The individuality of the child and young person is valued in so many aspects of our curriculum.
In our rapidly changing world, having the same Class Teacher/Guardian through most, if not all, of their Lower / Upper School years provides a haven of stability and continuity which is extremely rare in other schools.
This picture of the pupil is shaped over time: up to eight in the Lower school and up to four in the Upper School; forged with a pastoral incentive for a sustained relationship throughout their school career.
To have achievements recognised, whether they are academic or not, allows them the opportunity to explore themselves at really deep levels. And that is where the acknowledgement of their originality comes from. From that, they as individuals gather that they matter.
The pupils develop a unique level of trust and confidence through this pastoral care, while their teacher gains a deep understanding of the strengths and needs of each pupil.
The most fundamental definition of Steiner education is ‘education towards freedom’.
It also means a close and supportive relationship is developed between the Class Teacher / Guardian and the parents/carers.
