@@1KQ_ Agreed- Although I think most people remember it as a rare time Lesnar was made to look weak in a match, even if he ultimately won- Strowman table-slamming him twice and then pushing a third on top of him was definitely a peak point, and probably one of the most memorable moments in the last few years.
Did you guys know that according to Dave meltzer Britt baker vs thunder rosa is just as good as undertaker vs Shawn michaels at WM 25?? Can’t believe some people give credibility to this guy

Taker vs Shawn WM25 is absolutely goated.
While some of Meltzer’s ratings are off imo (taker v HKB easily 5 stars) reading his ratings the other day did put me on Walter v Dragunov. And holy shit them matches are something else. Didn’t even feel like wrestling felt like a street fight in a wrestling ring, some of the slaps and spots in them matches are incredible

I've been wanting to send in a quiz like this for awhile, glad someone else did it. Haven't watched the video yet, but was happy to see the video and wanted to comment beforehand.
I mean, Roman vs HHH was also a clusterfuck of a match. Almost a half hour without anything happening other than Stephanie going through a table (I think) and nobody in the crowd wanted Roman to win and he got booed out of the building. I don’t know how Meltzer rated it that high.
I mean it wasn’t a terrible match if we look at it from a wrestling standpoint. You gotta look at it as a match, not just take how the crowd felt about it

Just so you guys know, a lot of people including wrestling historians like Jim Cornette think Dave is wrong about all of his reviews of what good wrestling is.
Firstly, Corny is an idiot! Secondly, I may not like Meltzer either(Though it is LEAPS AND BOUNDS more than I like Corny!) but you can't be WRONG about an OPINION! Meltzer likes what he likes, Corny likes... well, few people give a shit what he thinks(though there are STILL too many that do), I like what I like, and finally YOU like what you like! We all might like some of the same things but we also have TONS AND TONS of matches that we think were awesome that the others probably thought was trash!
So with your logic they would think taker vs. Shawn was a bad match and melina vs Alicia fox was an all time classic

I don't trust Jim Cornette on anything, he's a racist, sexist and transphobic man who has wished death on many wrestlers and backstage talent. His opinion shouldn't matter.
Cornette will never like new wrestling because he can't accept things have changed. He isn't wrong about a lot of things, but he isn't right about everything either.
That being said, a lot of people don't understand Meltzer's rating system or the fact that he has always said it's his opinion and based on what he enjoys. Like any other critic.
He rates a match on everything. The build up, the crowd reaction, the atmosphere, etc. The issue tends to be that he also rates on whether or not the match its self lives up to the hype and expectations. Which is why he always rated Hogan low. Hogan was all hype, no substance.

The rating includes build up and overall atmosphere so like the CM Punk MITB one had a massive draw compared to Taker V Shawn. Even their WM 26 rematch had a 4.75 rating too

@@sticketer He hasn’t done it yet but Dave Meltzer is expected to give it a very high star rating, possibly even 5 stars. He commented on Twitter after the match claiming it was “among the most compelling matches in pro wrestling history”

Definitely helped me that I know all the WWE five-star plus matches for this quiz. Think I only missed three, but I wasn't keeping track too carefully on this one. Very funny that most of the WCW matches on here were the ones that got negative stars, though.
I would like to see y’all for the podcast, watch old pay per views and talk about them. Like thoughts about the matches, the things going on in the company, and like y’all’s experiences as a child when these pay per views came out.

This was the hardest to guess the correct star rating
While I think Dave’s ratings need to be taken with a lot of salt in mind, his rating system isn’t exactly Anti-Hogan, more as anti-American Wrestling.
Dave is a self-admitted Japanese and Mexican Wrestling fan. He was known for being so in the 80’s/90’s as well.
Dave would very much appreciate Hulk vs Stan Hansen from 81 in New Japan or vs Genichiro Tenryu from 91 for two great examples.
Wrestling fans from say Japan, Canada, Mexico, and the UK aren’t gonna love you for personality alone, Hulk knew that. So he ACTUALLY tried in Japan, and had some good matches.
Just my two cents, love the Mustache Bros. 💯
He has a huge bias against HBK too because Shawn saw him as a joke.

A lot of people know match ratings but you would really have to think about each match individually to think about the difference of stars between the matches. Much love as always. I'm back, time to guess Meltzer stars!! I have no idea how good I'll be at this, but I feel like it depends on what companies are used, especially since Meltzer seems to rate certain styles above others (ex: AEW tends to be ~4-5*, WWE is ~2.5-4.5, Stardom is often ~3.5-4.5, etc). Anyways, spoilers below:
1) RIP I'm not that familiar with Rock vs Austin, but I'm gonna go Rollins vs Miz because Rollins was absolute mint in 2018. For a star rating, I'll guess 4.25*. (LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO, 2 points)
2) Goddamn, I'm pretty sure these were both at least 4.5. I don't think WWE has gotten many 4.75s, so I'm gonna go for the AEW match at 4.75*. (Damn had it the wrong way around, I knew one was 4.5 the other 4.75, still at 2 points)
3) Yikes this is gonna be low. Both matches sound dreadful, unless you're ex-WWE superstar Cameron. Gonna go for the divas match at 0.5*. (SO CLOSE!!! 3 points)
4) Damn both of these were all time classics for their respective promotions. Should both be at least 4.5 for both, I'm just not sure if the TNA one hit 5. I'm gonna guess TNA at 4.75*, though I can easily see it being 5. (Damn I had 5 and switched to 4.75, 4 points now)
5) I know this one!! Punk vs Cena, 5 stars. (Yay 6 points)
6) I know Dave Meltzer liked the old cruiserweight division, but idk how much. Pretty sure Savage vs Steamboat is 4.5, can't imagine Rey vs Eddie is any lower, so I'll guess that one at 4.75*. (NAILED IT!! 8 points)
7) I'm pretty sure Gargano vs Ciampa was 5*, but I forget. Don't think Punk vs Eddie was 5*, but both were great stories. I'll guess WWE at 5*. (I'm on a roll!! 10 points)
8) This is my first one I have no idea about. I'm gonna guess Hogan vs Warrior at 1.75* but I'm not confident at all. (WOW!! Ok I thought pre-TNA Lashley sucked, I guess not!! 10 points)
9) Also have no idea, but this one has to be Banks vs Bailey, right? I'll go WWE at 4.25*. (Why am I so fucking good at this, 12 points)
10) These both sound middle-of the pack, around 2.5ish. I'm gonna say Cena vs Truth at 3, though it could honestly be either. (Damn ok, 13 points)
11) I THINK I know this one. Gargano vs Cole was the highest in WWE history, right? I know the AEW one is 5*, but I'm gonna guess WWE for 5.5*. (So close!! 14 points)
12) I remember looking at some Meltzer reviews yesterday actually (I wanted to see what he said about Cody in HIAC), and I remember Rousey vs Flair got 2 stars. I can't image the Taker match was any better, so I'm gonna say Rousey vs Charlotte at 2. (Ok I knew that one... 16 points)
13) Damn I seriously have no idea. I'd inagine both are somewhere in the 4-4.5* ballpark, I'm gonna say Aries vs Roode at 4.5 but I'm really not sure (HOLY FUCK 18 points)
14) Ooh this could be either of them, though I can't imagine Dave loved ruthless agression Taker, and attitude era Shane was probably good. I'll go Show vs Shane at 3.5*. (Wow lower than I thought, 19 points)
15) Ooh a couple of stinkers!! Can't imagine Sting having a match worse than HHH vs Roman (at peak Roman hate), so I'll say Hogan vs Sting at 1*, though there could easily be a dud here. (WOWWW 19 points it is)

I don't keep score. I can't believe there has ever been one WWE match he ranked higher than an AEW match,never mind that many. Also I'm shocked he ranked an Undertaker HHH match that low?
early aj styles especially for the x division title is some of the best wrestling out there, early tna was great
the reason michaels v taker wasn't 5 stars was because of undertaker nearly dying on the dive. meltzer said that it took him out of the match for a while

as someone who is and alwayds will be so much more into AEW, TNA and NJPW than WWE, I still to this day do not understand why Taker vs HBK did not get five stars. And, honestly, I think BOTH their matches should've gotten five stars. I actually even prefer the second one and consider it the best Mania match of all time just because of the emotional stakes involved. Punk vs Cena definitely deserves five stars but I think Taker vs HBK 1 and 2 are both better.

It’s not that Dave just hates Hogan. It’s just that Hogan really didn’t have that many great matches. He’s name really was that good that it masked how bad a lot of his matches were.

You guys didn’t know CM Punk vs John Cena MITB 2011 is considered arguably best WWE match in a long time. Now up against Taker vs Michaels vs Mania 25 which is also considered arguably the greatest, I’m unsure what most would say.
