Nothing puts me more in the mood to write than watching the life of a writer. Thanks for making this video.
Dear Ms. Harrison, I love your video! I am twelve years old and am in sixth grade. I am a writer too. You inspire me to pursue a career as a writer when I graduate college one day. I struggle with dyslexia, but I believe that my passion for literature will help me overcome this obstacle. Thank you for being such a great role model.
Hi Samantha - thanks for your lovely comment. I will pass on your thoughts to Kate as I'm sure she will be really touched.
Hi Samantha, what a great message to read - and how exciting to read about your writing ambitions. I wish you the very best of luck - the brilliant thing about writing is you can start right now, and I know many extremely talented writers with dyslexia who have achieved wonderful things. Take care and keep writing!

Thank you for sharing this video! I live in New York and I like to write too.
Ever since I was a little girl I've been writing stories. I've been working on my book for awhile and I feel like I'm almost at a point to start querying to agents. Thank you for being an inspiration :)
she's great. she makes writing seem so encouraging. what a nice lady!
As a writer myself, I agree with everything she said. Some of these are lessons only experience can teach
Dear Ms. Harrison I like how you express yourself throughout the video. I am 21 years old and I write as well. With what you have said about getting lost thinking that you can't do what you have already written again, I do feel like that. Thank you for allowing me to know it's okay.
I like your comment, 'It'll get you to a novel sooner or later,' regarding how many words you can manage to write in a day. Sometimes, I can only manage a few hundred a day due to work.
This video just made my day. What an inspiration. Thanks
A no-holding-back sharing. Thanks for the generosity.
It's nice to see that someone is doing well in the career that I'm looking forward to start in. regardless on what type of genre or story they are writing, it's good to see how they push through every single challenge even though they have the ultimate creative freedom. pleasure to watch such a motivated video :)
I hope that one day I'll be just like her. This video makes me happy. Thank you :-)
I love the passion in your eyes when you talk about writing :) I hope I do look the same
Love this video! Not only gave insight on the writer, but also made me feel like I was in London for a minute.
She's in Brighton - not London
I am so much into this video .am going to follow this rules to continue my writings on campus.
Love this. Thank you Kate!
The life of a writer......would be a dream come true for me!!!
I think writers tend to be more of the intellectuals among us.
The author is sus
Thanks for your post.
Listened to the audiobook by S. King, 'On Writing'. It's about the life and work of a writer.
He narrated it and that added to the affect. Recommended.
Excellent film and I love the line 'When it's going well it's the best feeling in the world and when it's not it's torture.
Thank you for producing this video, very wonderful and uplifting piece. Gives perspective and help into a writing life and makes it seem More doable and human. Also shows how it’s not a mysterious or magical process or a snobby ivory tower. It’s just people doing work. It’s easier if you approach writing as simply work.
OMG! i love this!! Thank you very much!!! I will remember you.
I love this video. I love it so much and it inspire me.
Thank you ~ from the bottom of my heart!!!

Ms Harrison, thanks for the video..very great information. At @7:17, what type of writing software are you typing in? Thanks again :)
I have to write a story ASAP
plz what is music in the end ?
What happened to The Last Gift? Was it ever published?
What typewriter was that? I just bought a clean working Remington Quiet-Riter. I'm very happy with it. I need to use it more often.
It's an an early fifties manual Olympia SM-3 the same one Woody Allen has written all his scripts on to date. It's really a studio prop we use but it works perfectly and is quite small and portable. Tom Hanks also still replies to all his fans on a type writer.
Can you update
With 1,000 words a day, I could write a small novel in 2 months
Don't forget that's just the first draft! Every book you see is re-written multiple times, then goes through several rounds of editing. The publishing process alone can take a year.
Wait, she's friends with Suzan Collins?
I need to retrieve a copy of my book ; cosmic creative energy, from kindle, and submit it to CreateSpace"

I am just wondering what kind of writing software she is using?
I think it looked like Microsoft Word.
It is actually just Word. She just uses the correction thingy that makes those weird marks on the side. All the teachers at my school uses it when we deliver assignments. However she have turned the marks to the left side, witch i have never seen before.
Haha, the journalist part sounds just like me. I have studied three years of journalism, but I found that writhing about real life from an objective point of view is very little rewarding. However Im starting at a writhing academy in Norway this fall, so hoping that will be better.
and shes not even touch typing! wow
Thanks for sharing wonderful video.
You are born to write; Kate Harrison,
A Pen Life
Born to write not an easy life
But I am must try.
Day and night, every time I write,
My pen crosses the paper,
I find a new word.
Born to write;
sometimes a tear drops from my eyes,
While I write.
And then each word written,
I begin to cry.
Born to write;
that which is my life from the beginning.
I start to think and begin a new thought.
Then I try to write at anytime,
anywhere, about anything.
There’s no limit,
Until the time I quit to submit my writing.
Born to write I try to get the words down.
The more I write, the prouder I become;
But at other times I can’t find the word.
Stop there, I am to try again.

2:25 Psychology.
1:58 word count at least 1000 words
When people talk about hitting a certain amount of words a day, i think of that famous quote by Truman Capote, “That's not writing, that's typing.”
5:02 don´t give up your day job
Writers take writing too seriously ,I Understood that.
So she writes junks.
Well, this was useless.
Haha, what exactly did you expect her to say?
I actually took notes in this video. I found it very useful not just in an inspiring way but practically it has some very good tips and tricks there
