To be honest, they were all fantastic (and Pickford was bloody brilliant as well). Easily the best pens I've seen from any England squad. Also, even though it wasn't open play, those penalties were by far the best performance from England in this tournament. All six players looked so comfortable, composed, and professional.

Kobie could've passed the ball right instead of trying to shoot through a crowd man. He was good in getting to the position, but made wrong decisions. He could've passed the ball to Saka who was closer to the goal and open.

Spurs fan here, I took 3 years to rate Kane. I’m a hard task master and anyone can get lucky for a year. In his third year I said “actually this guy can play.” Tonight saka showed me he was a top player. Before maybe his youth helped him, maybe people didn’t know him, you can look good for a yea or two and then disappear. Today he was probably our best player and then turned up when it was needed. He’s a top player, thats what top players do. Delighted he scored the pen too, redemption for 21. Like Pearce v Spain in 96.
Especially after euro 2020, Saka has now truly shown that he is capable of greatness.

Shaw needs to start, we began to offer so much down the left once he came on.
He stayed as far back as Trippier did ffs. This Trippier scapegoating and Shaw love in is way over the top. I'd start Shaw in the next game but he went forward twice and just passed it sideways or backwards every other time. Am I missing something?

He definitely brings experience, simplicity, and, a few over laps. Shaw keeps it simple, that was a neat performance from Shaw, fair play to tht guy, he stepped and maybe 2nd choice however, he was once first and, he's older, he's actually gd to have coming on, passing, talking, I think tonight, Southgate subs was spot on.

Saka was brilliant the whole game, Trent was set up to be a scapegoat for Southgate, but in Trent we believe best modern-day right back in the country by a mile, and before you moan that's what the DMF are for to cover him when he runs and upfield

This change in formation was a breath of fresh air . All it needs is for Foden to be replaced with Palmer and Gordon as the left midfield instead of trippier. Then we’d be a threat on both sides of the pitch and not just focusing on Saka side

Everyone talking about Saka penalty, before that he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile.
He was beating men at will, sometimes 2 at a time, Harry Kane needs to apologise for not getting on the end of one of those crosses.
His goal was a worldie but in the 116th min on the opposite side of the pitch, deep in his own half he made a block to save his team
Absolutely unreal performance, id put it up there with any ive seen in an englad shirt, David Beckham Greece 2001, before the free kick he was everywhere, Ashley Cole portugal 2004 & 2006 come to mind but saka was up there today

Genuinely, I have to be grateful to Southgate's England for changing the mentality of being an England fan. My kids have grown up with him as the manager and they've seen us play awful, awful football and this tournament in particular has been tough, but I cant help but be a little bit jealous that my kids have only ever seen England go deep in major cups. I remember being a kid, and until fairly recently also an adult, who was genuinely confused by the fact that everyone said we had one of the best teams in the world but we never made a dent in a tournament in my lifetime until recently. I can only hope we keep building from here, keep inspiring the next generation. Mainoo and Bellingham are still borderline children, and Saka, Foden and Guehi are only a little older. I hope they take up the baton and carry it a little bit further, it finally feels like England have something to build on, rather than needing to rip everything down and start again from 0.
My first memories as a kid was Italia 90 deep in a semi final with Germany i thought we was on to something special as it was a special time still for me personally and then euro 96 we probably should of won IV had to suffer ever since 😂 failed golden generation embarissing defeats penalty fortune not particularly great but i agree we can build on this team we have quality on the pitch and a great foundation to build on cmon England ❤❤❤

He’s playing walking football, offers no threat running in behind, gives the opposition centre half’s a day off and takes up space in midfield that Bellingham and Foden naturally want to play in.
We weren’t creating anything until Saks took the initiative and after that we were immediately negative again .. extra time was painful with zero intent on winning the match.

Improvements this game: Southgate's overall tactics and formation; Saka, Rice, Trippier, Foden, our pens.
Problems still remaining: Kane, Bellingham, subs on too late, not enough shots on goal, not enough high tempo, not enough clear chances created.
Overall, acceptable progress but not enough to win the tournament or even beat Holland. Worth celebrating but much to improve still.
I think gareth southgate is very optimistic and very calm about his players. He is a good coach. He will make it.
Only thing he has executed which we were doing wrong from the start is the high press apart from that if it wasn’t for us conceding he most definitely wouldn’t have made those substitutions which he has shown time and time again and still overall not getting us playing well with the most talented squad out of everyone this tournament
