I have met so many women who paid the ultimate consequence from a lying cheat. Of course it goes both ways because there are women who will do that to men also. Yep, focused on my grandkids. I'm 67 and have not had any sexual encounters since 2007 (ex was impotent which worked for me) and don't plan to and I'm completely happy with my decision. Ive only had sex with one man during my entire life and he is now an ex. Just not worth it and I don't trust anyone with my body. I've always felt that sex was overrated or either the ex had no idea of what he was doing. Didn't do much for my soul. I'd prefer to go outside and garden.

I'll give grace to children and adolescents but even then children need to be taught about their bodies, how to protect their bodies, but the older folks have issues with talking about sex and relationships. People still lie and become tight lipped with their children.
It is one thing to know it is a thing and another to know the details. Then there are people with the "it's them and not me" syndrome. Also, STD is heard more than STI. Even here, the question was more about STD than STI after they told us the difference between the two. This information needs to be retold.

I just heard of a recent case where a female condo owner lost her lawsuit against the HOA who had fined her $100 per day because she refused to remove her camera doorbell. She lived alone and had been a victim of a violent crime. Now she has to pay the HOA $73,000.
i was going to say the samething about HOA's. you do not want anyone telling you waht you can or cannot do to your own property. my attitude is, if you don't want to bothered with maintance and etc. of a property, you're better off renting. condo's are about the only thing where i can see where there is a need for a HOA. which would be good for really old people (i'm 60 and in good health). with HOA's not only don't you have to worry about your monthly fees, but those "special" fees that come up. like replacing roofs, adding gardens, etc. OMFG. i think of the "wizard of oz", lions, tigers and bears, oh my.

I feel like more straight individuals need to be more informed about prep, it’s like it’s not understood it’s not just for the gay community. Everyone needs to understand trust no one and take care of yourself, and it’s perfectly ok, nothing to be ashamed of, you should be ashamed if you’re not.

Great advice - currently my godmother is in hospital suffering from a a stroke and a diabetic because she's afraid of doctors at the age of 76 never taken any medication. I used to work in HIV prevention as an educator and counselor. From my experience, despite many conversations and advocacy efforts, gay and bisexual men often do not like to use condoms, and cisgender women frequently do not ask their male partners to use them either. I also noticed that younger generations, particularly Generation Z, do not worry about HIV as much as previous generations. They often believe that if they contract HIV, they can simply manage it with medication or do not engage with healthcare at all in some cases. Today, people engage in unprotected sex without precautions, especially in the Black community, where there are continued higher rates of out-of-wedlock births, STDs, STIs, and the re-emergence of syphilis and HIV/AIDS. I am not here to judge anyone's decisions, but it is a growing trend among the community.
Condoms are a must in every sexual encounter. I've been single and celibate for several years, raising my child alone. I'm not looking or interested in anyone. I've learned a lot over the years and it's not worth it. Ladies should insist on condoms, and if the man refuses, get dressed and say boy bye. That's what I tell my child.

I am Mary Poppins compared to most of the people I know. I haven’t had sex in almost 10 years and I plan on keeping it that way. We can get PrEP for free at some community clinics in South Africa, so it breaks my heart hearing of new HIV infections in 2024. I am also on PrEP, and take the pill daily. Took my hepatitis B vaccine shots last year. Only had 1 encounter in 2024 and that was safe sex.

I googled what can I do after unprotected intercourse and that came out. I’m glad I tested negative 6 months later! I found out the guy was sleeping with many many women! It was at least over 200 . He asked me to be his woman I said nope!! That is a dangerous person

There are too many people in this comment section that are misinformed. It’s not about where you live or how many partners you have. Having that mindset can get you caught up. There are married people giving HIV to their spouses all over his country and world. Never thumb your nose at other people thinking you’re in a better situation. And on that political note, what about real ID's? Real ID's are supposed to be the ID that every citizen in the USA needs to have in order to travel between states (I heard) and enter federal buildings. I read about allowing people to go into federal buildings if they have those ID's. Why isn't this more than a news article if they want us to have those so bad? 2020 should have been the year this was established, but now you have until October of this year (2024) to comply to this extra security measure.

I’m confused as to why it’s so hard to use a condom and ask your partner to get tested. I know condoms aren’t 100% safe but just to randomly have unprotected sexual encounters with random people is not just irresponsible it’s fking stupid. Sexual health and STI information has been around for decades and I’m trying to understand to have compassion for those who are suffering but with the kind of information we have today my mind can’t comprehend how people can just take those kinds of risks with their lives and the lives of others. I’m just bewildered.

Louisiana is just as bad, if not worse, when I move in this town, I'm not mentioning the name, but I was told not to mess with no one, because almost everybody has HIV and aids... you have most people from Louisiana move to Atlanta and Houston, but with all the preventative medications out here, like you said, no one should be HIV positive
I lived in small town Louisiana (all I’m going to say it was a town off I-55) and the STD rate was high. Everybody messed with everybody. 🤮
