  • The Shinsaibashisuji shopping street stretches 580 meters from the south side of Nagahori Dori to Soemoncho Dori from north to south.
Walk along this shopping street to Ebisu Bridge and Dotonbori, where the famous electronic billboard is located.
Including Daimaru Department Store, there are about 180 stores, including clothing stores and restaurants, lining the street.
It attracts approximately 60,000 shoppers on weekdays and 120,000 on Sundays and holidays.
Its development dates back to the Edo period (1603-1867), and in the beginning, bookstores, antiquarian bookstores, prop stores, koto shamisen stores, kimono shops, etc. were the main businesses.
After the Meiji period (1868-1912), the number of retail stores selling imported goods, as well as watch stores and kimono shops, increased.
In the Taisho and Showa periods, kimono shops were also transformed into department stores.
Today, it is still a bustling shopping district with a mix of stores ranging from long-established stores that have been in business for several hundred years to clothing stores that incorporate the latest fashions.
