Which Cancelled Video Game Are You STILL Not Over?

- Video Games are awesome. We love it when publishers bring games to trade shows to build hype, or stories go in such a way to leave questions unanswered, pretty much confirming a sequel is coming. But not all of these games end up in our hands. Some of these hit pretty hard. #ChattyFaces.

Star Wars 1313 and Silent Hills both took parts of my soul with them...
Silent Hills took part of your soul. That's the true horror of the series.
@@slewone4905 Silent Hills was nothing special. It was just a walking corridor simulator with cheap and predictable jumpscares. Yeah because we have never seen that before. What's that got to do with Silent Hill? ZERO!
@@kevinjohn8497 What? 😂 you know nothing about how it would've actually turned out
What hurts more is that we got Death Stranding instead
@@SynthXV I know nothing about it huh? It would have turned out to be a walking corridor simulator with predictable jumpscares. Only difference with Death stranding, is that it's a walking simulator in an open world, delivering Amazon packages. Plus a first person Silent Hill? No thank you! Resident Evil 7 was ruined by being in first person. They think that first person makes it more scary or engaging, but it doesn't. I know what i'm talking about when it comes to horror games
@@kevinjohn8497 Clearly not but okay 😂 also Resi 7 was fantastic
Split second is underrated
So. Goddamn. True
Aint that the truth. I keep going back to that game over any of the new releases that are out right now
I hated it. Bought it used, returned it the same day.
I still have it on ps3 but wish it was in ps4
we deserve a squeal to split second
I can see why Jules wears a hat because if he didn’t you could see him from a mile away. lol
Nice one
Pretty sure the International Space Station can see him when he goes outside to be honest with ya @Fabled Thunder
Hearing about 1313 being cancelled hurt more that finding out my dad was surprisingly good at hide and seek.
Scalebound. one of the only games for Xbox I was excited for :P
HeroVoltsy I was really looking forward to it
oh yeah xbox needed that badly
Hopefully Nintendo will get it too the Switch.
I still want it 😭
Pelli dude same. I was waiting for it to come out just to buy a Xbox but I bought a ps4 for Spider-Man and I’m pretty happy
Split second still looks good today. Also I never finished the campaign so I didn’t even know about the cliffhanger, that makes it even more frustrating.
there were never any cliffhanger. they just said they will be back with more cars are excitement I think... it was all episodic with no plot but still best racing game ever.....

Scalebound. I've never been so disappointed over a cancelled game.
Kanzuki bring it back for Xbox next gen
It was like Microsoft decided they didn't want to sell consoles, i've always played PlayStation primarily but i've also always had an Xbox so i could play all the awesome exclusives they had, this generation though not so much, for me Scalebound was the only interesting looking game they had this generation and i would've bought an Xbox one just for that game, so of course they canned it.
based on your profile Image, I would’ve thought you were going to say Silent Hills haha, it hurts :(
Chatty faces makes my day
Star Wars 1313 still hurts.

in regards to Prey 2; I remember hearing somewhere that the end of the game was gonna be you finally getting off the station or wherever you were stuck, having a family, and dying of old age - before you're resurrected as the normal player character back on the station, whereupon I assume he'd find that room full of clones. It sounded like it was gonna be a fantastic game.
And I definitely share that Scalebound cancellation pain. I almost bought an XB1 for that alone, but decided to wait until it was out since Scalebound was the only game that was interesting to me and I didn't wanna waste the money. Ended up a good thing since it was canceled.
Prey 2
Not technically cancelled but it’s so different than what it was going to be
That was my pick.
Prey 2 was cancelled.
Prey 2017 was a reboot
@@LordFrieza848 I wouldn't even call prey 2017 a reboot. They just stole the name and made a game that shares nothing with the original.
Sometimes that's worse
I like the reboot better than the original. Sequel would have been nice though
I wake up with sharp pains at night thinking about how we're never gonna get Star Wars: 1313
We just want a Skate4
Donavan Skink Ahaha I was about to comment this
@@dubsnac7407 Same feeling I guess😄
Split Second is honestly such a good racing game. I played the shit out of the demo on 360. And to this day it still holds up. Shame we probably won't get another version of it.
What, the demo still holds up?
@@TheGauges420 Undoubtedly.
Not exaclty canceled but MGSV being released unfinished still breaks my heart.
I would say Silent Hills but hey! Atleast Death Stranding is coming instead.
So, what do you think of Death Stranding? Still haven't had the luck of playing it yet :)
Jedderee it’s trash
@@jacobdidntmakeit woah! I'm curious on your opinions if you wouldn't mind? I still haven't got around to playing it, it looks intriguing. Is it like a bad narrative or are there other aspects?
Death Stranding is so fucking good.

Daredevil Season 4. Yeah I know it's not a game but I'm still reeling from the tragic news. 😭
Wait. Wut.
Did daredevil get the axe too? Like Luke cage and iron fist.
@@tGAngeL__ yup its confirmed

@@tGAngeL__ probably because Disney streaming Service. Dont know why Punisher and Jessica Jones got renewed.
Daredevil was the best of the bunch.
Would have liked at least one final Season.
I will never not be hurt by Megaman Legends 3 sudden cancellation. It was such a huge part of my childhood, and the second game ended on such a cliffhanger and when the 3 game was finally announced I was beyond excited. Then, it was suddenly canceled and Keji was out and Might No. 9 happened and so much disappointment.
All telltale games especially the wolf among us 2
Same, I was hyped for the wolf among us 2 and stranger things ;-;
Well at least you can just read Fables
*Telltale wont remember this
Oh no..I'd forgotten about _Wolf Among Us 2_ *:(*
What do you mean why are they cancelled
I once read about a game in a game informer (when those were relevant) and it was a open world zombie game. Basically this company was gonna team up with Google earth and use location settings so you spawned at the house you were playing from. Then you could travel everywhere and try to survive and meet people. And I never heard about it again and that to this day still bums me out.
It's a shame what happened to Split/Second because it was actually quite unique and interesting. Glad I was able to find a copy a few years ago.

Dead island 2 is dead island riptide but yeah I agree
@@realturtle1355 no they actually had dead island 2 at E3 in like 2014 I think. Riptide was a spin-off. They actually had a sequel and now it's canned.
Ultimate Alliance 3 is on the way, man. Nintendo pulled what they did with Bayonetta and bought the rights, so it'll be a Switch exclusive, but it's coming :)

5:52 - 6:04 was the *best* part of this video. Nearly died laughing at that bit.
Someone finally mentioned Prey 2. Thank you! A man of culture.
The 2 game/ franchise that got cancelled that hit me hard:
2. Silent Hills PT: Started with such a simple layout that gradually grew darker. Added in a weird alien fetus & a zombified character, Lisa, that due to an audio glitch, made for the one effective jumpscare in existence. Then they teased that Norman Reedus was sposed to be in this Guierllmo Del Toro game but then it got cancelled & the teaser was permanently removed from the stores & once you got done with whatever playthrough you were on, you couldnt play it again to add salt to the wound.
1) Batman the Telltale Series: This franchise is in the top 3 choice based narrative game franchises for me ( alongside of LiS & Stanley Parable [ kinda counts]. Anyhow, in it you played as both Bruce Wayne & Batman ( voiced by Troy Baker) depending on the situation ( sometimes you chose how you approach things & sometimes the game chose for you). The first season offered new perspectives to already established characters including: Thomas Wayne, Oswald Cobblepot, Falcone, Joker, Mayor Hill, Harvey Dent & Vicki Vale. While the story was set on determining whether the sins of the father are meant to pass on to the son & due to that, Bruce’s world was collapsing around him with his only anchors being Alfred, Lucius & Catwoman ( voiced by Laura Bailey; which should be noted that she has great chemistry with Troy Baker).
Then Season 2: the Enemy Within, comes along & a version of Riddler ( which feels more like a mix between practically every character to be given the Jigsaw mantle in the Saw franchise mixed with the Riddler) starts wreaking havoc & leads to the death of a major character & his legacy; Batman finds out this is just the beginning as he ends up becoming a mole for Amanda Waller ( who is a government agency leader) within a group that eventually become Telltale’s Suicide Squad. This group, which calls itself the Pact, is made up of: Riddler, Bane, Joker, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze ( & after the death of one of them, Catwoman steps in as a freelancer). Other things this season’s plot leads to: either a/ multiple new sidekick(s), Joker’s path being chosen by you & a plot by a secret Agency group involving a deadly virus leading to a possible outbreak from multiple virus infused explosives being detonated.
Given that some of the S1 characters were obvious candidates for the Court of Owls & the cliffhangers seen at the end of S2, it wouldve been nice if there was a contingency plan to continue releasing installments put in place when they first realized they could go under, but unfortunately, thats not the case & we’ll never know what couldve been for this great franchise.
1:28 Shine bright like a diamond~💎
As a massive fan of the Fables graphic novels and the amazing Wolf Among Us I was so heart broken when TellTale closed up shop cancelling its sequel!
Not only did we have to wait 4 years! for any sign of the sequel being made (largely because they kept pumping out their Walking Dead series and buying every series they could get their hands on) but when we finally get an announcement in 2017 they promptly cancel it when the company went Bankrupt and no one bought the rights!
One day we will hopefully again visit Fable town again
Loved the Legacy of Kaine series (And Soul Reaver)
Split second-an old school friend worked on it at blackrock in Brighton. Disney started culling after the financial meltdown in 2008 and subsequent recession. Blackrock was a casualty of that and thus split/second 2. The dude I know and some of his newly redundant colleagues went on to form ‘shortround games’. They seem to have made some racing titles, maybe you’ll find some of the old split/second magic over there.
Megaman Legends 3. Still stuck on that damn moon.
Megaman Legends 3. With all the effort the fans had contributed in making it. It's not like any other cancelled game where you passively wait after announcement or throw money to a kickstarter campaign. Imagine participating in "making" the game with a big developer and having a hand at it's building with fans sending in character arts, enemy concepts, voting contests, etc.
Battlefront 3 from 2008. It was so close to being done and only needed QA and bugtesting. It would have been leagues better than the soulless BF EA game made in 2015.
Totally agree.
Jules looks so professional without his hat, he looks like a good dad 😂😂
The Crono Trigger fan remake that got the stop you don't own then treatment.
I have two, both Bioware-related...although one only tangentially:
1: Dragon Age II's original final DLC, Exalted Marches, which detailed the events between the ending of DA II and the opening moments of DA: Inquisition, and...
2: Knights of the Old Republic: the Apeiron Project, a fan-led remaster of the original KOTOR in Unreal Engine 3, taken out back and shot in the back of the skull by Disney's legal department (against their better interests, no less).
Wolf among us season 2
Star Wars 1313 was a more recent cancellation, but yea that's still pissed everyone off..
Lord of the Rings: The White Council
Fear Effect Inferno. To watch the prophecy play out from the first game would have been incredible. Fear Effect's presentation and characters were so ahead of their time.
Silent Hill , star wars 1313 and MegaMan legends 2
I'd say Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2. It wasn't officially announced, but there were many loose threads. or Fez 2
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows 2......
Would've been awesome
For me a third installment of the High Moon Studio’s War/Fall of Cybertron game series would have been awesome. But losing the NCAA Football games from EA was an absolute gut punch especially since I live in the US South.
I feel old now. My first thought was Starcraft: Ghost.
I had it preordered at one time.
Chromehounds 2. The original was one of my most played games and I was so sad to see it go.
Excuse me Josh?! Have you played Alien: Isolation? That’s a mandatory purchase if your are a huge Alien fan as you say.
Lucasarts: We are cancelling our sequels to great games. Just cancel everything

Blur 2 and another Burnout similar to paradise
Star Wars 1313 was cancelled twice in a way. Visceral's Star Wars game sounded like it was picking up where 1313 left off. Add the fact that Amy Henig, a lead Uncharted developer, was involved with it, it was probably going to be very similar to 1313.
Half life 3
Star Wars 1313 and Sleeping Dogs 2... Broke my ginger heart
Going back a few years...I would love to see Dark Cloud 3
Starcraft Ghost. What was being said and shown about that game sounded amazing. Like a MGS in the Starcraft universe.
There were 2 games that I LOVED from back in the day, that were set up to have sequels, that never happened. Does ANYBODY remember and love:
1) Nightshade (NES)
2)Gladius (Xbox, PS2, GameCube)
???
It was so long ago, and I'm still bitter to this day over no sequels.
Silent Hills. A collaboration between Kojima, Del Toro, and possibly, Junji Ito. A dream team of auteur creators all tossed away by a selfish and greedy corporation who refused to see the bigger picture.
OK but seriously, you guys pointed most of them out with the star wars games (RIP Battlefront you sweet prince) and with Silent Hills but one other one for me is Banjo Threeie, now if I remember correctly I don't know if rareware ever confirmed that this game was going to happen or if they were working on it but they hinted at it at the end of the second game and so as a child when I FINALLY got to the end of banjo tooie (God did that take forever) I was excited to see that another game was going to come out...and then it never did and I eventually just got sadder and sadder as the years went by and then when they announced Nuts and bolts on 360 I swear I popped a blood vessel, even gave it a fair chance and still just couldn't get any fun out of it. Another one I can sort of think of is Sly Cooper 5, I'm not sure if there was ever any plan to make this game but the way the fourth game ended on a cliffhanger and the fact that if you beat the game 100% you get a short cutscene hinting at a future game made me think there had to be one and then Sanzaru games is just like "nope not happening" so now the whole story for that series is just up in the air because no one wants to make a 5th game, and it bothers me to no end.
5:50 I love the slight cross-eye there XD
Split second was one of the best random buys I've ever done. Such a good game!
When the dude mentioned Nosgoth, i was like.. why does that sound familiar?
I forgot: i beta tested that game lmao
Metal of honor: rising sun 2, the end to the first one was just such a cliffhanger
Actually, I lament the cancellation of,
1)The original Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid Rising. Which later was turned to Metal Gear Rising Revengeance 🤮 by Platinum Games.
2)The original Ghost Recon Future Soldier which got changed much to a different less flamboyant game.
3)Rainbow Six Patriots. Need more R6 singleplayer games.
4)Team Bondi's(L.A.Noire devs) next game was "Whore of the Orient". The gameplay and setting were pretty cool and unique. Pretty sure its cancelled now.
Amy Henning (possible typo) did not created Legacy Of Kain, she directed Soul Reaver 1,2 and Defiance
I can't even remember the title, but it was supposed to be a launch game with the wii u, it was the one with giant customizable robots that you fought each other with
Scott Taliford..... I feel ya bro, LOK was my jam, I go all the way back to Blood Omen 1 on PS1
Half-Life 3, showing my age here. And yes, there are still rumors, I'll believe it when I hold the game in my damned hands.
Starcraft Ghost. I remember reading about that game in gaming magazines of the time and being hyped af for it. I will never get over that game.
I don't think anyone's really commented this so far but these interviews with the whatculture team are awesome and I really enjoy listening to them. I don't always agree with them but I like hearing the opinions nonetheless and it shows how genuinely passionate they are about games. Also - Republic Commando 2. Not as big as some others but really glad it got a shout out here. I would happy pay £150 for a decent sequel to such a brilliant game. Not flashy, didn't try to do too much but it was everything Aliens: Colonial Marines should have been and still received only half the attention.
The newest Midnight Clubs that were never released. Castlevania Symphony of the Night 2, Blood Omen 3, the next Army of Two game, etc.
Got two of the three games I am still stuck over; Silent Hills and a decent Legacy of Kain finale. I also am pissed they cancelled the sequel to Eternal Darkness.
The new Kain game looked bloody good and near done!
@@Emma-kz3zr They owe us at least an animated movie if they don't want to do a game.
Half Life 3
The other cool thing about the cancelled Prey 2 was that the ending would have seen you escape back to earth and live a happy life, grow old with your significant other and die and old man, only to wake up back on the alien world in a clone pod, trapping you in an infinite cycle of death and rebirth
