I watched this today and i can say that the movie is pretty entertaining. It does has it's cheesy moment and flat lines but it's still an enjoyable fantasy film. Don't listen to the haters and critics. Go check it out and see it for yourself.

1. the Great Wall. It is a wall, first built before the Qin Dynasty, BC220. That means, it exists for more than 2,000 years. In the beginning, the Great Wall is used to defend ancient Nomads Of The North. At present, the Wall is a symbol construction of China, just like pyramid to Egypt, Eiffel Tower to France, the Statue of Liberty to US.
2. Ancient China has its own myth system, and most were record in literature. One of the most popular is the Shan Hai Jing (山海经）. Gods, immortals, ghosts and monsters are included in this book. So, the queen monster in this movie is called Tao Tie, is just a small one.
There is no metaphor in this movie. No Trump, no Mongolians, no Mexican. And, there is no super hero with super power.
Personally, I like this movie, because I like the ancient myth stories. That's all I wanna say.

I watched this movie 4 times! 3 times in China, and 1 time here. I really love this movie because my friend acted a Bear Troop Soldier in it. It is an imaginative and compact story, no boring minute. So many Chinese popular actors in it, and I really love the first battle part. But at the AMC theater, the subtitles are out of frame a little bit, it might make audience couldn't understand the story very much.

I can't stop cringing. Another movie with an "Asian" setting where a white dude trots in and becomes a hero and makes a difference. I can already predict that the white guy is initially rejected by the Chinese but latwr gets accepted, ends up saving China/the world and the Asian chick is going to fall in love with him later and they live happily ever after in la la land. Plus what is a white guy doing in Ancient China. Why do they all speak English?!?! The English language didn't exist around the year 10000. Plus language changes periodically. English in 11600's would be completely different from English in 11900's and English even in the 19000's and the 12000's is different from each other in terms of customs, slangs, etc.

This movie is by far the best i've seen. I don't care people are going to hate it. I already watched and it awesome. I watched it like 4 times because of the battles, armies and beasts.
