-) The new spots added to what was already there is just crazy, it is actually brighter than the sun. I see it reflect of road signs during the day lol Can't help but see me know!!!
Andy Pandy Motovlogs
Maybe you already did a video and I've missed it. If so please point me in the right direction.... If not, please do a video of the cornea burning, optic never destroying, brighter than Sun Vstom beamies......
I did do one, but that was before all the upgrades to the lights........ I will have to do another to show the magic of turning night into the center of the sun hahahahaha :-)
Yeah man. Ready. To. Tour. Looks great and capable of burning the kms. Ya sure have a few to do on the up coming trip. Hope ya had a great weekend.
+Toobi-wan Onroadi Thanks mate, not quite ready, but it's on the last legs of getting finished!! only a few more things to install and then time for a super look into everything service!! Can't wait for the ride, just over a month to go now ;-)
Nice job, looks like a lot of nice upgrades!
+Hawk Girl (Misty Varner) There are a few that I just don't know how I did without, but mostly getting it all ready for a big ride. I will be doing around 11,000 kms (nearly 7,000 miles) in April.
+Andy Pandy Motovlogs Wow, well I can't wait to see it!
It will be an epic ride that's for sure!!
Mr. Pandy! Nice walk around and nice modifications that you have done to that gorgeous machine. Man, I cannot wait for your long ride! I am so jealous. And awesome suggestion on the lock lubricant. I use something similar that is a powder. I can't remember the name off the top of my head.
+SoopaBee Me either, as the time gets closer I am getting more and more excited......... but spending more and more on things I will need ;-) Please don't say you are using graphite powder?? That stuff is great for things that stay dry but not so good if it gets wet. It turns into a paste and can gum up the internal workings of the lock.
Actually, it is graphite! It's the kind that is suspended in liquid that evaporates. I haven't had it gum up yet but now you got me worried! Thanks for the heads up man.
if it's already a liquid application you are sweet mate!!! Didn't mean to have to worried, it is pretty easy to clean out if it's all gummed up.
Andy Pandy Motovlogs Whew...thanks man. Yeah, I should've been more clear when I said "powder." When the liquid evaporates, it is like a powdery coating...I thought anyway. Good lord...don't trust me man!
hahahaha
Very nice bike mate. I loved mine, they are so nice to ride!
+JoeJoe Moto They are soo underrated but soo loved by those that own or have owed them :-)
That's cool that they have covered parking there!
I like the tail bag...I like that better than those hard box tail bag thingies. lol! Some nice mods!
Good idea on the lube. All those touches that make the bike running smoothly.
+WheelsNotHeels I think that the soft ones are better as well, although there have been a few times I wish I had a hard box..... I just cant justify the cost and effort in changing them around all the time. The soft ones also bend and crumple if you crash instead of breaking. The lube is great, I wish I could take credit for it but a bike mechanic told me to do it when I first picked up the bike as the ignition was sticking a little, now it's just something I do :-)
That's one good looking Strom! Defintely well set up for your trip soon! :) One thing I did notice is no throttle lock/cruiser control sort of gadget? Racking up all those highway km's to WA would definitely cramp up my hand!!
On a side note... now that you are like 2hrs away from myself we must organise a meetup!! Get the Stroms together!
+MotoHAWKY hahahah would you believe that I put on the Kaoko throttle lock / Cruise control on the bike about 3 days ago :-) A few extras since then as well, got some HWY pegs for it that attach to the bash plate, just ordered a Scottoiler which should be turning up soon and most importantly......... I have a couple of mascots to take with me on the ride ;-)
Most definitely need to catch up, get Mr Aus in the picture and get all the sexy bikes together ;-)
Hi Andy noce video....happy fun to you...
Thanks mate, I am glad you liked it!!
cool vids man
+MrPopicock “motorcycles onboard” Cheer bud, I have been going through a few of yours, the GAB looked intense, bugger about the bike :-( I will get to see how it all pans out though!!
Now that thing is ready for the damn apocalypse!
+shadetree surgeon hahahaha If only I could get a few of the .50 guns and mounts from work and mount them up ;-) Cheers mate, but she ain't done yet....... put a few more on since then and still got a couple more additions to go :-)
i love the vstroms! good video man
+Mr. Dirt-Lovin Cheers mate!! They are a great little machine!!
the air cushion looks interesting indeed, and so does the massive belly pan, of roading you must!!
+sjbali The AirHawk 2 is amazing!!!! It has literally saved my ass :-) lol The bash plate is great, it gives me a bit more confidence in the dirt as I don't have to be super careful around rocks but it does make the ride much louder, the engine noise reflects up and almost straight into the rider, but my new helmet is taking care of that :-)
Andy Pandy Motovlogs
yeah i need a pussy cushion like that!
Awesome bike and loving the advise on using the WD40 ^^V
+Keith Wong Thanks mate, the bike is coming along nicely :-) I wish I could take credit for the advice but a mechanic told me to do it after I picked up the bike and had them go over it :-) It is good advice and it has kept the tumblers nice and smooth.
Hi Andy tnx a lot for your sms,my smartphone sometimes drive me crazy...
Nice mods!
+hillbillydualsport cheers mate, I reckon the CB500X will look just as sweet with a few little extras thrown on :-)
I can recomend gs800 mirrors for your vstrom...mounted a pair on mine an it did å major difference...givi airflow nex😊
+Tommy Strømland that is a really interesting idea mate, I will have to look into them........ I really love the big mirrors though, I hate having to really focus and concentrate to see what is behind me and with the stock V-Strom mirrors because they are so big it really is easy to see what is there.
Great video mate! How you you like the fog lights? USB ports are very cool!
bautiful bike...nice mods...dose that screen do a good job? think i want to put on a power commander to smooth out the old ecu feel...not for the power.. and stiffer fork springs....i love my 04 dl 650 and will never return to sports bike...
+Tommy Strømland Thanks mate, and yep, that screen is amazing. I am touring the country at the moment and it is a huge help with reducing fatigue.
+Andy Pandy Motovlogs looks like a good screen...gona change to gs800 mirrors to take away some turbulens...ita better when i took off the suzuki pancake mirrors...gs mirror are more streamlined
+Andy Pandy Motovlogs
by the way hope you have a fantastic trip...
Speaking of springs, I thought they were doing a bloody marvelous job on the trip, but stiffer ones front and rear would be a lot better, especially if you are carrying a load. Half way through and looking forward to the ride back :-)
+Andy Pandy Motovlogs hope you have a grate ride....they do a good job..but a little soft..and they dive mutch under braking i think☺
Looks like its set up well. Where to next?
+azdesertdog Next big trip is across Australian and back in April, around 7,000 miles it works out to be in your distance ;-) That will be a blast and something I am really looking forward to doing!!!
How to get a andy pandy sticker to norway mate?
Hi Andy, did you have to change your flasher unit since you put led indicators on?
There some great mods on your Strom. Why did you decide to go for soft luggage instead of hard cases.
some say hard panniers safe the bike when you have an of, others that it's got a chance to damage the frame.
what's your take on this?
I did have to replace the flasher unit.... well to be honest I don't know if you NEED to change it, I just thought ahead and ordered one and changed it without testing it. The unit says that it is capable of LED lights but I had it so changed it. To keep the same flasher unit you can install in-line resisters to the indicator circuit to stop the hyper flash if it is present (I have done that a few times on friends bikes - works well)
I find that going off road I take soft panniers, that way if I do have an off they tend to bend and move and will most likely not break off unlike a hard case, but for HWY use I run with the Hard panniers - yes I have both and swap out the frames for the activity I am doing..... it isn't that hard to do once you have done it a couple of times, only takes about 10 minutes :-) Thanks for the comments mate..... oh there have been a few additions since this was filmed lol can never stop with the mods hahahahah
thanks for the reply mate, i love my wee strom, after riding a drz. for 5 years "which i've still got"
but my ole bones need a bit of comfort :-) keep it shiny side up mate and thanks again.
ps. don't fancy loud pipes then?
I was going to get a full staintune set but will be selling it next year so decided to skip it. Enjoy the the little beast mate, they are bloody awesome!!
That MrAus sticker though.... Best farkle of the lot! :-p
Plus the helmet hook!
Have you noticed much of a difference with the fork brace?
My key is hard to turn at times. I should do this.
+MrAusAdventure The helmet hook is undisputedly the most used addition to the bike!!!! The Mr Aus sticker...... well of course its the best thing on the bike ;-) lol
The fork brace actually improved the front end wobble a lot more than I expected, I didn't realise just how much play was in the front end until I fitted it. It takes a lot of the waobble away from when large trucks pass you, or doing tight turns or in the dirt when stuck in the wheel rutts of others, it really does help quite a bit!! Best tip I ever got of a mechanic was to use spray on the ignition ;-) I don't have any issues but when I got it it was a bit sticky.
+Andy Pandy Motovlogs The fork brace ha been on my list of things to get since I first bought the bike. But I never seem to remember about it until I have no money to buy one! It's on the list with the Givi screen!
+MrAusAdventure oh the screen is amazing! Will be of great use on the longer tours you do.
+MrAusAdventure oh the screen is amazing! Will be of great use on the longer tours you do.
Vstroms are fuckin mad! I don't know why but after I rode Scooterhoons Vstrom I really should consider the LAMS version haha!
+Titan From Hell Yes, you really really should consider them as a bike choice, you have ridden one and there are soo many things that can be done to them, madness not to consider one of these, especially where you live, would be the best play ground for a Strom there!!!
+Titan From Hell Do it!
Pretty tempting but ive made my mind up. ;)
yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with the MT-07!! It is a good bloody bike!!
Oh yeah its a very very strong consideration.
Great walk around and some good advice there mate. I like the liberal use of the word "thing" which covers a multitude of sins and, of course, anyone with a titter of wit would know what you mean by each "thing" - I certainly did :)
Your mods have been very well thought out - really love the usb's on the side "thing" - those side "things" always seem like a waste of space to me and it's great to see that space utilised for very helpful other things!
You do have a centre-stand don't you? I'm pissed off that the rally raid bash plate for the X doesn't fit if centre-stand is installed :(
But then I've found a better alternative... for one day ;)
RSMF.
+CaptainCranky Thanks mate, I knew someone would understand me :-) Yeah, I have a center stand, that was one of the reasons went with SW Motech gear, I knew it would all fit together...... well hoped, beyond hoping :-)
So it's an Australian Hobby Lobby? That is the greatest V-Strom. Truly the greatest. Dirts? Is that what you say in Aus? In America the plural of dirt is dirt. Like math is still math.
+Adventures in Real Life you are correct in saying that the plural of dirt is dirt........ but that is just for normal everyday run of the mill dirt, here we have all kinds of dirt, so many varieties all in the one place and therefore would be rude to classify them all under the same banner......... so, we have dirts :-) Could also just be my stupid way of speaking hahahahaha, I tend to put an "S" on the end of words for no particular reason, I blame starfire from teen titans!!!! Thank you, I really think it is the best v-strom I have ever owned as well!!!!
Do you send a andypandy sticker to Norway???
I think I still have a few somewhere but it will be months before I am home again :-( I will try to remember but I honestly don't know if my brain is that good lol. If you can remember send me another message in September and I will get a couple out to you :-)
Andy Pandy hehe...yeah l will do that sir...out on long travel?
Nah mate, away from home for work, I wish I was having an adventure somewhere though :-)
Andy Pandy it would been more fun l belive:)) but the adventure need some money...:)))
Excuse me....noce video_sorry forma my grammatic
No problem at all, |I understand what you mean, Thanks for watching, :-)
