    quote on page at 3:34 'when monsters are created they're signs of spiritual death... when a hero's crush monsters, they signal spiritual rebirth' that's a very interesting concept but could anyone break that down a little further for me, I don't think I have grasped the exact meaning of this.

    • @phil7095
      @phil7095 Před 2 lety

      spiritual death might be something akin to a rejection/lack of awareness or even just being too comfortable. The king was distracted by his own personal gain he didn't realize the monsters that sprung up. When you crush the monsters you "open your eyes" and take care of business.

    • @technodean6793
      @technodean6793 Před 2 lety

      @@phil7095 ah so the monsters will come about with the 'internal' issue, of the hero and when he/she is ready to confront those issues and over come them you also kill the monster, as the monster is just a metaphor for those issues?

    • @phil7095
      @phil7095 Před 2 lety

      @@technodean6793 this is only one perspective but I think that's it. If you relate it to the normal human experience, there are times in life where you are "low in spirit" or unmotivated and you start getting too comfy e.g eating too much junk, too much youtube rabbit holes, not paying attention to your spouse etc. Once you start taking care of your self, slaying monsters like cleaning you home, paying attention to your loved ones or working out you can feel reborn (maybe spiritually).

    Reading this gives me the same mystical feeling I Iast had when I played pokemon... It's the epitomy of the hero's journey. Maybe it's time to go on a real journey now? I'm afraid I'm my own threshold guardian though... :-(
