- I spent almost a year of my life renovating this 1980's kitchen into our dream kitchen with the help of the Home Depot. The old kitchen was dark, outdated, and had an inefficient layout. This kitchen remodel/renovation makes the new space bright, clean, and simple modern.

Weeping over the older kitchen. Am I the only one who likes it better?
No, everyone liked it better. And we don't like the new, either.
I would be leaping for joy if the ‘before’ was my kitchen!! The after is soulless, bland and impractical (open shelving???)
Me too. Those beautiful cabinet doors with Gothic arch style glass doors. And the crown molding! 😢. I would replaced the counter tops and appliances and maybe painted the cabinets - but really the wood wasn’t that dark. Open shelves - no thanks
The all white is so sterile and cold
literally!!! I don't understand why people why people buy properties that have amazing work like that, just to tear it all down :/ there are so many people who appreciate the craftsmanship!
i like the before version😁
So you got rid of real granite thats durable and strong for some cheap countertop, got rid of to ceiling cabinetry with nice designs for open white shelves that will be places for dirt and clutter. I mean I agree the original could of used some work but you can make it more light and modern without cheap and/or impractical swaps. There are elements I reallly like tho like the curved arch, overall it looks pretty good
Beautiful! I'm all for those bright windows in that kitchen. You sure do like your black. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
Floating/ uncovered shelves are major dust and dirt collectors. Great kitchen though.
Hmm… the layout of this kitchen is awkward. The distance between the sink, stove and fridge is way too far from each other…
my favorite part was the 2 big doors that you open them and see a big organized storage i love it
I would have refaced the cabinets and changed the counter top to quartz. That is the limitations of my skill level. Hehe
About the details... a professor in a cabinetmaking class I took said once, "the first 90% of your project takes 90% of your time, and the last 10% of your project takes the other 90% of your time." Truer words were never spoken. Enjoyed the build, cheers!
The original gothic style cabinets were incredible- would have been great painted white.
I was imagining them in black! wouldnt help to lighten up but would look awesome
you forgot to say home depot
I mean shit.. remodels ain’t free
Where did the countertops come from?
😂😂😂
Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do! 😂 I ain't mad at it..
Perhaps he wants to be sponsored by home depot 😂😂😂
Looks great, but why not replace that flooring?!
I like the original kitchen. I mean, the new kitchen is nice, though.
That doesn't
not look like 1982. More like 2000.
Right! His new kitchen is so 2002. It feels old. Dated. Soon 1982 will be back in fashion, and he'll redo it again.
The vent hood that actually vents is so underrated
Took a drink every time he said home depot now I'm dead.
Kitchen remodel looks awesome, however, doing all that work and leaving that hideous floor is a disappointment imo
That was 2000s kitchen. That kitchen was still quite beautiful, would have kept the old one
I agree. The new kitchen looks dated, too, like 2017
Gothic style cabinets you can't find and switch them for mass produced big box stuff?
Home Depot should have sponsored you.
I can’t wait to visit Home Depot after watching this video.
Congratulations on the birth of your new baby!🎉❤
Trash compactor? I thought we were taking the 1980’s out?!
Fabulous. What a handy husband you are! Congrats on the baby news! 🤗🤗🤗
Love the new kitchen! I love cooking with gas, too. For those that cook, gas is the best.
Congrats on your new little girl 🩷
Not trying to be rude but I liked the original kitchen so much better. The original cabinets were very expensive & probably would have looked fine if just painted white. Had those open cabinets, huge dust collectors. If you think of the amount of dust that lands on your furniture along with the frequency of dusting the same goes on your dishes with the grease mixed in. We changed ours out after about 2 yrs.
People are so shortsighted. They hated their old "dated" kitchen, so at great expense, they replace it with a new one featuring current trends (like open shelving) that quickly becomes "dated" just like the old one.
I am glad you mentioned this. I thought the first kitchen was nice too. Seemed like a big waste of money and materials to remodel it.
@@Dusty42096People have personal preferences after all, doesn't matter if u think the cost is bad or whatever, it is a preference to change it. In order to avoid the dust u gotta stay cleaning
@@idontthinkso666good thing it’s his house and not yours then
How about the fridge? They trashed that $15k sub zero for some basic looking home depot fridge 🤦🏼♂️
Awesome build!! Gotta love all Home Depot has available. We actually went with a black (Lerhyttan) IKEA kitchen, the same butcher block is on all of my cabinet surfaces and we have a huge one on the island. White subway tile with black grout (hubby wanted white but it's the kitchen, even with sealer the white would have stained way too easily plus the black grout really makes the tile pop and gives it lovely definition). Currently working on my living room and hallway, Pergo Defense+ in Hoboken Oak going down later today. Again, amazing job and congratulations on the little one!!
The shelving was a great idea to keep the space feeling larger. Bravo!
Great video.
Those countertop guys knew their job, very interesting.
Love the round windows and the metro tiles as we call them over here.
The result is FABULOUS .
So task for your honey is to prepare a Michelin Star diner every evening
Great job and good luck with the new (to be) born !
Thanks for sharing !!
The refrigerator was amazing 🤩
Like the gold hardware on the white. I love that oven. 😊
As far as you like it, i guess that is all that matters, In my opinion the kitchen you destroyed was better looking and high quality, no comparation with what you have done, but again, it is your kitchen, enjoy it
Beautiful kitchen!!!!
The title of the video says it took 10 months to remodel, yet the thumbnail shows it as 41 years. 😁
Looks amazing great job
Looks amazing
The 1982 version looks so much better
Johnny the kitchen makeover turned out pretty awesome but to be honest my favourite bit is the large round window as we don't see many of those here in the UK, certainly not that big that is.
Remodeling the kitchen isn’t a bad idea but the new kitchen should look better then the old.
Beautiful ❤
Great video, but after watching it, the "we got it at _____ ____" is ingrained in my head as much as "this one time at ____ _____" LOL I love the brightness of the kitchen. I look forward to remodeling my kitchen.
Looks great! 🎉
Great job!
Incredible build. Excellent work. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent job! Congratulations to Katie on the new arrival. Is it too soon to suggest a little brother? Yeah, I thought so, too. Maybe next month...
Good work!
Nice remodel.
Good job
Hey, what you did with that kitchen was really cool, but I heard you say that part if the idea behind it was to have a more open space, and just as a suggestion, a bubble skylight in the oven area would probably help with that. Of course, it looks great as is; it was an amazing transfornation. Congratulations to your wife.
Your kitchen can stay in my house for another 10-15 year. It stilll look damn good
What did you do with the old appliances? They looked perfectly functional.
love it
It was a fascinating journey of dedication and transformation. The meticulous attention to detail and the thoroughness of this project, documented over 10 months, was impressive. It's a must-watch for anyone considering a major kitchen renovation, as it provides valuable insights into the process and the rewarding end result.
Absolutely beautiful!
I want to do something similar, but I will have a faucet added to the stove backsplash. I get so tired of running to the sink for water when I am cooking. I will also never have lower cabinets. I will have full pull out drawers. Getting on the ground to search the back of the cabinets is a pain.
Now that is a truly amazing transformation,👌
Looks great! If I had a tiny critique, it would be not having a small sink near the coffee bar.
Simply gorgeous!
Love The Kitchen Looks Great 👍
What a change! Fantastic job👏👏👏👏
It's beautiful, though I do question having so much food in the pantry right down at floor level- seems like a good way to attract pests and/or bugger up your back and have to rummage around looking for things you can't see without getting down at floor level.
Lol my whole extended family successfully renovated our whole 4 floor house in 6 months
Great design, whats the link for the pendent lights?
Quick question. Where did you say you got your material from? J/K love the new kitchen.
Hermosa!!!!!😍
Had drywall opened up but didnt update the electrical. Classic
Johnny the kitchen looks great although what a dont understand is get home depit aoinsored the build but rhe butcher block counter top prebuilt?? Would of thought you'd of done them yourself 🤔🏴👍
May I ask what the total cost of the remodel was? We are looking to do our 1970's era kitchen in a ranch home purchased four years ago. It has knotty pine custom cabinets, which we plan to replace. Thanks!
As an ex Dep Sheriff, I fully expect you to get ALL the tattoos you never could get now that you are self employed.
Haha you get it!
What a beautiful kitchen ❤
Beautiful kitchen, well done.
One month of construction. And 9 months of picking out the wood at home Depot to find straight stock !!!!!
Basically, taking out a $50k kitchen and replacing half of it with discounted IKEA.
You should have painted it all first to show another method of updating. Two solutions for one kitchen would have been neat.
If I'm wanting to get into this occupation then what kind of trade shall I pursue? Are you a Carpenter or is this skill more technical than that term? Thanks ahead
Drying rack? Why not a cabinet?
Unlike a lot of folks in the comments, I like the modern kitchen way more. The clean minimalist style is refreshing. Great work!
How much did the entire remodel cost please?
Beautiful, Jonny! You guys killed it! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yo.. what store is this all from???
That mustache is giving major 80s baseball pitcher vibes lol
SUP CLINT!
What's a "dinette" area?
👍👍👍
Textured ceilings and subway tiles will never make sense to me
👍
Great looking kitchen. The flow in the room would be better without the small island. It looks out of place.
BEFORE AND AFTER UPGRADES REMOTEL
What is Home Depot?
Open shelves in the kitchen--yuck. We had that once, and anything that didn't get used regularly got coated in grease and dust.
I did like the original kitchen cabinets. I can see rearranging the cooktop and ovens, and building a breakfast bar, but I would have kept those wonderful cabinets.
I enjoy your channel and the projects you do but I have one comment or suggestion, the video is unsteady and jerks around like the camera is being handheld. For me it makes some of your videos almost unwatchable. Other than that great job!
"The Home Depot" voice gets higher at the depot part.
Only reason he remodeled the kitchen was so he could do another new dining table build
You seemed to swap all the stuff that was dated for the stuff that’s trendy today. You’ll have another dated kitchen on your hands in about 5 years. Maybe next time you’ll aim for ‘timeless’
How tall is this guy?
The floor is the worst part, and it's still there.
Hi Jonny, the kitchen looks insane. So much better than the old one.
That's where we have to agree to disagree. I wouldn't want a white kitchen. White is so cold, so uninviting.
@@mrxmry3264😂 I agree took out a detailed custom kitchen that to do today could easily cost 50k to put in a fancy ikea looking kitchen. 😅
Rips out warm, cozy, architectural kitchen full of design and replaces it with a subway bathroom. The only thing that needed changing out was the counter top.
Exactly!! I hate subway tile and they don’t belong in a kitchen. I immediately associate them with a bathroom
No induction cooktop?
Induction comes with its own problems. It doesn’t work for everything and your limited in the pots and pans you can use.
Finally a second video, time to get a snack and enjoy! You missed an opportunity to make a small pull out drawer for k cups from the floating shelf in the coffee bar
Wow!! You really transformed the kitchen!! Beautiful 😍 awesome job😊
THUNDERCATS! HO!
