I have been a gamer my entire life (32 years old) and i have never bought a single microtransaction. I absolutely hate them.
Rookie... I'm 56. I played Pong when it first came out, had to pass through picket lines of evangelicals to get into my local hobby shop to buy my AD&D books, and played on a PVP server on EQ1 [Rallos Zek forever!... strangely, I somehow missed the Ultima Online thing tho]. I really am an OG... 'old geek'. Emphasis on 'old'... now get off my lawn :D

Agree. What sucked for me was realizing it was just a skin and I didn't even like the way they looked. Very frumpy.
And you couldn't turn it off, so you had to kill off the horse to get rid of it or just leave it parked somewhere forever and use a different one.
That castle dlc was banging tho. Loved it.
Mine would be when I rage quit my guild when raiding SoO on progression. I rage quit so hard that I immediately bought a server transfer upon leaving my guild. My guild mates found out when they tried to send me a tell and my character was no longer available despite being online.

Unfortunately I've spent multiple hundreds of pounds on FIFA points before but this is the very first year that I've not bought fifa at all... and now i realise just how bad microtransactions are! It took me to stop using them to be able to notice the terrible impact they're having on gaming. If a DLC pack where you get alot of new *ACTUAL* content comes out later down the line for a game then it wouldn't annoy me (as much) as these pointless yet pricy microtransactions... although like you i miss the days of one purchase of a game being enough like the ps1, 2 and N64 days.

I did the exact same thing but bought £60 worth of in-game currency for some free to play game I hadn't ever installed. Sony refunded the money back into my PSN wallet which I was then forced to spend on an overpriced PS store game.

I've got two shameful purchases.
First, not long after I got my Xbox One, and not entirely understanding it, I accidentally purchased some DLC for Forza 6 thinking it was actually the full game of Forza 6, because it was only like $3, and who wouldn't buy Forza 6 for $3? So, now I have Forza 6 DLC that will likely never be used.
Second, I'm embarrassed to think about how much money I spent unlocking spots in Marvel Puzzle Quest just so I could get new three or four or even five star cover. The cover was already unlocked, I just needed the space to put it into. Which was the devious part of that game. Well played, Marvel Puzzle Quest. Well played.

Totally justifiable. Free game is amazing and marketed so dlc is the only stuff you pay for. This is literally the ONLY dlc I've ever felt GOOD about spending.

I think is okay to buy things on free games to support the studio however I don't buy anything on my $60 games but I will make some purchases if I got the game on a great deal.

Wright Wright as long as they are optional and not pay to win then I agree as well. Example is GTA V that make you work for money and it's not fun anymore at some point. I understand that there is people who like that but I don't.

I'm not really ashamed of anything I bought because I usually only buy games that I really want and I'm never ashamed of those. But back when I bought my xbox360 from a friend, I bought all his games with it and I didn't know him very well back then. Next to some games that I absolutely wanted and love, he also owned every "anime bikini girl" game in existence. I didn't know that and he just gave me all of his 360 games and when I saw what I had purchased, I knew what kind of person he was. True story.

I did that with Doom... although it wasnt its original rrp. Like yourself i found the very next day Doom had been added to gamepass. Dont get me wrong... I FREAKING LOVE GAMEPASS!!, but i wish we got prior notice on the dashboard as to whats going to gamepass (even if its only on a week to week basis).

It's a little shameful how many boxes I bought it Advanced Warfare. They had a perfect loot pool. Nothing was undesirable and the loot boxes were very consistent in good loot. 1 not so good bunch for every 3-4 bunches of good boxes, really kept you thinking about another.
Ive spent about 400$ on warframe in my time playing it. No regrets :,). But if were talking about regrets. Hmmm, probably shark cards or overwatch boxes. I quit overwatch for good during last years event. Spent 30$ hoping to get Mercy’s origin skin (where she is younger). Didnt get it. Quit at that moment.

I once thought I was buying the NFS Rivals Complete Edition (all dlcs come with the base game) since it was on sale for $20. I didn't realize I was actually buying all the dlcs in one pack and not the game itself. I got the game about a month ago, so I didn't have the game but all the dlcs for it for about 8 months. Worth the wait, fun game.
I did the same for battlefront. The dlc was free, got the game a month later for 3 bucks. Still haven't played it

I don’t do microtransactions or loot boxes, but I do have a problem with buying games that are on sale and then I never play them. I must have 20-30 games that all cost between $15-30, just waiting to be downloaded.

Rach! It's okay! Look at it this way, the games themselves don't always cost us money. But then, if you buy into the extras, it can equal (and yes, sometimes surpass) the amount you would've otherwise paid for a different game.
That's sort of how I justified paying into Gems of War on Steam, Second Life on PC, and maybe tossing a few dollars at Doctor Who Legends (I think it was called) on Mobile.
Hello here there everywhere, tsstevens here and my most shameful savage gaming purchase has to be anything from 2K Games. They know about their issues for years, games crashing and wiping everything on the system, and don't lift a finger to help. They shut their services down six months after release to force an upgrade. Their fans mock and ridicule you when you lose all that data. Their super duper deals are priced higher than new release claiming they're "special" (there's my one per list) and they exploit children. They're child exploiters, begging kids to gamble underage, begging to force their parents to pay for it and begging kids to pressure the government to let 2K get away with it. That's child abuse, we are talking about innocent children and 2K are robbing them. How can anyone let them get away with that?

Only thing I regret is spending maybe $80 on donuts in that Simpsons mobile game, learned my lesson and haven't played anything that wasn't a one time only purchase on mobile since.

Most shameful in-game purchase was when I played through all of Soul Calibur 4 to unlock all the cosmetics for the Create-a-Soul, then I purchased the DLC that unlocks all the cosmetics without having to play the game (because I thought it was going to be new stuff I couldn't unlock through gameplay!) I was so stupid back then, but now I know better.
This video just begs the question, is Jules aware of Valkyrie Drive? If he isn't, we better hide it from him. He'll disappear for weeks and we need our one per list fix!
Most shameful transaction is when I bought Monster Hunter World the other day. I played a few hours and realized that for me it was "meh" at best. The camera is garbage. My character is either slower than molasses in January or lightning fast but having a pillow fight with whatever monster I'm trying to kill. I spent $25 on a game that I'm gonna play for a few hours and never touch again
I've spent about $2k on gw2 lootboxes (black lion chests and ToT bags) and about another $1k on gold conversions and gem store items... this bill added up since the beta of the game, but it's still a lot to spend on cosmetic items.

The mobile game Love Nikki - an electronic smack addiction if ever there was one. Spending money on virtual currency for virtual clothes to put on your avatar which is the point of the whole game. I have reason to believe my marriage would be in some trouble if my husband found out how much I've dropped into it (always prioritized rent, food, and other necessities way above that tho). My credit card company flagged me because I was making so many purchases so quickly. My friends have had to delete the game entirely from their phones because they cannot control themselves. Pretty sure that's a problem o.O
