    That is just awesome man! Love that one! From the design to the size to the steel. A great knife.

    I love my Chris Reeve Pacific and Green Beret knives but would love to add TRC Apocalypse to my fixed blade collection. I prefer leather sheaths over Kydex.

    Great video thanks. Love the knife for heavy use. 1/4 is great at baton splitting wood. My 4 Max Scout from Cold Steel has the tip get bigg at the tip the same way as the swedge then gets wider with no swedge at the tip going toward the point.

    Very useful review. I recently bought one but my apocalyptic finish looks very clear and sharp + bright green-ish pattern. Did you have similar thing on your blade surface then worn off by using it? How many years of using it will make more apocalyptic look like yours?

      Thank you, Im glad you enjoyed it. Ive had my knife for about two years. That said I probably use it about 3 or 4 weeks of the year when I go camping. Now, when I do go camping I used it quite a bit if that helps

    Yea! I have the big Acta Non Verba fixed blade in elmax. Your finish apocalypse finish is really good looking, mine is a dark grey. I'm really intrested in the lanyard too. Where/how did you learn to tie that? I would like to learn that. Thanks for showing it.

      Thank you! I learned from a CZcams video from a channel called Weavers of eternity. The video is called 4 Strand Round Braid knot and loop paracord bracelet. Its a bracelet but I made it work. Hope this helps!

    I wish they used a better steel for the price you pay

    • @KnivesoftheRoundTable
      @KnivesoftheRoundTable  Před 2 lety

      I like Elmax quite a bit. Its not quite M390 but a very balanced steel. If you could choose, what steel would you use?

    • @sirsir9665
      @sirsir9665 Před 2 lety +1

      @@KnivesoftheRoundTable M390 is way way over rated. It's made in the 80s and beside edge retention It's just good for corrosion resistance that's it. No toughness or shock resistance at all. Not good for a fixed blade you plan to use outdoors. Elmax is bit better It's Prone to chipping so for a survival knife of that caliber It's not great either. Since it's an "apocalypse" knife it should be made kf Cpm 3V steel. If you want a better balanced steel than use MagnaCut steel. It'd blow the first two steels away.

    • @bback74
      @bback74 Před 2 lety +1

      The first version of the Apocalypse they made also came in M390. I own one and also this new one in Elmax. The first model was thinner and shorter (a bit lighter in hand) and perhaps M390 made more sense on that one. Elmax may be a preferred choice on a heavier, more chopping focused knife perhaps? I dunno. Anyway....the heat treatment they are doing on all their steels are top notch.

    • @ThorDyrden
      @ThorDyrden Před 2 lety +1

      @Sir Sir From the intended use of such a huge knive foremost you want toughness - and Elmax is one of the best in that regard M4 or 3V are better - but M4 would not be as corrosion resistant.. which I would also like to have in an outdoor, hard use knive... and then it really comes down to secondary traits like ease of sharpening and edge retention, where one or the other is slightly better, but Elmax is decent in any of these secondary disciplines. It is a very well-rounded, extreme tough "super steel".
      Elmax is a modern PM-steel - and one of the best choices for such a knive... which one you have in mind would be clearly superior?
      The only obvious one coming to my mind would be CPM Magnacut - but this was not available, when the Apocalype was designed.

    • @KnivesoftheRoundTable
      @KnivesoftheRoundTable  Před 2 lety +2

      I wont argue with the use of Magnacut, but I also dont think that Elamx is a poor choice for this knife.
