I'd agree with your weapon customization take if it was a design decision. But it's not. GW intervened and blocked the feature because it "wasn't lore accurate" the same way the intervened in the Rogue Trader RPG to block the Romance option for the Sister of battle.
Ah, yes, because two Veterans, a Psyker, and a Zealot could TOTALLY take on a Plague Ogryn in the lore. Actually, hell, with the direct presence of the Nurgle infestation and just plague and shit all over, and things like respirators only being cosmetics (and not even a default one), I think from a lore perspective, pretty much everyone in-game should be a Poxwalker themselves. Because isn't it like a whole thing with like the Death Guard and other things corrupted by Nurgle that they emit a plague so virulent and contagious it can spread to people miles away? I say fuck it man, if the Rejects can go into a Hive City that's this damn overrun by the Chaos God of decay and disease without catching so much as a common cold, surely they can scrounge up or buy scavenged sights and flashlights and such to put on their wargear. I see your argument for weapon customization. But wouldn't this argument also work for weapon FOV? the bulkyness of a weapon is also a balancing point. At this point I wouldn't play this game without weapon customization. I don't find it fun to try to figure out where the hell my weapon is pointing due to absolute shit iron sights. I use spidey sense and the spawn notification, but to me those mods are much closer to the cheating line than weapon customization. Spidey sense shows were snipers are, snipers don't normally make any noise. It also shows the exact direction of where a special is, where noise wouldn't give you that.
Viewmodel fov is not a tryhard thing- any gamedev that doesn't allow viewmodel (and god forbid base) fov adjustments is genuinely out of their mind and I am going to implement it myself if settings won't let me. I am so tired of shooters that put my gun 2 inches from my face and block 50% of my screen

I put Kantrael sights on every gun, even plasma gun (it makes everything worse but it's very fun), our autisms differ. Also flashlights on everything. i dont like the spidey sense, it would clutter my screen, but i am a shit casul player Great mod list and explanation
You can use the For the Drip mod to disable your arms if you want a little more visibility. I don't find it necessary, but it's an option for those who want to fully optimize their gameplay. Probably give you 1 more fps too.

All my years of playing TF2 with hidden view models has made playing a lot of FPS games way more annoying like you say. You never realize how much view models effect you till you minimize / reduce them yourself.

The weapon customization thing isn’t really finished from my perspective as a software engineer. If they limited the configuration of the assets to those that “make sense” as far as visuals go you’d have like 3-4 assets in each pool. There are like 3 dot sights in the game. I don’t think it’s actually ready based on how buggy that mod is. Not disagreeing with you on your perspective on balance tho.
Could that not be accomplished fairly easy. And only exists as is for delvopment pourposes since it isnt planning on being released i imagine you could make a tag for each part and just restrict the part pool to accepted tags per weapon.
Damn, these videos really speak to my autism. Your explanations all make sense and validate why you use certain mods. The only points of contention I have is the Scoreboard and Weapon Customization. Scoreboard is simply because I don't know if it is showing the same info across other teammates also using it, ie, not showing the correct information to almost anyone. Granted this is due to a Monster Hunter Scoreboard mod some friends used in Rise: Sunbreak running into this issue, and I don't know if it is the same case in Darktide. Weapon Customization wise, would it be perfectly fine if flashlights (or lack thereof) and sights couldn't be changed?
It's okay to make promises for a game, but if devs can't make that promise happen, they shouldn't make that promise to begin with, especially since it's a product you charge money for.

7:01 fully support this one just on the fact for some folk it can make a game disability accessible and help folk avoid issues. Shoudl be an option in EVERY game. Hell quite a lot of these mods are amazing disability options that should just be standard in games. 12:11 makes the accessible to deaf people, holy shit that is so good.16:40 i hate this way of balancing guns by making them crap but then i grew up with Unreal Tournements hitscan sniper rifle you could hip fire super accurate so yeah haha. Sorry starting another comment haha. 21:34 fucking hit the nail on the head with your NMS comments. That game was perfect at launch for what it set out to do. It was aimed at a particualr type of space nerd (like myself) that wanted pure exploration. The game was supposed to be about being isolated in a huge play area where exploration and discovery was the key gameplay loops. Instead of sticking to the vision they kinda kaffled after release and ended up making your standard survival in space game which isn't bad but in has none of the gameplay for it. A great example of NMS current gameplay loop done well is Empyrean Galactic Survival. It doens't have the polish but it is just better. You have more to do, it s a more granular detailed space survival game.
As someone who enjoys sweaty tactical shooters and irl recreational shootings, balance by ADS is really just a video game invention and I fucking hate it. The way video game handles iron sights makes aperture sights objectively worse than open sights, while irl it's pretty much the opposite way around irl because open sights are such bitches to line up, and peripheral vision is never an issue if you shoot with both eyes open. Even more so with collimator sights, irl the size of the sight's housing doesn't matter at all, because your brain automatically filters out the housing if you use both eyes. While in video games everyone is a fucking cyclops and the best collimator sights are those garbages with the thinnest possible frames.

Somewhat related to the scoreboard. If im looking to improve what stats should I be looking at? I assume high damage done and low damage taken but I dont really have a reference point of what numbers im looking for.
Damage taken, damage dealt, boss damage, specials/elites/disablers killed are all easy metrics to judge your own performance. Just aim to be the best in each mission you play, you can gather that data and set a goal for yourself.

Windows will then give you the option to replace the files. That's what I do. You could also delete the mod and then re-download like it was the first time.

Yes it is game similar to WoW or Hellgate: London or any other dungeon looter, and we are free to use addon to see them. If the developer wanted they could implement anticheat that would issue warnings or deleted your mod folder or something, but they said go ahead.
