- I redecorated our bedroom behind my wife’s back…. Will she like it?
Last year we had a Bedroom Dilemma ...
Anna changed her mind on this bedroom design and didn’t want it at all
So I decided to redecorate , refurnish that room as we initially meant to do it
All of this behind my wife’s back …
The tricky part is that i built the bedroom alcove based on that bedroom set …
More on tonight’s vlog
Hope to see you at the première x

I think you need wide. Blue velvet ribbon to match the bed on the bottom of the curtains to lengthen them, as well as blue velvet tie backs for the curtains
Yes, this idea really sounds nice!
Edd and Anna, when you can afford longer curtains, raise the rod to ceiling height. It will make the room feel even more special (it's what they do in luxury hotels). ✨️ 🙂
Ikea have lined velvet curtains w/o grommet tops in long lengths - check them out 🇨🇦
aboslutely agree
Shame none of you listened when Ed stated "Please do not comment on the length of the curtains as we will be changing that!"
@@sheilaabayateye1558 Hmmmmm, you agreed with a comment that said "when you can afford longer curtains"! I hardly thing that a pair of curtains would break the bank for Ed and Anna. Personally, I woud say "THAT" comment were rude!
Or, I have before bought extra panels and used them to sew onto the bottom, maybe 18” from the floor, and where the fabric is joined make a tuck or 3 that looks like it was designed that way.
Ed, I think the room could also use a lovely rug :) I know you were hinting at a blanket box, but I love the strong blue addition of the bed. I'd go rug ;)
Yes absolutely a rug.😊
I agree! Don't hide the bed and a rug is definitely needed
Yes youre right it needs softness and warmth
My immediate thought when I viewed was to add a fairly large rug to soften the room and not to hide the beautiful bed end. 💖
Add a contrasting piece of material to the bottom of your curtains and make a pelmit and cover with the same contrasting material. It looks lovely. I am thrilled you appear to be keeping this home.🥳🥰
I agree. How about pulling the blue from the bed in with blue velvet or fringe?
I had the same idea, just sew a contrasting fabric to the bottom for the extra length.
I was thinking the same but add some bling with a beaded fringe and ribbon.
And I’d swap the 2 lamps to give greater space for the mirror.
That's a great idea.....i think the blue from the bed would look awesome!
I love the idea of a color on the walls so everything pops plus adding edging on the curtains in the blue of bed is a terrific idea.
Definitely agree the walls need color!❤😊
Beautiful room. The tapestry should hang just a tad higher. Art is hung at eye level, however, in keeping with older traditional decor , tapestries are usually hung higher than art. And, I would remove the modern lamp on the dressing table. It takes away from the room. Also, the foot of the bed is so beautiful, I would not block it with a blanket chest, nor bench. It would compete with the gorgeous bed. Well done guys!
Beautiful bedroom, I would not hide the beautiful blue velvet at the foot of the bed. The settee that you saw would look lovely below the tapestry❤
On the curtains it might be nice to add a blue fabric on the bottom that coordinates with the blue of the bed. Might make them look custom. Just an idea.
What a lovely and very peaceful room!
Maybe consider a cornice board to cover the top of curtains helps keep cold out too! Then you don't have to take out the hem or extend the length.
Loving the outcome. My only comment would be that I think your mirror would look lovely in your alcove, especially if you manage to get a wee sofa. That way you can dress the top of the fireplace which would certainly lend itself to adding some colour with the dressings. Hope you don’t mind me commenting.
Mirror would look nice, would bring light to that corner
That bed/wardrobe ensemble is magnificent!
I like what you’ve done with the room - at the foot of the bed - I would search out a Louis XV style bench with upholstered seat. For the niche to the right of the fireplace I’d definitely put a bookcase. Well done, Edd & Anna !
So glad you decided to utilize that suite of bed and surround in that room. That was the original idea after all and I was disappointed when you had decided not to use it in the earlier blogs.
I agree, Jeff.
It is a bedroom fit for a queen. How lucky she is.
I love the bed with wardrobes. The blue bed the color of the wardrobes go really well together. I know you thought of a bench but I like seeing the blue.
I actually love the other mirror that you took down. I would add a dresser or long table under the tapestry. Book shelves in the alcove/niche area is a nice idea. You can add to the curtains at the bottom or just wait until you find something you like better. Either way I’m glad you went in this direction and Anna likes it.
The writing desk or vanity is a nice touch and fits perfectly. A nice rug would warm up the floor. Nice job Ed and Anna.
Great job! I often think that wall paint should be chosen after antique furniture, and, before the right wall color can be chosen that will tie it all together.
I think your room should be painted a light blue to bring everything together. A bunch of floral prints would look nice in the alcove.
Hi! Loved this vlog. Feeling compelled to make some suggestions. I agree with Anna that the niche needs something tall. So her bookcase idea works; maybe a curio cabinet or substantial column or plant stand may look nice there. Regarding the 2 seater, could that go below the tapestry or at the foot of the bed? So kind of you to let your viewers share ideas. Thanks for your informative and entertaining vlogs!
The settee would be adorable with a floor lamp, a small table in front with some books and a lap blanket. A plant. A beautiful wool rug to warm it up even more. And a small bench (no back) at the foot of the bed.
Great work Edd. Seeing as you asked..... yes, a chaise or ottoman at the end of the bed is an essential piece of furniture for a large bedroom. Perhaps the tapestry is a bit low and could be re-hung so the top is level with top of the wardrobes. A display cabinet with very pretty things in it, or a bookcase would look good in the alcove. A two seater couch ok too, as long as its not pushed hard back against the wall, has a picture above and a rug in front of it. Maybe I should just move in as interior consultant!🤣
Beautiful bed & surround. Don't like the gold lamp, too modern. But you are doing great! Please video antique hunt!
Instead of letting the hem down on the curtains, you can add either tassels, a matching or contrasting ribbon or even lace to make it longer. The room looks beautiful and a cute little two seater would look lovely in that spot. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
You can do the same if your dress is too short as well that's a great idea!
You can always add a pretty trim at the bottom of the curtains to extend their length and that would give them a bit more luxury. A deep fringe could work well and then also be used as a tieback for the draperies. The loveseat/two seater would be less cramped below the tapestry. A beautiful painting and the other chair with the small table would be a nice reading nook with the light from the windows and heat from the fireplace rather than the loveseat. And definitely a beautiful rug at the foot of the bed will help tie all the spaces together. I would not want to put something that would block the view of the bed at its foot.
A fainting couch with another piece of art and side table for books in the alcove would also be lovely; somewhere to sit and read. Or a chest of drawers would also be good for someone who was actually living in the room, even with the existing armoires sides. the alcove needs Height, is the challenge as its such a tall space. Definately a lovely tall plant as well
Love the bed and cabinets surrounding. Both of the mirrors you tried, loom above and overwhelm the marble fireplace. It would look much more balanced with framed artwork above, rather than either of the large, heavy mirrors. They’re both beautiful - but not right for that spot.
I LOVE that hand painted mirror and think it looks great there. But if it could more match the cabinets (lighter) that would be perfect and would take away the "heaviness" you reference.
Looks good! I wouldn't put anything at the foot of the bed as it would obscure the beautiful lines,, curves of the foot.
I love the room with the alcove furniture and bed. I would love to see some old framed artwork here and there like between the two windows and maybe a small one above the bed between the sconces. An upholstered bench at the foot of the bed would be lovely. It’s a big room so as you find pieces you can add more furniture. A beautiful painting in that tall niche would look lovely also and i would make two pelmets above the windows and add fabric at the bottom of the drapes to match the bed. Maybe add an area carpet to add warmth. xx
I love the bedroom!!
As a decorator, it’s perfectly fine to have the pole of the curtains a few inches below the top of the window when you have a very long window. It emphasizes the length of the window. I suggest a love seat for the alcove. The curtains should be drawbacks with a bit of fringe, perhaps a valence. The end of the bed is decorative itself. No bench.
Looks like the beginning of a fairytale in that bedroom.
I agree with the previous commenters that the curtains should be hung from the ceiling height and adding a blue skirting panel at the bottom would tie in with the bed beautifully. Then I suggest that the area between the tapestry wall and bed needs a rug to create a nice warm and cozy feel to the room.
The room is nicely set considering that you have a limited budget at this time. I know people are suggesting all kinds of things, but changes can happen when you have the ability to do so. Ensuring the room is useable is most important at this time.
Decor is always a work in progress, anyway, and changeable, at whim. That’s the beauty of it. 😊
I think plants 🪴 give life to any room. 💜💜💜 🌿
You can let out the entire seam of the curtain and line the hem with a neutral fabric.
You need a very good/hot steamer to get out the crease.
A big vertical tapestry would fill up the alcove nicely... plus an electric fireplace. But a period dresser would be very nice and useful. You can always add an extension to the bottom of the curtains. A nice cushioned ottoman or sitting bench at the end of the bed, for sure!
That bed and wardrobe look absolutely stunning! Those side cubbies are simply fantastic, too.
I find this bedroom enchanting! I really love the furniture and the colors. I hope you can get the two-seater because it will look great with the other furniture. I'm really new to your channel and am really enjoying what you are doing. So much hard work, but it is all really paying off! Thank you for sharing your journey!!
They do work very hard! I've kept track of them for a couple years now.
My sister had the same dilemma recently. She raised the rods and added a flattering border to the bottom of the drapes. On the seam lines, between the two different fabrics, she added upholstery gimp.
You could also attach a twisted braid or tassel to the bottom. The richer the embellishment, the more space you'll buy.
My sister also found a complimentary colored glass beaded trim to add to the bottom of my kitchen curtains. They look so much richer now.
Wow!! Well done Ed for instigating a surprise for Anna. It was thoughtful and insightful of you to include her input as well. I’m sure you will resolve the curtains dilemma and eventually dress the room beautifully. Some pops of blue matching the bed might be an idea. PS I’m also a great fan of your friends Anna and Philipp. Much love from sunny 😎 & wet ☔️ Central Coast, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺🥰♥️
Love the room. It’s beautifully decorated. Both of you, Anna and Ed are due major Kudoes…and extra Kudoes to Ed for initiating it! Still loving and watching from PA, USA.
The little chrome lamp is not in keeping with the rest of the beautiful room.
Great job, and Anna was delighted with the surprise...❤
When Ed finished the bed piece, I am not lying, I teared up. I love the bed with it, absolutely beautiful.
A little blue rug under the chair in the corner could tie in the blue of the bed and the little alcoves of the bed frame 🥰
A bookcase built into the nook with a chaise lounge in front would be perfect. Add a reading table beside the chaise where you could set a cup of coffee/tea or vase of flowers. Maybe even a stand lamp behind the chaise to have the perfect amount of light while your reading. When the standing lamp is on it would reflect the light upward over the books or objects in the bookcase and warmth and layers to the room.
I was just about to suggest that same thing, only add a surround edge around the built in shelving/bookcase with the same colour as around the bed with the gold leafing and possibly some motifs that replicated the bed surrounding.
The curtain length is perfect. Beautiful room
Add an accent color or wallpaper behind the bed and hang a painting in the alcove. These things would make the bedroom more dynamic.
Ed it's very stunning. Fit for a queen and a king of the castle!!
Anna & Edd. The room looks amazing .color choice is outstanding,You both have flair for decorating..So enjoying your channel best to you from the USA
It is the white walls that is the problem. A pale blue might work.
I definitely agree with Audrey that a coordinating Rug would look very nice
Those wardrobes would be big enough for my nighties and morning gowns 😊
I love the room! It came out just fabulous! I would love to curl up in that bed with a good book & a glass of wine or cup of tea! Love the little alcoves for books & lovely things!
The bedroom looks fantastic! You don’t need to change a thing.
Great progress! The wall with the tapestry looks stark. I'd consider adding a planter at the right side near the wall at the opposite of the armoire wall. Potted fern perhaps, on a pedestal made of creamy marble, or maybe rattan. When one sits either at the desk, or in the corners facing into the room, it will make it feel much warmer and complete and less like a corridor.
Since you asked....Id put some kind of fancy fringe on the bottom of the curtains, maybe with glass beads to make them longer, then put the same fringe on some really nice pillows for the bed and the two chairs to tie it together. If feeling really over the top maybe run the same fringe up the inside hem of the curtains so the beads hang down when the curtains are pulled back. Also something round between the wall lights over the bed, maybe another guilded mirror.
Don’t hide the beautiful footboard on the bed and by all means, raise those drapes. I love the idea of a bookcase in the small alcove. 🥰
Looks like a room straight from a fairy tale! Beautiful❤
Your right Anna, the out come is very nice. I personally love that bed surround...It's exactly what you dream would be in a old Chateau. The dark blue footboard is so pretty don't cover it with furniture, maybe a rug instead. Nice job beautiful room.💙💙
Floor to ceiling curtains, rugs, chandeliers, more pictures and end tables.
Now that is a bedroom I would love to sleep in. It's perfect 👌. Yes, a bookcase is needed in that space.
The bedroom looks great x
a FAIRY tale princess bed, I'm in love
As always great video. It might look nice to paint the walls off-white to tie everything together.
I really like that set. What wonderful niches to store books, a glass of water or other things you need at night.
What I have done in the past to deal with curtains that are too short is to add a border of approximately 3 in" along length and then across the bottom as much as I need to skim the floor. But the curtain rods should be much closer to the ceiling. In this case I would use a blue velvet.
Well done, Ed. Love that bed ensemble. I think the room needs an antique rug with blue in it. Also, the little table by the tapestry needs to go on the other side of the chair, just sayin’😁
I like it! I probably would’ve gone with a blue similar to the blue in the bed for the curtains…. Or maybe you can cut a little bit more to the curtains and add like 2 feet maybe of blue fabric at the end to tie the blue of the bed. Also some blue in the rug …..
The bedroom is lovely and the furniture is really special. However, I really feel that those white walls do not enhance your furniture and makes the furniture look old and dirty. White walls are so sterile and cold and your furniture is warm. You need warmer coloured walls or wall paper to enhance and bring out the furniture to create old world charm. Plus the window dressing will also enhance the room and make it warmer.
I think if they used more candle like bulbs in the sconces it would warm the room up too.
I agree. The room seems very modern and makes the furniture look incongruous. Slightly cream walls would help. Long term I think it needs millwork - deep skirting boards and crown molding to visually bring the ceiling down and create a harmony with the ornate furniture.
Sorry I agree about the white walls plus you need a large rug to go cupboard to cupboard through under the bed with gold and blue tones, a touch of blue and gold to the curtains and a pelmet. I would also put the mirror above the desk in the alcove, a smaller tapestry and nic nacs above the fire place, and a small bookcase or a chest where the desk is at the moment. This is fun decorating your room what ever you do I hope your enjoy it in the end.
A chaise lounge would look fantastic there...rooms looks great 👍
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love the bed, all of it is gorgeous, love hummingbirds!
I was sad when Anna vetoed this the first time. It came out beautiful. 🧡
Yes me too
Love it! I worked for a art shop. A general rule of thumb is to hang wall art so the center of the art is at eye level. The eye level would be of course an average, being maybe between someone at 5' 3" to a person at 6' 3". With the the lovely high ceilings you have it would also acentuate the lux of the ceiling height. Your tapestry is amazing and definately in scale and mood of the room, a scooch higher would make a statement and be in line with eye level. Love the details of this room. Everything has it's moment. Keep going! great inspiration for others. :)
The curtains are a perfect length, if longer they will gather dust. In the corner perhaps add different paintings/photos of various sizes and at the bed end a blanket box 🎉
The strong blue of the bed frame needs to be repeated in a few other places in the room. It could be in the pillows on the two seater you are thinking about. It could be in a patterned, floor length table cloth over a little table with the two chairs beside it. It could also appear in a soft patterned rug.
Stunning room......I think a beautiful rug ,with some rich blue in the design to pick up on the blue in that beautiful bed also the blues in the tapestry, would really anchor everything. Thanks for sharing this adventure.
Another option for the curtains is to buy some fabric in a contrasting colour, possibly to match the darker shade of paint on the wardrobes, and sew a strip along the bottom edge. If you unpick the bottom edge you may see light through the old stitching holes.
I think the tapestry is beatiful
Great job, Ed! I really don't think you should put anything at the foot of the bed which would hide the gorgeous foot board. Also, just a suggestion, perhaps move the little table in front of the tapestry to the other side of the chair. I love how Anna so appreciates all your creative efforts! Great teamwork!!
I love it so unique. The blue headboard adds a little color
The room is lovely-very unique bed surround. I think it would be easier to sew a band of blue fabric to match the bed on the hem of the curtains with tie backs. I loved that little sofa also. Would look lovely in the room. Whatever you choose will look nice. You both have great taste.
Crown molding along the sealing for sure. A little couch for two with a coffee table, a rug, a chest, shelves and and more stuff to make it cozy. it looks so new. But what a lovely bed arrangement. just dreamy!
I love that the tones in the tapestry echo the mirror over the the mantle helping them to marry in the room.
The room looks amazing! I think a bench at the end of the bed would look nice. The area above the wardrobes seems to be missing something 🤔perhaps a curtain across the top to make it look more cohesive. Also a fireplace cover appropriate for the age of the house versus the blank white space. Even a decorative screen (a trifold with a portrait or something) would look really nice. Is there a carpet? A rug would look so good and make the room cozy!
Love the room especially the bed alcove.
This room is beautiful. All the pieces fit so well together. I just love it. Maybe a little white bench at the foot of the bed. Where you could sit on riding your shoes.
Fantastic again and as always. You have an eye and a flair for putting all your 'finds' together in such a way as to produce elegance, quality and opulence ....... AMAZING xx well done as always xxx I LOVE your passion xxx
Absolutely beautiful Ed and Anna!!! I would see a piece of rich velvet across the bottom of the curtains to give you length and to puddle when open. A rich gold or bronze or even a brown. The curtains are coming across gold ? It’s a room fit for a queen!!
Right! As someone else suggested: a rug definitely. A pelmet above the curtains to add to the height with fabric, blue as someone else mentioned. A print of some sort for the pelmet and additional fabric at the bottom of the curtains and , possibly, a piece up the inside length of the curtains. Then, pillows on the bed in the same fabric. Even a blue throw for the bed. Also, maybe down the time line, a piece to cover the inside of the fireplace mantel? There is a name for these but the term escapes me at this moment. You know, a framed piece of tapestry on feet. The lack of the fireplace would then be resolved. I love the fact that you can thieve from other rooms in your house.
Just beautiful! I love your channel.
Edd cracks me up......he ask Anna all the time what she thinks or where she wants things but Edd proceeds to do it his way or how he wants it lol 😆
I find that behavior appalling and not funny.
Well, he knows that if he presents a completed vision that she will see it from his perspective and agree; he knows her. BUT, he should respect her point of view and desires by working with, not against her interests.
She seems to always agree w him
He is either an Aires, a born leader ...or his moon or some other aspect is strongly influenced by Aires ...or maybe Capricorn (they are usually good with money but sometimes stubborn). Still, they keep their harmony with one another & every couple has their own dynamic they have worked out between each other over the years & it isn't for us to judge that special alchemy between them. If it suits them ...and that's what is important.
@@kindlydude I'm the same really and my fella has to go along with it 🤣
You could always add decorative fringe to the bottom of the draperies. That would lengthen them, but not add weight to the bottom which pulls your eye down.
Paint the back wall in a soft blue. It will tie everything together.
Ed and Anna love the room looks beautiful well done, the curtains look good as well🤗🇦🇺
That room is quite stunning. Imagine Turing the property into a air B&B When completed. People would honored to spend a night in such a beautiful property…
I would put shelves and a plant in the alcove, rug on the floor, tourchier in the opposite corner next to chair and window
Lovely room and bed ensemble but as mentioned by another viewer, the white walls seem all wrong to me. Perhaps a robin’s egg blue would suit the cream colour furniture much better. Nothing personal- Love you two! ❤
For the curtains you may find some thick velvet braid to add at the bottom
Looks great, maybe accent pillows at chairs with color of blue velvet from bed? That blue is beautiful!
Yes I agree a bench at the end of the bed. Also you could add a piece of material down the side of the curtain and the bottom of the curtain. Pick a color from the tapestry. Look beautiful so far. 👍🙂
Love your furniture choices in the bedrooms! So tastefully done!
Anna you are one special lady. The room is gorgeous You could get a similar chair for the vanity and put the two a table in between or tea cart in the alcove add another tapestry to match the bed and curtains in the alcove . Put the seatee you want to purchase or a nice chaise lounge and small table in the corner with the big tapestry . Or a painted secretary with display shelves in the alcove so you have a writing area or laptop and the matching chairs one at the dressing table one at the secretary.
Ed your love and care for Anna your family your friends and your home. Is wonderful. You are a good role model.
