2021 GMC Sierra Multipro tailgate Not working

My brand new 2021 GMC Sierra with the Duramax engine has the Multipro Tailgate with 9 functions. But the Multipro function of the tailgate will not work. I have taken it back to the dealer, and it worked just fine. Two days later it went right back to this.

The top portion of the Multipro tailgate has a lockout feature to prevent it from opening and most likely that is what your issue is. Take the key with you to the back of the truck (like you were in the video) and push and hold that top button until the taillights flash (around 5 seconds or more of holding). Looks like you held it down but not long enough. Repeat the same process to re-lock it once it unlocks. Let us know if that helps.

I have a 2021 GMC and I think this helped. However, when I tried to hold the top button down for 5 seconds it opened up.

@@DP-kr9lx this also happens to me. It probably needs to have the switch replaced GM has ordered a 3rd replacement switch for my MultiPro tailgate. It’s irritating

Same problem on My 2023 sierra although I did the same thing that you were doing however what I did notice I disable my rear sensor and turn it on waiting for 5 min or 3 it worked for me it opens the multi-function gate

These trucks are known for bad tailgate switches mine's been through two of them on on a 2021 GMC Denali 2500

That's what happened with my tailgate same problem, but my tailgate stop working after snow and freezing outside. Need go to the dealership to fix.
