My uncle died of liver failure at the age of 35 due to drugs and alcohol. He once told my father (his brother) that there was not a drug that he had not tried. His problem broke the hearts of many people in our family, including especially my grandmother and his twin sister.
Nobody believes me when I tell them Ronald Reagan caused this in the 80s. This started when he financed his illegal war in Nicaragua with crack cocaine flooded into the inner cities with the help of the CIA. I grew up in Philadelphia and watched this happen in real time.

@@Fuzzknuck-vq4nl I get what you are saying. They did it, they deserve it. Somewhere, these people took a wrong turn. Or were handed some bad circumstances. How it happened and who played a hand in it doesn't matter. In the video, there are many you could tell were very attractive earlier in their lives. Many, I'm sure, had above average intelligence. I have driven through Kensington. Sad as hell. You don't see many older people. They just don't last too long once they get there. I just feel. if I don't have a little sympathy for these people, I would be just as droned as they are. Sure, they fucked up. Does that mean I shouldn't try to help them, if I can? I just can’t imagine the worry and pain felt by parents and family of ‘lost ones’. Your loved one, living in hell, and beyond your reach, influence or support. Having to turn them away as theft, deceit and prostitution have become how they feed their addictions - and you have to keep other family members safe from ‘lost ones’.
It's a heartbreaking things to experience. My brother is currently homeless, but I can't allow him to stay with me. I have to protect my children & my Mother who live with me. I've offered help, but he won't take the help he needs. He just wants someone to enable him. Every time the phone rings, you pray it's not "that call" 😔😢
So many people give or use the excuse that most of these people had terrible childhoods yet so so many parents, siblings and friends try to help. We are the ones laying awake worrying and crying while they just don’t care about the pain they are causing!!!

Those little girls, they look like twins, are CHILDREN!!!! I hope they find peace and safety from this evil before it gets too late. Drugs and alcohol will suck you in faster than you know it. I’ve lost five people from this stuff and struggling with drinking myself. Thanks for spreading awareness
I've tried to become an alcoholic before weed was legal. I just couldn't do it. Drinking alcohol always made me too sick. Not enjoyable at all. Don't they have legal weed in Philly yet? If not, then the "crisis" is by design. Weed is a gateway drug. What they don't tell you is the frickin' gate swings BOTH ways !

I'm struggling at the moment. I quit may 2022, got pregnant at the end of June, and my baby girl passed in my belly when I was 7 months pregnant. I delivered my deceased baby girl exactly 2 months before her due date. It was a Sunday and we had a funeral for her that following Friday. I started using again that evening. I'm trying to dig my way out again. I think I would get "high" for the first month, maybe 6 weeks tops. I went from snorting a small tiny line to over 10 nickel bags a day in less than 3 months. Not a terrible habit but this shit is so difficult to weene down. I'm starting a new job next week and hoping I can detox and use suboxone. 🙏
It's devastating because it doesn't just affect the drug user. Family members feel hopeless because they is nothing they can do to help. Children are left without parents because they are taken into the care of the local authority's, some are adopted never to see their parents again. It is heartbreaking for everyone involved.
Thank you for the amazing footage and raw information. Its so dishearting its hard to find people focusing on the actual issues, even if we can't understand them, we can try what we can to find resolve for places like this.
This is a very eye opening documentary. I was actually planning on looking into using this for several projects we have going on at the moment. Unfortunately, your audio completely drops off at the 10:50-13:13 mark. You might want to check it out. Otherwise, thank you for caring enough to spend so much time giving a sympathetic view from behind the veil of what really is happening to so many of our loved ones. We must get this out to people. As it stands, we are losing 1 human life every NINE minutes in America. People want to talk about so much that is insignificant, waste so much time and resources unnecessarily while they look down their noses, if even look at these lives period-that is until it happens to one of their own... This is the worst atrocity to happen and is being used as a weapon; not only from our enemies abroad, but evil people who pretend to be Americans as well. This is eugenics at its worst. Think people!
one month later and the audio is still fooked. Shame since this is some of the best quality video. May I also suggest a different narrator? He's OK, but I think the subject matter deserves better. this could be an awesome video - just needs a little work. :)

The only one that can help them is themselves. The Good Lord did not give them the drugs that they're using... The Good Lord did not tell them to become homeless and do drugs. They did this all upon themselves with no one to blame but themselves. FACTS.

Well done video.. haunting. No one can effectively help until they want to help themselves.. There are only temporary fixes for immediate needs that hopefully gets them through one more day and the chance to change
This...this is the truth of it. Until they finally decide to make a change, it will not change. I had 2 teens that were caught in drug addiction. We were not a poor family, lived in a nice neighborhood, and they were very much loved and never abused. Their mother and I were divorced, but that was the only "at risk" factor there really was. I took them to ER a couple times because they were in such distress and I didn't know what was wrong. In the beginning I didn't know what was going on and Dr's wouldn't tell me what it was, due to HIPPA, even though I was the parent. One of the Dr's finally gave me enough clues. They were in heroin withdrawal, which if you don't know, is quite painful for the addict to go through. I was in disbelief, but after getting smart about it (google) and searching their rooms, garbage, cars, etc... I finally recognized what was going on. As a matter of fact, this video got my attention because at one point I had to go this exact area in Philly to get one them, when they called me for help. I tried everything, sent them to numerous rehabs, kicked them out, countless therapies, counseling, etc... Had to call 911 for each of them, at different times. They stole just about everything that wasn't locked up to sell at pawn shops for cash. Once that was gone, they shoplifted. Got arrested for various things numerous times. It was the absolutely most heartbreaking, frustrating period of my life. I could hardly sleep, and I lived in fear of the phone call saying they had found them dead. Finally, both of them agreed to try methadone treatment, although I wasn't convinced that it wasn't just trading one drug for another (which it is). It worked. That was 4 years ago, and one is completely off methadone and finally living free of all drugs. The other is still in treatment, but is on the right track and hasn't backslid (this is more stubborn kid - go figure). Anyway, they both told me, even after seeing some of their drug friends OD and die, they were not going to stop until they decided to, that's why the rehabs, and all the other stuff didn't work. Pleading with them, and trying to reason with them, doesn't work. They understand what they are doing, they just can't and don't want to stop until they decide to. I've asked them several times why they did it to begin with, and basically each of them had someone who introduced them to heroin. They weren't even doing it together, it just happened. Heroin is extremely addicting - never, ever, try it out of curiosity, you may never get out of it. Not looking for any sympathy, I thought that just maybe my experience might help someone - from either side of the addiction. It's a disgusting plague that I wish there was more LONG term in-residence treatment for that didn't cost thousands of dollars. Locking them up in jail/prison doesn't solve anything, it only makes it worse. I know many won't agree, but I believe that they aren't criminals, they are victims. Bad/poor/stupid choices notwithstanding, victims none the less. Some other countries have far better support and rehab systems.
It's sad, but everyone else in the neighborhood shouldn't have to live like this because of these addicts. Especially the children who didn't ask to be here. 😢 I see groups go out there to feed these homeless addicts & provide toiletries, clothing, etc. But is it really helping? Or are you enabling addicts to stay on the streets & not get help!? Also creates more trash from the food waste they throw everywhere & clothing left all over. I have never seen Kensington so bad in my life! I feel bad for the good ppl who are stuck there.
Yes it's absolutely heartbreaking! I pray for these poor addicts to have strength and seek help. It's a horrible disease! I also feel for the people who live there and have to be in fear of so many things! Kensington used to be a wonderful neighborhood in the 70's! My Dad was from there and my Nanny still lived there when I was little. I got my 1st Holy Communion dress under the L at K & A at this respectful little shop, I mean all the stores were very old school and people actually knew each other and it was a great community! My Aunt & my cousins used to live on Venago St. I loved going down there! It was awesome growing up in Philly in the 70's & 80's! We all need to pray to God above 🙏🏻🕊️
The city gov't would have to declare an emergency...call out the national guard.set up a bounty on drug dealers & smugglers. Set up an isolated housing area...evaluate these drug addicts...save who you can..and I have no idea what you do with someone who permently fried their brains on these drugs..
I live about 7 blocks from here unfortunately 😢 Its sad all around, there are some really beautiful homes around here n people do still care about their blocks n sweeping up . Its a shame some of these people r just stuck here. Whats even more sad is that the school kids have to walk around n see this carninge. The one building they were trying to get into is the free library.
I look at some of these women and can tell they were beautiful back in the day and still look good NOW if they got off the drugs. I think social media has romanticized being homeless (being "free") and drug use as something GOOD.
@@billw5235 I watch this video, and I also see homeless men. But I usually see comments suggesting that the women are precious and must be saved. I'm just asking why don't we see men as unique and save the men too. Why didn't op say that the men were beautiful back in the day too?
The men are parasitic on the women. They earn enough to support two or more addicts. As such they are sex slaves. The pimps are their masters. The John's I can't comprehend. Must be vile having sex with these sick, stoned people.
@@IlPookiell My issue isn't with the comments, it is with the fact in every video this guy does he is stalking these women. He offers them no help, all he does is exploit them for monetary gain, he never speaks to any of them he just follows them around, what he is doing is sick.
I know this is real life but it kinda doesn’t seem real seeing it this bad, it looks like a movie or something. It’s hard to believe that places are this bad in America. I just watched something with Scott Baio saying he’s moving his family from California to Florida because the drug epidemic is so bad where he lives. It’s bad everywhere I think but a lot of people don’t see places like this. This is horrible, scary and sad. Thank you for sharing with us what the news doesn’t.
These people used to be put in mental institutions, but the government (under the guise of "civil rights") released all of them to the streets where they are preyed on and sicken themselves by various means. No way the mental institutions were worse than this.
It is this bad. I drove through it today and am scarred for life. This is a representation of what people should never want to become. It's sad, heartbreaking. Streets are dirty, everyone is an addict, unhealthy, clearly suffering from mental and physical impairments outside of using drugs. It's so sad and instead of building more apartments and restaurants, they need more rehab centers, etc. these people are suffering and the police do nothing.

On June 3, 2023 in PA Xylazine was classified as a level III controlled substance. Perhaps update your reporting to reflect this new law. It is now an illegal drug and is strictly prohibited to have without proper state licensing.
@@Gamesso1slO0l Exactly. Classifying and labeling drugs as “controlled” substances doesn’t change how people continue to use/abuse them. The USA has spent billions of dollars on the fight against drug abuse--all to NO avail. Stats on illegal drug use remain the same, while ever more tax payer money is spent on growing governmental bureaucracies put in place to control human behavior.
There's some seriously messed up comments in here, yes these people made a mistake, and believe me they're paying for it! and when you are on drugs you do and say things that you wouldn't do when clean, and it takes years of being clean for you to start thinking like a working respectful part of society, it's sad, but it's facts, I feel sorry for the kids having to see this, but hopefully it will show them to go to school, get a good job, and stay away from the drugs and street life, I pray for everyone of these lost souls! cause I didn't see 1 police car, they're doing drugs right in the open, there's probably needles right on the ground 😢, and a lot of them need psychological meds because they are self medicating and that also doesn't help, Lord if you don't hear anything I said today please help these people get their life straight❤.
It is very sad that so many people in America are struggling with addiction. Addiction can affect anyone, regardless of their age, race, gender, or socioeconomic status. It is true that unhappiness can be a factor in drug use, but there are many other reasons why people turn to drugs. Some people use drugs to cope with pain, stress, or trauma. Others use drugs to numb themselves from difficult emotions. And still others use drugs simply because they are curious or because they enjoy the way they make them feel. It is important to remember that addiction is a disease, and it is not a choice. People who are addicted to drugs are not bad people. They are simply struggling with a very difficult problem. There is help available for people who are struggling with addiction, and there is hope for recovery. Thus America, the wealthiest country in the world, has such a high rate of addiction. We need to do more to help people who are struggling with addiction. We need to provide more resources for treatment and prevention. We also need to change the way we think about addiction. We need to stop seeing it as a moral failing and start seeing it as a disease. If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, please reach out for help. There is hope for recovery.
Addiction is not a disease; that's pseudoscience and basically, just crap. Abuse of food, drugs, booze, sex are behavioral disorders and involve the FREE WILL choices of individuals. Newsflash: the US is already going bankrupt due to crippling debt and lack of REAL productivity; no money will or should be spent on people who CHOOSE TO LOSE. Take one into your home and see what happens, fool.
There is very little hope of healing from any disease in a society constructed under the seven sociopathic pillars of capitalism. That's why we don't yet have a compassionate euthanasia program. They all have phones, they contact their dealers everyday. Do you REALLY think they haven't yet tried to contact any help? The "help" is only there to make someone else money.
Combining the word homeless with their choice of living due to their drug of choice implies a homeless issue is the cause of their addiction which in fact is a mental issue
Shame on the city, state, government that lets this begin and triple shame for letting it continue! This is not love! Doing nothing, no penalties, no hospitalization is inhumane to them and the entire society. And when you decide to do something it must be mandatory! Just don’t let it fester by bandaids such as charities for food.
@@mochiebellina8190 Don't forget rehab centers. This crisis is by design under the seven sociopathic pillars of capitalism. Legalize weed, tell them it's a gateway drug, only this time don't "forget" to tell them the gate swings BOTH ways.. Problem solved.
It’s so hard to accept that this is happening in so many big cities in America. It’s also happening here in Canada, even the smaller cities. No one seems to know how to turn it around. We have so many that can’t afford housing so they become homeless. Many also have lost jobs that are simply not there anymore. As businesses fail the jobs dry up. And there’s nothing to replace them. It’s a sign of the times and it’s only going to get worse.

How sad this truly is, just think of what these young people could of made out of there lives, if they had just said NO that first time drugs were offered to them.
Or if weed was legal, they could just use that and get off the hard stuff. The gateway drug has a gate that swings BOTH ways. But we can't have healthy people in a society built under the seven sociopathic pillars of capitalism. Now can we? That's why tobacco and alcohol are legal, and our affordable "nutrition" is GMO bioengineered frankenfood.
Working with addicts and hearing their stories of why they turned to drugs is heartbreaking. What happened to them as children, continued into their teens. and I don't blame them. If my father molested me when I was 4 years old, then again at 7, I would not have grown up to be sane/normal (example of one client I had). When in treatment/rehab, MAJORITY of them are wonderful people, polite, caring, helpful, motivated, etc. The reason they continued to engage in drug abuse KNOWING it can kill them is they've given up. Many no longer cared if they died. Also, some felt the only way to get out of their addiction is by dying. Alot felt they had noone and nothing to live for.
We didnt have a huge drug problem before the 1960's, and Im sure molestation existed in those days. It also doesnt happen in most 3rd world countries where women have the worst treatment in the world and no legal protections. By the way, a child is like 10X more likely to get involved with drugs and crime when they were raised in a single mother household. Children with fathers in the home do much better in life.
Yeah, let’s keep patting them on the back and giving excuses!! Most of these people are taken off the streets and given more help than those of us who are struggling to survive day to day doing the right thing!!! We need to stop handing out excuses and start making them accountable for THEIR CHOICES AND ACTIONS! I don’t understand why these people are allowed to be walking down the streets slumped over high. They should be arrested and taken to a mental facility and remain there after a certain number of “chances”. It’s ridiculous seeing this in open public display like it’s normal behavior. I know many who had a terrible up bringing yet choose to want more and do better. It’s called choices… This country is full of “Let’s see what excuses we can make for them” and that doesn’t only pertain to addicts.
@@Truelyblue333Yes I chose to want more and did better. I don't mean i was into drugs but i lived an abusive life since my childhood. My hubby helped me come out from difficulties to recover. The journey was not easy😢 But I'm still battling some sicknesses
@@Truelyblue333 In no way was I patting them on the backs...with all due respect, I am more educated than you when it comes to substance abuse and perhaps mental health (I have my BA & MA in Psychology, both from universities, and I attended college to become a substance abuse counselor - as I was attending school, I also taught psychology at a college). But please keep in mind, NOONE wakes up in the morning and says, "today I am going to be a heroin addict". Sometimes these individuals have undiagnosed mental health issues and self-medicate in order to deal with their symptoms; whether it be anxiety/mood disorders, diagnosed with schizophrenia, or other/perhaps multiple mental health issues. When they arrive in treatment, may be the very first time they have EVER sought treatment; many went around undiagnosed for decades. Just please try to keep in mind, those you know who went through h*ll, perhaps they are the lucky ones to have had people who loved them and was with them on their therapeutic journey on the road to recovery/better mental health/help with trauma he or she experienced; which I am happy to hear they did not turn out as the people in these videos have. Not everyone (these in the videos) were lucky. The experiences these people had growing up, they did not have a good support system, a family to care, love and help them - many times it's a family who is toxic and/or the people you see in these videos, their own family turned them onto drugs. They did not have a healthy support system or know where to turn, didn't have the available resources to seek therapy, etc. Some were in the foster care system and the foster families abused them - one client I had, showed me the scars on his back from getting whipped when the state checks did not arrive on time to the foster families. One girl, her father sexually molested her at 4 then again at 7 - her brothers, their friends, and her cousins would molest her, at times, they took turns. And to be honest, if that happened to me, I would have turned to drugs. After going through that or other horrific experiences, NOONE would ever be right in their mind, grow up as a mentally sound individual. Experiences people went through, one cannot expect them to function properly and in turn they self-medicated in order to not think/deal with what they went through. As millions of others do/have done. Addiction does not discriminate - it can happen to any race, religion, and age. An individual who is 60 can go in for an operation and get addiction to pain killers then turn to heroin when they are no longer able to obtain prescriptions. I have seen many who think treatment is a joke and many who WANT to get better. I can proudly say, wherever I worked, other counselors, their clients relapsed and died. But wherever I worked, none of my clients, when I worked at treatment centers ever died due to relapsing, getting a hot batch and dying as a result. When you are genuine, honest, and show you care - believe me, these people KNOW you want to help them while they're in recovery. And when they are in recovery, YOU would be amazed at what wonderful people they are inside, they are beautiful hearts and are motivated to get their life back. But you asked how can they walk around in public like that? Just take a look at where and how they are living. It is not exactly Madison Avenue in New York City. Maybe 90% are walking zombies, and 10% you see, live in the area. But I doubt very highly that many wealthy or middle class individuals are venturing down that street, unless they took a wrong turn and ending up in this s**t area.

A lot of the causes of drug addiction were listed but one big one was left out. In many cases it begins with someone who was leading a normal life with a good job who got injured and was prescribed an addictive pain killer. When the painkillers become too difficult and expensive to get they transition to heroin. They're no longer able to maintain their successful lifestyle and end up losing everything and become homeless.
Actually they have studied this and facts today show most addicted don't start from Painkiller or narcotic medications anymore! Start on weed ,synthetic weed ,bath salts or just start with meth,etc......Doctors are terrified of getting fined or license revoked by medical boards since the 2016 CDC rules on opiates came down! As a chronic pain sufferer(CPS) I have been studying this since 2016,many CPS have had their meds taken away completely or reduced to almost nothing as Doctors fear getting into trouble! Had people have major surgery and they want to give them Antinflamitory meds like Motrin,Anvil etc they are so scared to presribe narcotic meds! It's gone from handing it out like candy, to won't give you anything ,driving some chronic pain patients that were doing good to street drugs, or they often delete themselves!
EXCELLENT POINT. Some people, the side effects of a drug are different in some people. While an opioid is a depressant, to some, it MAY produce feelings of euphoria (opposite of side effects mentioned on the sticker/label they slap on the bottle at the pharmacy. To those that painkiller make them euphoric, hyper, on the go, etc., they can get their work done- - are more productive and think, "hey, these pills are a god send!!! In the past it would take me 5 hours to get this done and now, when I take them, the work is done in less than 3 hours!!!" Believe me, they CAN make you feel GREAT. The song, "Mother's Little Helper" is about amphetamines - the wives in the 60's used to take them. Amphetamines is a stimulant. Back then, women stayed home and took care of the house and children. If they took the amphetamines, they had all the housework done, children cleaned up for dinner and dinner ready, on the table, by the time their husband returned home from work. MANY of my clients who became addicted to heroin, they started out on painkillers. Some became addicted in their 30's.40's - due to an automobile accident. This breaks my heart. When others see filthy drug addicts, I see someone's child/sister/brother/wife/mother/grandmother. Somewhere, these individuals have people who love them. So often I see medics desperately trying to revive someone almost every time I ride through this area; to the families who've lost their loved ones in this way, I am so very sorry. Please pray for all of these wounded, lost souls; May they find their way back to the people who love and learn to love themselves.

THANK YOU!!! People who put them down do not realize, the next addict shooting up/sniffing a bag of heroin, or burning the crack pipe may be the very same person they love and would NEVER in a million years believe their beloved family member, friend, or coworker (whoever they personally know!) would turn to drugs. She likely just started out wanting to party when she was young and got hooked on drugs , most of these drug addicts started off this way as they're not all sob stories as it's called stupid decisions . I was in a large party crowd from the age of 16 to 35 as the vast majority of people that I knew that got hooked on narcotics did so during their late teens and early 20's due to partying . Most started out as they got drunk and stupid resulting in them doing pills and cocaine especially at the bar scene which then evolved into heroin for many . I'm now 47 as I'd wager 40% of that crowd are now dead and many are still addicted living miserable lives . None of them were raped or abused as I knew most of them since childhood and this was a large party crowd of at least 30 people . I'm fortunate to have been wise enough to mainly drink although I did cocaine maybe a dozen times but didn't get hooked .

Could put them in prison. Why would you give them a choice? Nothing will change until we get rid of bleeding heart liberal attitudes.
We enable and allow all the time and for everyone. That's what this is all about.

It’s so hard to accept that this is happening in so many big cities in America. It’s also happening here in Canada, even the smaller cities. No one seems to know how to turn it around. @David Ellis - In what way are these wretched souls "promising"?
Videos like this are advertising this place as well as drawing awareness.
@@tanjamiller3321 imagine replying to a total stranger and ASSuming you know their life history or even their personal stories. Imagine thinking that just because you have a degree you’re smarter. Imagine reading and studying a lifestyle instead of living it and ASSuming that gives you greater knowledge. Imagine ASSuming I had the greatest upbringing without trauma, imagine that. Imagine thinking that just because you listen to a story of someone telling you how many people molested her in her family that you yourself would’ve turned to drugs but you can’t imagine those of us who lived the same life CHOSE to do and be better. Crazy, right? The choices we all have.
Imagine typing all of those scenarios out thinking to yourself you are so full of knowledge and your helping an incompetent person to understand. 😂 What you really need to KNOW is I have lived everything you have read or studied about. Been through it myself or with a family member. IMAGINE THAT! Treatment ONLY works for those who admit or are willing to get help. You or anyone else will have the power within yourself to get an addict clean.

YOU HAVE THE MOST IMPORTANT LOSS: - WHERE IS THE OFF-SCREEN LAUGHTER?
No excuse. Follow the directions on the bottle. This is like blaming a bottle of beer for alcoholism.
That's a bullshit cop-out.
I often would joke with them and call them "late bloomers". Majority of clients began using late teens, early 20's.
You narrate as if you are trying to educate but the truth is your camera always ends up focusing on the women. I would bet there is just as many, if not more, men on the street but somehow there is almost always a woman in your shot. Kinda creepy if you ask me

Thank you for sharing that. I've been reading too many of the ignorant comments people post on videos like this one. Forgot there were still people who are not narrow minded and cold! 🙏🙏🙏👐👐👐

You have a good heart. The world and those who WANT to get better, turn their lives around, need more people such as yourself.

Its really sad man .
STOP helping addicts, they FREELY chose to use drugs and to live like this. No help or sympathy from me. Stop wasting time, monies and resources on addicts they do not want to change nor help themselves. We should be using our resources on those of us who truly want the help, change their lives and are putting forth the effort to change.
That poor lady. What horrors has she been through to want to escape like that. Sad to think she was someone's baby girl once 😢
