- The Silhouettes are a Shadows Tribute Band playing all of The Shadows famous hits from the 60's and more. This footage was recorded at a recent concert on Ipswich Waterfront as part of the Summertime Ipswich Festival, featuring Gary Nunn on Lead Guitar, Paul Gardner on Rythmn Guitar, Pete Riches on Bass and Sandy Sutherland on Drums. Hi guys, Don here from Hamilton NZ on my Wife's tablet, I'm a guitarist (50+year's) and played a lot of Shad's tunes an' just gotta say that was great ( with the "steps" to) Iv'e Subscribed to so keep it up, take care the lot of you, you All deserve the credit too,it takes hours of practice and rehearsal ( l speak from experience) Well done again

Welch strums twice as fast and one can tell the difference straight away...
Welch is the king of rhythm guitar, and I agree totally. Not many would be able to match his playing on 'The Savage.'

They use a click track with the strings on but all guitars and drums are live. Very good sound man that day.
Sequencing, a click track go's on the left channel of the backing track witch go's to the drummers earphones for him to keep in time with the backing track strings. The right channel witch has just the strings on it go's to the PA front house and monitor speakers and the musos follow the drummer. The only drawback is the poor drummer has to listen to the click track clicking in his ears all night.

Sounds good, but who were playing the strings?
That’s the first thing I thought. The shadows owe a lot to the backing on many of their productions, without it they would sound very mediocre. In my eyes, groups like this loose a lot of credibility when backing tracks are used.
