I love how you guys noticed how good the fight choreography is in this show. Say what you want about Legend of Korra as a whole, but it has incredible fight scenes.
It's better than recent star wars that's for sure
@@Moonstriker2514 Funny enough, both Korra and the Star Wars sequels suffered the problem; they weren't planned out. Neither had a continuous, coherent, story line that carried throughout the series/trilogy. You can't really blame the creators of Korra though, because Nickelodeon only approved of one season at a time. Star Wars however. . .
@@NRF787 Yeah, I think the one season thing definitely made Korra suffer in the long run. I'm guessing that's the reason that she had three elements in the first ep and by the end had mastered all the elements.
@@kj_freecss Yeah, its also why she got her bending back from Aang at the end of season 1, even though she had just lost them. It would have been better story and characters wise to have it carry into season two for a little while.
I agree Legend of Korra has great fight scenes BUT the first 2 season really felt more like kickboxing for every fight with a few exceptions. Once they got to this 3rd season I think they did absolutely amazing with all the fight scenes. Blending the martial arts and bending perfectly but before it felt very pure kickboxing with a side of bending. Yah know what I mean?
Zaheer is the coolest villain in the show

Avatar Kyoshi is actually the one that created the Dai Li. She had nothing but good intentions, but it goes to show how the Avatar can impact the world negatively.
That's new!!
Is this fact from the Kyoshi novels?
@@shyamal2910 It is in the Novels. In matter of fact, Ba Sing Se was much worse around Kyoshiâs time than Korraâs so Kyoshi created The Dai Li
@@perfectlynormal5171 The worst part is that they actually WORKED but were immediately corrupted after Kyoshi passed away
Somehow things always end up in ashes when one person/a few people get to have more power than others... it always seems to lead to things getting unbalanced.
Which is why I personally think creating the avatar (in that universe, not the show itself) was a huuuge mistake.
Wan fused with Raava to fight back Vaatu to keep balance but after that was done he kept interfering with human affairs and I think that lead to more things getting unbalanced due to him having more power than any other human and basically forcing his way on them.
I am actually surprised the writers didn't make a corrupt Avatar to show what happens when an Avatar is selfish and just does what he/she wants.
The Dai Li is pretty much just NSA. If its run by someone corrupt then they're going to do fucked up shit. Thats how any organisation works.
When you realize the Di Lei are relics of the past, because they never learned metal bending.
They are still living in the stone age.
man's called the dai li the 'frito lay'
Exactly their bending atyle is outdated back to Kyoshi era.
Exactly, they were so easy to deal with this time. Back in the day they were 10x more effective
Ba Sing Se as a whole is a relic. Book 3 is called "Change" yet the city was still exactly the same when Aang came.
@@torch712 no itâs not. The poor is much more poor and the rich are much are more rich. The classism is worse and itâs all thanks for the earth queens ruling. Lupasan: I like him. I don't care what he does now.

If you look at the scenes where the Di Li are training the air benders, their not even training them right, their having them sand firmly and strike hard like you would train an earth bender, as opposed to actual air bending which is all about moving a lot and staying light on your feet.
and theyre opposite elements too, so the 'training' would've done next to nothing for them
*Perfectly aligns* as they would not know how to train them considering there weren't airbenders around before then, besides Tenzin's family on Air Temple Island (so mostly a lost bending form before to the world at large). lol
So theyâre basically helping them fight earth benders lol
what do you expect? The Dai Li only know Earth bending
The one looked like waterbending taking the air blast and sending it back
Iâm just imagining Sokka clapping one of the Elite 4 with a boomerang
He would have been 74 fighting them. Same with Zuko. Imagine how broken you gotta be as a 74 year old non-bender to have fought those guys. Sokka must have god-tier
Every time they release a LOK video itâs 2am in the UK and I can never go back to bed.

the white lotus isnât a secret society anymore maybe thatâs why their soldier are bad lol
True when they were secret they had some of the greatest fighters in the world
@Trashthlete, they didnât make the white lotus trash though, in atla we only ever saw the grand lotuses fight, but in lok we only see the grunts fight, you shouldnât be comparing the strength of someone high ranking to someone low ranking when it comes to bending
they are body guards like the American Secret Service, not soldiers
I mean not everyone in the original was Bumi and iroh. They were at the very top of the hierarchy. Even in ATLA you see smaller members of the white lotus, that one flower merchant at the spirit oasis in the desert.
Tanner Harding Good point, I do remember them talk about how Iroh was a high ranking member
Ming Hua spiraling into the abyss brings me chills everytime.
4:50 this is why I liked the villains a bit: they had personality. They werenât just all ârahhhhh kill the avatarâ, they had moments all to themselves
Seeing what the Earth Queen try do to the new airbenders made me wonder if there were any Earth Kings/Queens that tried to do that to like the swampbenders, and to a lesser extent the sandbenders (like, the sandbenders are cool and all, but it's a very specific type of bending that'd only work best in the desert and maybe on large beaches; it's very niche). Like, they're waterbenders who are technically Earth Kingdom citizens, the swamp is part of the Earth Kingdom; just like the airbenders here. I'd imagine they tried multiple times but kept getting lost in the swamp or getting folded by waterbending and plantbending as well as the local wildlife. Sandbenders, I'd imagine they'd keep getting lost in the desert and get folded by sandbenders as well as getting their shit stolen.
When Lin says they will mess her up she means it they will traumatize that child
Not will DO!! They finished the series
And weâve all seen S4 đł

@@gokukakarot3404 I can see why though. If you don't know how it's written and guess then the "i" is spoken like "ai". And since the end is spoken like an "e" in english I understand why they'd go that route.

That hits nicely today. :-)
What's crazy is that 13 years ago, Sokka, Tonraq, Tenzin, and Zuko were able to take down and imprison Zaheer's squad (granted, Zaheer didn't airbend). At this point in the story Sokka and Zuko were STILL NASTY fighting at the age of 70.

@Scorpio Bradley I agree. Zaheer never fought Korra on equal ground at all. He had to drug her, chain her, and poison her to get any sort of advantage, Plus all of Korraâs skills in this season and season 4 are her own, no past lives. So judging by how she still almost killed Zaheer while poisoned, imagine what she couldâve done to him in a one on one at 100%.

True masters in the Avatar world incorporate bending forms from other nations into their styles. Even Katara in AtLA had some moments where she would use techniques more akin to earthbending. Kinda makes sense when you want to move solid slabs of ice.

Why we got a earth king and queen that either canât or donât bend
Edit: I just wanted to see an earth king/queen who could bend ik thereâs probably one in the comics or lore
Because, a normal person ruling among "super" powerful people show how you should respect the story of the ruler lineage. Or for a sort of balance.
Maybe a master metal bender would make a better ruler?
royal lineages are a bloodline thing, if the next royalty in line isnt a bender then that person is still going to be the ruler regardless. there's a canon character who was a king and an earthbender named hundun, so maybe not all have been non benders.
@@PaintedHoundie i mean its a genetic thing just as Aang a Airbender and Katara a waterbender had a non bending water bending and air bending child. And we see how even the twins in ATLA one was a bender and one was not. So its completely random how bending is passed down so I doubt all rulers were non benders. Just happened that this one and Prince Wu are.
Also, being a ruler isn't necessarily about the person's physical powers. Generally, those in political power are weaker than those who protect them. The ruling position is supposed to be about their ability to rule wisely which takes a certain kind of mind. Not to say that the current royalty is very good at it, but it'd make no sense to replace them just because someone else can fight better or has elemental power. Like I wouldn't replace Sokka as a leader merely because someone else can fight better than he can. Non-benders of a nation are just as valid representatives of their nation as the benders. And if they're not, well we just circle back to the point Amon was making.
also, her bashfulness is the result of Aang's personality. The next avatar has the previous avatar's wish to become. Ex: Aang wished he was more headstrong and doesn't falter. Which why is Korra is more aggressive and doesn't know how to be passive.
I doubt that, Avatar Roku wanted to be decisive but sang was anything but.
Source: just trust me bro
@@sebay444 it may be a theory, but itâs pretty much a solid theory and it has facts to back it up. And it hasnât been denounced by the creators either. Even for a theory it could be taken as canon, but if you donât wanna believe it, thatâs fine.
@@Cherry_min This also kinda happened with kyoshi
shes was super SUPER serious about her role as Avatar and sought to protect the ones she cared about at all cost, probably due in part to her past life; Avatar Kuruk; who was a laid back slacker kind of guy(literally a beach bum surfer dude) that lost the person he loved most to Koh the face stealer then lost all inspiration in life and died at a young age as compared to most other Avatars.
Love how the dai li were trying to train the airbenders in an earth bending fighting style. No wonder they were brutal
The last time zuko was in the arctic....he got folded by katara so i cant blame him lol
1:18 not only that, but you gotta keep in mind, that Korra is a very sheltered avatar compared to the previous.... she got most of her training done at the water tribe.... so she doesn't really know much about the world... while the others got to travel the world...
And there's a certain reason she's so sheltered
What a bad excuse. I'm going say anymore than that. But what a bad excuse
*I wish the show did more to emphasize how that could have impacted her decision making in season 2* - Like Korra reflecting on that more personally as a character (that would have helped people see more of her changes in the middle parts of the series and for more people to make that connection).
@@raec5426 Same!
@@kitsune2146 how is that a bad excuse?? Compare previous avatars to the way Korra was brought up and raised....

It's really refreshing having so many of the shady characters come from groups outside of the Fire Nation in LOK. We spent so much time seeing the Fire Nation as the bad guys in ATLA, so it's cool that they balanced it out by showing the fire nation in a good light for so much of LOK and showing darker sides of the other elements and their nations. Who could have imagined when ATLA started we'd get an air bender villain later on?
Astral projection is an advanced Airbender move as well as other things. Like lightning and smoke for fire and magma and metal for earth.
Yeah but Magma and Metal are not things you can learn but lightning and smoke are... When you guys mentioned "Tenzin thought he had to rebuild the air nation on his own" I realised something I never considered before: Bending can skip a generation (shown by neither of Katara's parents being water benders) so it would have been possible that Bumi or Kya's children might have been air benders. You know what is so interesting about Aang and Korra? Even though they are so powerful, they still needed help and support to defeat the villains compared to their past lives. This episode was one of four to be leaked by the Mexican Nickelodeon website, MundoNick, on June 8, 2014.
A scene in which Asami and Lin sneak into a Ba Sing Se airship and a flashback scene depicting the Red Lotus' first kidnapping attempt of Korra were cut from the final storyboard.
The scene in which Ming-Hua opens P'Li's cell door was inspired by an episode of MacGyver, in which the titular character is trapped inside a meat locker and escapes by trickling melted ice water into the door lock as means of breaking it once the water refroze.

Oh please, if it was Aang there - the moment he heared what the queen was actually doing he would storm in avatar state to the castle and dethrone her
No he wouldnt, Anng was actually very respectful of major political lines, and wouldnt cross them unless in the case of something like 100 year war.
Thats one of the biggest differences between Anng and Korra, Anng was Passive and Korra is active.
â@@darryljack6612 umm, no. He definitely would. Korra is negative and never learns that's the difference between them
@@fanto860 No he wouldn't, we even see multiple examples of this similar circumstance in the comics, with not only the past earth king but with zuko as well, it was how Republic City was formed.
This what i mean by Anng is Passive and Korra is Active, Anng would want to stop the earth quuen but he wouldn't use force as his first option to do so.
He would do it in a round about way, appealing to one's better nature. And if he did have to be underhanded it wouldn't be direct but passive like i said.
A great example of this is what he did in the city of Oma-Shu, by tricking the higher ups to safely release the citizens.
While Korra as we seen in this same episode would do it in a direct way. Despite political barrier, she and her team still busted in and took back the airbenders with force. Like i said in a Active manner.
The terms active or passive isnt a condemnation or a praise to either avatar, its just their personality traits and who they are as people. For better or worse, one is proactive, the other is proreactive, its engrained in their characters even down to their fighting styles.
@@darryljack6612 He most definitely would, he would not be polite if new airbenders were put underground to be trained to soldiers against their will

If that's not motivation, I don't know what is
They are pro benders
Stop underrating Bolin
14:13-Loyal?!The Dai le?!
These are the same soldiers who betrayed the Earth King for an asshole just to betray that asshole later for the Fire Nation!
âOptic Blastâ had me in tears
KORRA: I'm not afraid of any Villain
ALSO KORRA: Having PTSD at every Main Villain she encounters
how could she know sheâd have PTSD though?
@@Elif-sk9jf idk maybe learn from the mistakes she's made for 2.5 seasons already? Korra has zero character growth until S4 lol she's just a cocky arrogant loudmouth
@@uclachemistry season 1 had character development. Season 2 they back tracked on her so I can see your point there , season 3 started to get her character development back slowly and season was there
@@tranquilk5912 it's his opinion..he has a right to feel how he feels about how the avatar
@Scorpio Bradley not everyone is going to like korra and I'm tired of people coming on these youtubers reaction channel telling them and the people in the comments what not to say or how they should speak on the show and give there opinion if he feels that way let him feel that way

How could I be so slow?!
I like that the sub-elements of airbending are spiritual compared to the other elements
"How you get tripped and punched at the same time" lmaooo
Female prodigies in both ATLA and TLOK
Jinora for Air
Azula for Fire
Toph for Earth
Katara for Water
But Dai Li is Kyoshi's legacy lol.
Zaheer's squad are all dark reflections of the Gaang in one way or another. Zaheer himself is spiritual like Aang. P'Li (combustion girl) is obsessively protective and loyal to Zaheer, just like Katara. Ming-Hua (armless waterbender) is just like Toph in that her handicap has given her a unique style compared to other waterbenders and she's more laid back. Ghazan (earthbender) kind of splits the difference on Sokka and Zuko, having that same sense of humor as both of them and fighting no matter the odds, ala Sokka's water tribe patriotism and Zuko's Avatar chase.
I have an idea for a fanfic that explains how this group of villains got their start, up to and including how they eventually got taken down by Sokka et al before the start of Korra (as well as how it relates to Aang's ultimate demise), but it relies on a lot of stuff that hasn't happened yet to explain. Nevertheless, I really think that Sokka was the one who took down the combustion bender - he was the one who ultimately defeated Sparky-Sparky-Boom-Boom, after all, and it makes it even more appropriate that she ended up imprisoned by one of the Water Tribes.
Does it involve Zaheer killing Aang himself?
