he would have won too, he was folding Zaheer the entire time, and I think without P'Li's hax from the airship, he would have beaten Zaheer, Ghazan and Ming-Hua at once, though it would have been challenging. Zaheer literally couldn't land a single hit on him, until the cheap shots

We spend so much time seeing Tenzin be the teacher, the father, the politician, the philosopher, etc that's easy to forget he can also be Tenzin the bad ass
I feel like if Tenzin would've died in the fight with the red lotus it would've made the series better. Similar to how Aang lost Monk Gyatso, Korra could lose Tenzin. Just feel like it would add alot more depth and like weight.
moises lopez That was different thought, mink gyatso didnât matter in terms of plot. Characters like him I added in just to be killed off later to add meaning. Tenzin actually plays a role in this show though

Tenzin, unlike Aang, Korra or Zaheer was not a fighter. He spent most of his life studying the Air Culture and doing politics. And yet he is so good because he really is devout to the air traditions.

Zaheer's tactics can't be beat. Lured Tenzin away from the others (who could be swiftly beaten by his own team) and up high where he could receive fire support. He's a good airbender, but his strategic use of his team is what really makes him shine as an antagonist. I don't think he ever intended to take Tenzin 1v1, which was wise given how that fight was going.
Exactly, Zaheer is very good at studying his opponents, which is why he clapped everyone prior to his fight with Tenzin. In fact, this was the only episode where Zaheer used Airbending correctly as a defensive element.
Zaheer WAS still locked up in a difficult place like all the others, even before being able to airbend.
He was probably a strategist considering he couldn't do much in terms of fighting benders. His use of his team is what made him so dangerous, he strategically went for the lava guy first, who was just in the middle of the ocean and had very few guards, then water-arms girl, who had more of a security but her placing wasn't very favorable to anyone, with the exception of lava-guy, and finally went after P'li, who was in one of the harshest places in the world AND was just a few hours away from the capital of the northern water tribe, and tbh, the only one who had any sort of ability to fight there was water girl and it took Zuko's dragon to even habilitate P'li's ability to fire-bend.
If anything, that was Zaheer's power.

You can really see the difference in mastery between Tenzin and Zaheer. In the smallest details you can see why Tenzin is a master
I think Zaheer got nervous that's why he lost. Remember Zaheer clapped Tonraq, Kya, and multiple white lotus guards because they were different benders. The minute Tenzin came at him he realized that not only does Tenzin have the same element as him, but he's decades ahead inexperience. I don't know why Zaheer wasn't using those large air sweeps he did when facing Kya, but then again Tenzin would've prolly re-directed it back at him.
I think it's harder for non airbenders to fight airbenders anyway, just look at aang playing with everyone even as a kid. And most of these people have probably never seen an airbender fight ever but probs have been in many fights with the other elements
@@controlman7490 Zaheer had his game on, its just Tenzin is so much better because he had trained since little and is one if the best masters. Other benders have issues against air benders cause they've never fought one, same reason why so many people lost to aang. But there was no way tenzin wouldnlose to Zaheer just by the clear difference in ability.
@@controlman7490 Zaheer knows how to fight other benders even without bending. That's why he does it so effortlessly against others. Tenzin was the first time he's ever fought an airbender and it happened to be the strongest one alive.

Someone like Opal or Ryu are not capable of beating Kya, or even 1 white lotus guard even though their airbenders. Zaheer was definitely scared bro he usually never runs away from fights, and when he was fighting Tenzin all of a sudden his airbending moves got really sloppy.
Fun fact: Ming-hua originally supposed to have arms with blood bending abilities but the creators decided against featuring another blood bender villian after Amon and Tarlock!! đ

Okay Korra went to the spirit world because that was the only thing she could do while waiting for a line to go through to the air temple. She more than likely wasn't actually expecting Zaheer to show up, but like what other lead did she have, ya know?
This is the first time Meelo is seen flying on a glider by himself.
This is the first time in either series where two airbenders are shown fighting each other.
One of the airbending moves that Tenzin uses during his fight with Zaheer is similar to the one Aang performs in the opening sequence of The Legend of Korra.

Ok, I know Tenzin is amazing but let's talk about Kya and Bubi who could hold their own for a while at over 50 with what are supposed to be two of the most dangerous benders (and they didn't just get their bending recently ). Bumi having just learned how to airbed and Kya who is more of a healer than a fighter.
And I just wanted to add that the scene where Bumi was holding Kya and she told him to let go was heartbreaking. The absolute trust was portrayed beautifully.
Fr everyone be talking about tenzin(nothing bad with that) but not that much people talk about kya and bumi which was impressive they got to hold their own by powerful benders
You know what I just noticed the way king bumi threw chicken at aang and he stopped it at the dinner table mirrors how meelo throws a plate and bumi aangs catches it the same way at a dinner table
This season was genius. In particular, the episodes after Zaheer kills the Earth Queen *on screen* are so tense because we know what the Red Lotus are capable of, and we know the show isn't afraid to kill off characters. I was legitmately afraid for Tenzin, Kai, Kya, and Bumi. If we ever get another series of Avatar, I hope it's at this caliber of writing.

As for Yakone, not that many people, especially with an already existing and known bloodbender at the time (Katara), know that he could do it on his free will instead of needing a requirement to make it happen.

When ya'll finish this series can ya have a discussion about how Aang would've fared against these enemies? I feel like Korra gets mad hate, but look at who she's going against every season!! They deadass be world-class assassins.
He would have died in a matter of seconds, at least Korra has more of an aggressive nature, she would strike some blows too. Remember Aang was being tortured by Yakon, and took him a few minutes to snap from the bloodbending. But at the end I think Korra wouldn't be able to survive by her own too. I don't agree with the hate that the fans throw at her. Yes she makes some mistakes in season 2 and her attitude is questionable, but that learning was necessary for her to become a better Avatar. Also Aang made some mistakes too in his time, so why are the fans not counting those?. So to me hating on Korra is kind of ridiculous.
Tbh i think Aang would get bodied, only way heâs winning is with the avatar state, donât forget heâs 12 years old, and these guys have more experience in fighting. If weâre talking about Adult Aang then thats a more fair fight and i think he beats em

Aang was badass don't get me wrong but in conclusion, the one thing I can say is the Firelord definitely doesn't have shit on any of the villains in Korra. they more organized and shadowy than a flashy target like the Firelord Ozai. Even Yakon couldn't take on the red lotus.
@@kamaurussell1322 Without the Avatar state he would have died in a matter of seconds, these are trained assassins, so a 12/13 Aang would have had a lot of trouble with them. Remember Korra was bodied by them, and had to be helped by her team and a bunch of air benders. So...I don't think he would have lasted long against highly trained and experienced assassins.

remember that blood bending can only be used during a full moon normally, and that includes Katara and Kya, so even IF Katara taught Kya how to blood bend she couldn't have used it in that fight. The only exception to the full moon usage limitation we've seen so far is Yakone and his sons.

The fight between Tenzin and Zaheer made it clear who really is the master tho. Zaheer always stumble tho he knew many things about airbending because he is supposed to be Korra's airbending teacher if they successfully kidnapped her when she was a child. Tenzin's airbending is soooo beautiful. I mean it is so satisfying he really is like a leaf in the wind. Always moving.
The reason they didn't win is because the Red Lotus was fine with killing. I think Tenzin knew he couldn't win against enemies that have no qualms against killing people, he wasn't trying to beat them, he was trying to stall for time.
That's an important point. If this is Tenzin holding back, I pity the person who crosses him the wrong way.
