Do you know what actually hits really hard in that scene for me? Its really subtle, and its only because I overthink everything, especially about an amazing piece of television like this. But what hit me really hard was the look on Ciceros' face when she drove through the house. His character isnt phased by anyhting, dude throws hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars around to his nephews because they have an idea and is virtually unphased when it doesnt work out. He gets loud but keeps calm during the whole fork thing, but the look on his face when she drives through the house is pure just "Oh........fuck......."

This episode made me: 1) understand Natalie. I loved her before, I really liked her as a character, but this episode made me understand her to a certain extent. I've been in her position where she's basically walking on eggshells every single minute and that's exhausting, and it does take a toll on your mental health. Nat and Carmy are like two sides of the same coin, but Natalie has better ways to communicate than Carmy (and Pete, who supports her), and still, you can see her almost about to explode. You know things are really bad when she's the one trying to calm Mike, because for her to raise her voice? Yeah, it was bad, bad. 2) Appreciate Pete a lot more. Because the family always makes fun of him, they don't take him seriously, they're rude to him and he's still there and he loves Natalie and respects her, he's never been mean to her, he's never insulted her and you can say she's not that patient sometimes, she even threw his food away and he didn't react in a bad way. That's something that stayed with me, because having a super dysfunctional and complicated family has been one of the main reasons I've refused any kind of relationship, just the idea of making them interact with my family scares me to no end, but Pete does it and he's nice about it. He loves Natalie and that makes him endure whatever crap the family puts him through. I don't know, I wasn't expecting to appreciate Pete this way and now I do.
I loved this episode even though it was really hard to watch.

Donna is very clearly mentally il and dealing with a personality disorder and/or bi polar and as a result of this Mikey, Sugar and Carmy are all subjected to abuse in their childhood him. You have neglect, emotional and psychological abuse and possibly even physical abuse happening. It's a recipe for ptsd, anxiety and depression. I think Carmy's deep seated fear is that he is the same as Donna and that his mood swings and his erratic behavior are all just signs that he's becoming his mother when in reality, the guy is suffering with c-ptsd following years of abuse, both at home, and at work. The recent death of Mikey is now bringing it to the surface again. Richie's jibe at him when he was stuck in the walk-in, calling him 'Donna' sent Carmy off the deep end and the reason is because Richie just confirmed his biggest fear.
Sugar looks like she has it all together but she is also still traumatised. She is lucky to have a kind and empathetic partner in Pete, their relationship has probably gone a long way towards healing her but the fear around motherhood is definitely a direct result of her own childhood. Sugar fears that she will be as abusive and neglectful a parent as Donna has been to her and her brothers. Note that Sugar still invites Donna to the friends and family night, because she craves the approval and love of her mother even though she knows that Donna is incapable of giving her what she needs.

I speculate Lee wanted to take “The Beef” from Mikey: we know Jimmy was close friends with father Berzatto who was the one who bought the lot; Lee might at least have known some of the context and be ‘trying to clean up a mess’ left behind by Mikey’s dad, even if it means cutting out Mikey
To Lee’s concerns, Mikey is the burden on Donna, when they are likely mother and son caught in a misery spiral

No wonder why Sugar hates being at the restaurant & wanted Carm to just take Cicero up on his offer to buy the property & be done with it but Carm's refusal to do so makes me think he may be addicted to the chaos because he's a willing participant at this point.

i hate it how everyone is trying to cater to carmy, while fcking Michael is struggling with everything, getting ridiculed and clowned left and right... has to deal with the obvious depression and aggressive constant drunken state of his mother... which eventually leads to him offing himself.
you can see that when carmy brings him the painting and talks to him about starting the bear he is sad... cuz he probably already made his mind about taking himself out... and he is just sad that he wont be there with and for carmy.
To end it for me, the worst thing is lee has been hard pressing and clowning Mikey all night long and not a single soul defended Mikey. Not a fucking single one of them supported him. They all just remained silent. sheeeeeeeesh that was a hard watch episode in general.

Probably because what Lee was, albeit sadly, based on truth, and the rest being his family no one tells him directly about those things, since they can probably tell he's not ok. Only that Lee himself is also an ass, so he doesn't say it in a loving manner as a family member would ideally do. Trust me, I know. I have someone like Mike in the family too. Very macho, acts like his fine, messes up a lot, over and over again, and everyone knows but no one says this directly
