đ© The end of year 216 BC is becoming an entangled mess. Pretty soon most of the Mediterranean will be drawn into the conflict. Next two episodes will lead us into the expansion of the war in Iberia, the defection of Syracuse and the revolt in Sicily, the continuation of the revolt in Sardinia, and the Macedonian entry into the war. Strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride :)

LOL They used lead pipes for water? Explains all the violence haha jk. Ty for all of your content, much appreciated :D
Historemarche is to be commended because he shows us the interesting minor battles of the second punic war.
lol yea i commented in 1 of the last video and said thought i finished the series but surprised there are more.
The grand strategy is incomplete without the details. Excellent work. Please keep it coming.
@@nonye0 there's still a lot more to cover, the war in Italy lasts until 204 BC followed by the Battle of Zama a couple years later.
@@nonye0 the series only finishes when humans do. History marche is committed. Its gonna outlive national geographic and history channel. Im just waiting for battleweek. đŠ
They go DEEP. They should be renamed to Deep HistoryMarche.
We always hear about the big battles during the Punic Wars so it's refreshing to learn more about the minor ones that never get covered. Thanks
Agreed. It offers valuable context into the events of the war
Yeah legit before this video, I didn't even know that Carthage fought in Sardinia
I thought they permanently lost it after the first war and didn't bother sending troops to it in the second war since Sicily and Spain were more important
Hannibal and Scipio - truly in a league of their own. So few times in history did two true masters battle one another for such stakes - In how many ages hence would this our lofty scene unfold ? In states unborn and accents yet unknown?
Well said brother!
Caesar vs Pompey
@@Danny-mg1hu Good call!
Yea they smart bois
Ain't most of the stuff about Hannibal got only written down, because the ... Nephews or Grandchildren? ... of Scipio paid somebody to do so, for their family chronicals?
It's fascinating that over 2000 years ago history is still preserved and can be told, to know and see these events in great detail is truly amazing.
Or they just made it up, still a great watch đ
@@skun406bro made an insult for historians in 2000 years
Wonderful. I have no other words for this excellent series. The best and most accurate historical series I have ever seen. A lot more instructive than many history books on the Punic wars. Regards from Sardinia ;)
Wow, thank you! Big shout to Sardinia. Wonderful place to visit!
hail Piemme! fellow sardinian!
This is without a doubt the best series on the second punic war i have ever seen. I thought i was already a Hannibal expert but wow, have i learned so much more!!!
I would even say that this is the best historical series at all. 2nd Punic War described like it happened 2 weeks ago on Twitter not over 2 thousands years ago.
Hanno is one of those guys in history you wish you could travel back in time and punch on the teeth
no need we got tons of hannos in our time even worse
I for one thank Hanno for his contribution
while carthage had Hanno claiming 4 peace, Rome had Cato the elder claiming carthage destruction
@@plusultra4961 this is why Carthage could never be an imperial power
why?
So Hanno contributed to Hannibals doom. Just imagine how far he could've gone, with everyone on board.
As a Sardinian and long standing follower of this channel I cannot but be super excited with this episode, where my island finally gets on the map and becomes protagonist.
It is so cool to see it feature in one of HM videos!
And I wanna also say that I have been to the Cornus' (Columbaris) archeological site. It was pretty awesome.
Sardinia is the region with the most archeological sites in the world.
Thank you for watching. I'm working on episode 17, that will take us to Iberia, but in episode 18 there is another battle in Sardinia :)
@@HistoryMarche cool, man!! Glad to hear that!!!!
@@HistoryMarche When will you finish the series?
I never realized there were this many battles and that Romans kept loosing so many soldiers even though they won this one. No wonder they just hated Carthage and wanted to delete it from the map.

Disclaimer. I don't speak Latin, so I'm hoping google translate got it close.
And no wonder Rome was such a power.
They got thrashed at Cannae.
Then Spawn another 80,000 men within a few months, what the hell
I've been following the series since its debut in 2018 and this is probably the first major battle won by the Romans. It may be still early, but one of my favorite battles of the 2nd Punic War is "The battle of Metaurus River", where the other brother of Hanibal, Hasdrubal Barca is defeated and killed in action by an army led by two roman Consuls. His head, then was thrown to Hanibal's camp to low is morale. This was a world war by ancient standards. i hope you are going to cover it.
As always thank you for your work.
Spoilers bruh
Of course. Metaurus is one of the key battles of the war
@@HistoryMarche hopefully you getting more planned
@@robert23456789 Absolutely. As far as battle videos go, I'll mostly focus on the Hannibal series now.
Interestingly up until that point Hannibal had respected the fallen bodies of all the roman generals he had killed. In a similar way, during the first war, his father Hamilcar had done the same in sicily by allowing the romans to bury their dead, even if the romans didn't allowed him to do the same with his fallen troops, it seems that Scipio was the only honourable roman.
Yes! Yes! Yeeeeeeees! They back with my Haniball! I was waiting for this like crazy! I just love to listen You guys!!! Big love and maximum respect!
Rock on! One Hannibal episode per month. It takes time to do these videos :)
I'm with Viking! FANTASTIC! THANK u!
@@HistoryMarche i know i kniw but in the end waiting is worth it 100%! You put so much effort in this like hell and for than do the end of my days I will love You guys and respect You!
Viking spits truth! I second this notion!
@@HistoryMarche never rush them, whatever pressure you get from fans, your work is complete excellence and i would be very sad to see that lost in future episodes, as hard as it is to wait for a new episode .... when it comes online it is just a jewel of a show, you guys deserve every praise you get
I like this series of Hannibal and looking forward to your continuation of Octavian.
This is my favourite historical Series from History March The Story of Hannibal Is just amazing
Ooh, going into depth on minor secondary fronts. I love it. Gimme more.
Thank you sir. Yes, some of these "side events" seem small, but within 2-3 episodes it will become much clearer how they tie in with Hannibal. All of these events will impact his campaign in Italy a lot!
@@HistoryMarche imagine The Carthaginian Senate voting for a full support for Hannibal...but the history was written in other way...looks like was a wrong decision in the end! their mistake was BIG!
@@dand7763 Indeed. Just small tweaks to Carthaginian war policy could've had major implications.
The nice thing about a world war (which is what it was for the people of the time) is that every battlefield fits into the greater scheme of the conflict.
@@HistoryMarche no one cares if they are side events or if it ties in at all. Just keep them coming. :) that's a compliment
So excited to see these new Hannibal videos! This may be my all-time favourite series on CZcams
I'll probably release a new episode each month. It takes time to do make these :)
@@HistoryMarche honestly take as much time as you need man, the quality of these is amazing. quality is always better than quantity. even monthly would be a real treat
@@HistoryMarche im interested to see your depiction on the Siege of Syracuse when that comes up
I have no words the describe the quality of detail on your work. By far the best documentary I ever watched in my life.
I am very happy that we are going to see more on the over all Punic war. Also if someone ever asks me what I would do with a time machine Iâm going to tell them, âTo kill Hanno the secondâ
Fun fact. The same hanno cost Carthage the first punic war
As much as i hated hanno, i got to admit, he was one cunning old fox. What should Mago have said to counter the accusations i.e. a perfect rebuttal back at hanno?
Nah, grab him, take him to the ruins of Carthage and show him what his lust for greed and peace has led.
I swear, you guys get better and better when you do the Hannibal series!! Keep up the amazing work HistoryMarche!!!!!!
HistoryMarche, you have done it once again. This video was brilliant in that it dealt with the grand strategy, ( or lack thereof) of the second Punic war of both empires. Brilliant.
Such a great episode. It flew so well alternating politics, great speeches and battles.
I am so happy you guys are covering not just Hannibal and Scipio's campaigns, but filling in the gaps between them!
The videos look better every time a new one comes out, the narration is epic and the content is the most unbiased and complete I've come across... Truly a great result of the amazing work this channel does. Thanks HistoryMarche!
This is the best channel I know period! I always can't wait for the next one, but I understand how much effort and research must go into this. You're doing an amazing job. Thanks and keep it up because it's even better than some historical TV shows and movies
The quality of the video is perfect.
Thank you so much.â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
thank you for this guys. the insights into the "why" of an attack talks more of the mindset, with knowledge, wisdom, grit, experience, patriotism and sheer will...actually the roman attack was incisive and superbly thought out. kudos to him really...
The best history series on CZcams is back! Thank you for producing these amazing videos
Brilliant video. High quality maps, explanations, battles, edition... All people who like history about Punic Wars must see these videos. Congratulations.
Always excited to see a new episode on this series :)
Always great to see a new video about the great Hannibal.
I was feeling bored today with nothing interesting to watch, I decided to re-watch hannibal series again, and to my surprise saw this new part being uploaded 16 minutes ago. Amazing series so far, since from the first part I decided that I would only watch hannibal series from HistoryMarche channel so whenever I encounter any event related to hannibal on different videos I would immediately skip ahead as I don't want to get spoiled.
Excellent continuing coverage of this epic conflict!
WOW the animations are incredible, they are improving so much
That was interesting to find out what was going on in Sardinia during Punic war! Thank you!
Wonderful video. It's amazing your job, I was so blind about the second punic war believing that Tuciccino, Trasimene, Cannae, Metaurus, and Zama was all. Thank you for your teachings!!!
I really like this series, man! Thanks a lot for making it!
It doesn't get any better than this! Thank y'all!
A bloke at work put me onto this channel and I've been hooked! Keep it up gang, much loved
This episode truly shows how complex the 2nd punic war was. Interesting to see more from a carthaginian perspective aswell.
Such a joy to watch these battles such a lovely period of time to be lived again with your efforts thank you

We are so lucky because of your channel đđ
Even if it's a small victory, I am full of joy, because the Romans have finally won a battle. Great work!
my friend, i was always aware of history major events and personalities, but until i found this channel I was never watching it as captivated as I was when watching Lord of the rings many years ago, I love that you have made a secondary channel as well going into the fantasy stories but in my opinion you made actual history be so captivating that I recommended your channel across europe to all the friends i know , i lost hours upon hours simply watching your videos and listening like a child , unfortunately I cannot support you financially right now due to my financial state but your videos tell me many things, one of which is how to fight my own battle in my mind and escape this bad situation, I hope I will grow old and retire before your channel goes away
this is so ridiculously well done
